you were at the hospital after xiao had pushed you aside. he hit his head from a high height and the doctors weren't sure if he was going to be okay.

it was either memory loss or a coma.

"are you a relative?" the doctor approached you. you shook your head wanting to say something but nothing came out.

"I'm his father," a voice came from behind you. you instantly turned to see a tall man with brown hair.

The doctor nodded and zhongli gave you a signal to wait here that he'd soon come back with either good news or bad news. you did as he said sitting back down.

"y/n," zhongli had come back after a few minutes. he sat down beside you leaning his head back onto the wall.

"is he okay?" you spoke up just wanting to know. "he's just fine although he is in a coma he's still well and alive," zhongli answered.

you tightened the grip on your thighs as you began to constantly blame yourself in your head. it would have been much better if you had just fallen but of course the idiot took the fall instead.

"not only xiao got injured, get some rest," zhongli had noticed the scrapes on your knee.

"I'm okay I'm not the one who's in a coma," you felt even guiltier showing your face to xiao's father. you were basically the cause of his death if he were to die.

"go home and get some sleep I'll be staying to watch over him and until he wakes up just wait patiently xiao isn't one to die so easily," zhongli assured.

"at least that's what he would say if he saw you in a state like this," he added. that was all it took for you to break down remembering xiao comforting you when reki died.

"xiao also wouldn't blame you for anything he chose to do it because he loves you," zhongli stood back up walking away to give you some space.

"I'll wait then."

no matter how long it takes for him to wake up you'd be there. no matter who comes and goes you'd still have him in the end. that's all you needed.

days had turned into weeks, weeks had turned into months.

he never woke up.
