《The Nerd that turned out to be Vampire-ish [Wattys2015]》CHAPTER 59: Built in magnifying glass.

I woke up early just in time when the mall opens, well I had to do some last minute shopping before the festival. And I didn't bother to wake up the snoring John. I left tiptoeing out of the room and run to the mall next door.
Immediately when I got inside, I didn't need to hassle myself on finding white t-shirts. Because the moment I entered the mall I'm already welcomed with festival stalls, and a ton of t-shirts to choose from. I bought John a shirt as well, without sleeves of course. I'm not sure if he'll like it, but he has no choice. I bought myself with an open slit on the side, that'll show some parts of my bra, it's also a sleeveless. Well, I'm feeling pretty daring today, because I'm finally 18! I then jogged to the department store to buy a clear raincoat.
And I'm done. It didn't even took me an hour to do all that.
But before I go back to the hotel I decided to buy some breakfast first. So I bought a pair of hot caramel latte, and a couple of bread along the way. When I was in front of the hotel's entrance, I saw John panting while he looked at me with laser eyes.
Ooops.
"Hey." I said and tried not to laugh. He probably thought I ran away. "Good, you're done jogging. Now let's have some breakfast." I tapped his shoulder when I walked passed him.
His breathing was heavy when he followed me to the elevator. I looked at him and smiled. "What?" I asked because he kept on glaring at me. Then I sighed. "I'm sorry. Okay. I didn't want to disturb your snoring session."
He exhaled heavily and run a hand through his damp hair covered in sweat. "Next time. Wake me up." He's in a bad mood. Well, I can't fight him on that, mornings does make people cranky.
After were done eating. I took out the shirt I bought for him. "Like it?" He simply shrugged. "Oh come on. At least fake a smile."

He laughed. "Thanks." I handed it to him and he read the design on the shirt. "Sinulog?"
"Yeah. We're going to a festival today." I said and stood up. "We'll be leaving in an hour. First dibs on the shower." He nodded and took the remote, surfing through channels then stopped at cartoon network.
I laughed silently while looking at him, as his eyes had probably pasted itself on the screen, putting every ounce of focus on Adventure Time. So cute.
After shower I put on my Sinulog attire. Just in time when John got out of the bathroom, with only a towel that's showing off his body, especially his v-area – the road to his junior. I gulped, I can't get my eyes off of him. Stupid, stubborn eyes. Well he's steaming hot, to be honest. This view was something I missed out to see last night, because I fell asleep immediately after talking to Daisy. And I'm lucky to get this second chance.
He wiped his wet hair messily with a towel. "What?" He asked as his brows merged. "Something wrong?"
"Nothing. You should uh... hurry. We'll be late." I said and hastily turned my head to force my attention on the television, which was shut down, by the way. But it seems interesting at the moment.

We arrived at the meeting place a little too early than I anticipated. I looked at my watch and wonder – where in the world are they? Suddenly, someone hugged me from behind, I looked and saw Allanah's smiling face.
"I knew it was you! That raincoat was always your signature look." I smiled and hugged her back.
"Where are the others?" I asked, but Allanah's eyes was nowhere near mine. "Oh. Yeah. This is John by the way."
"Boyfriend?" She asked and I laughed sarcastically.
"Split that word, and yes, he's my friend who's a boy." I said and John laughed. "John, this is Allanah by the way." She smiled briefly to him, and so did John.

The others came afterwards, and I again made introductions for John, repeating the same he's-not-my-boyfriend explanation, over and over. I should have just recorded it and Bluetooth it to them, if I knew this would happen. But unlike the others, Daisy had a different response.
"Good. Because I like you better with nerd." She said in a whisper. I laughed, and then I realized that there's someone missing.
"Where's Jel?" I asked her, while looking at our group, checking to see if I happen to miss out greeting her.
"She's with Will." Daisy simply said as we walk through a crowd of dancing people in the streets.
"Wait." I caught her arm and drew her closer to me. I wasn't sure if I heard her right. "Will?"
"Yeah. They're dating. You would've known if you hadn't disappeared." She laughed and continued to push bodies of people swarming at us, dancing like crazy chickens.
O-capital-M-G!
We took our usual spot above ground, on a man-made platform placed on the side of the street. Where we can see the parade and tribal dancers in big colorful costumes.
"Wow. I had no idea it would be this fun, and chaotic." I heard John say to my side. I laughed when I looked at him, his face was covered in paint.
I then put back my attention on the show below. When suddenly, my eye sight changed and everything started to blur. I closed and opened it repeatedly, while rubbing my eyes without mercy. What's happening? I started to panic, this is so not the ideal time and place to become blind. But then when I opened it again, everything has gotten zoomed in. Like I was wearing a built in magnifying glass but a hundred times more detailed.
Nauseous. Has come back with its own marching band like a headache parade. Bringing in a special guest called migraine.
"Fuck!" I groaned out loud. Automatically, John puts a protective hand on my shoulder.
"You okay?" When I looked at him, his face had warped into a fisheye. I grunted silently and closed my eyes once again. I simply nodded to his question. I don't want to worry him and drag me back to the hotel.
Then I remembered what Tristan said before when we were stuck inside his car. That every vampire who turns 18, awakens a special skill that no human can possess. Like say, he's super-hearing powers.
Does this mean, I'll be looking at the world like this, for the rest of my immortal life? I'd rather poke my eye with a fork and grill it to perfection.
This is pure crap! Why can't I just read minds like Edward does?
I sighed.
Focus. I said to myself while remembering the Superman movie I saw a month ago; when Clark Kent was still a kid and can't control his powers. It took him a great deal of focus, to use it properly. Maybe I should try it as well.
I opened my eyes once again, and I'm welcomed with a sight of joggling boobs. I closed it straight away, before I zap it with a laser.
I sighed, again.
I then controlled my breathing pattern, trying to meditate under chaos. Imagining myself on a dark room with a flashlight above my head. Doing the very best to mute everything around me and focus on myself. And when I opened it again, everything was crystal clear and back to normal. I smiled triumphantly.
"What's with that grin princess?" I heard a familiar voice, and I don't have to guess who it was.
"Will." I said, and hugged my brother – which he doesn't know yet.
