《SMG4: Super Mario X Meggy Sunshine》Chapter 10: A Few Secrets

Mario, Meggy, and F.L.U.D.D. were searching high and low for more Shine Sprites. They're getting closer to their goal in Corona Mountain.
Mario: Looks like Isle Delfino is looking brighter than when we first came here.
Meggy: Yep. We're closer to Corona Mountain and beating those two villains that were disguising as evil versions of us.
Mario: What happened yesterday was weird.
Meggy: Yeah. That crazy soldier guy came out of nowhere and took our hats again. That really was weird.
Meggy then noticed a pipe on a small island close to them.
Meggy: Hey Mario. I see a pipe over there on that island.
Mario: I wonder where that leads to.
They went to another area of Delfino Plaza and went down the manhole. They then ran through the pipes and went out to the island closest to the one they're looking for. They then had to wait until a boat comes. It then came a minute later, as Mario and Meggy jumped on it. The boat then travelled to the island with the pipe on it, as they jumped off the boat and went into the pipe.
They came out the other side and saw a long track filled with poisonous water and a lily pad on top of it.
Mario: Ooh. Very scary.
Meggy: Looks like we have to ride this lily pad through the track so we don't touch the poisonous water.
They jumped on the lily pad, as they're now figuring out how to move it.
Mario: I think I have to move this lily pad the same way as the boat in Noki Bay. F.L.U.D.D., you know what to do.
F.L.U.D.D. started spraying water to move the lily pad, as they now have to be very careful in steering the lily pad towards the 8 Red Coins they have to collect in order to get the Shine.
They, however, miss one Red Coin, but they can't move the lily pad back.

Mario: I'll try to get that Red Coin with the help of F.L.U.D.D.'s Hover Nozzle. Wish me luck, Meggy.
Meggy: Be careful, Mario.
Mario started to carefully walk on the side of the track, as he made his way to the Red Coin and used the Hover Nozzle so he'll not fall in the poison water. He grabbed the 8th Red Coin, as a Shine appeared beside Meggy.
Meggy: Great job, Mario! Now come back over here so we can get this Shine!
Mario: Okie dokie!
Mario got back to the side of the track and carefully ran back to Meggy and got the Shine.
Meggy: That was fun and interesting.
Mario: I love finding secrets.
They saw a pipe beside them, as they jumped in and went back to Delfino Plaza.
Mario: Let's see what other secrets there are in Isle Delfino.
Meggy: Sure. We gotta look extremely hard for secrets.
They started looking for secrets, as they came across a box for a new nozzle for F.L.U.D.D. It was the Rocket Nozzle, as they picked it up.
F.L.U.D.D.: Looks like you got the Rocket Nozzle. Try it out.
Mario started to charge up the Rocket Nozzle and began to run extremely fast.
Meggy: Woah! You're going so fast!
Mario: What is happening?!
Meggy then ran in front of Mario so he can stop, but he started to carry Meggy instead. Now both of them couldn't stop going too fast, as they ran through some double doors and teleported to a new area; the Turbo Track.
Meggy: How did we end up here?
Mario: I... went inside a building, and now we're here?
Meggy: Yeah, I'm confused too.
Mario: This place kinda looks like a practice area for our new Rocket Nozzle. I'll carry you, Meggy. Me and F.L.U.D.D. are gonna do the work. I bet a Shine would be waiting for us in the end. Power up the Rocket Nozzle, F.L.U.D.D.!

Mario then carried Meggy and started to run fast with the help of the Rocket Nozzle. There are a few parts where Mario had to jump from platform to platform, but they still managed to make their way through the entire track and get the Shine in the end.
Meggy: Awesome job, Mario! You are a great jumper.
Mario: Thanks, Meggy. You were great too, F.L.U.D.D. Your new nozzle is amazing.
F.L.U.D.D.: Thank you.
They returned via another pipe, as they started to look for one more secret. They went on the slow-moving boat just to see the sights of Delfino Plaza.
Meggy: Man, this Island sure is beautiful.
Mario: It sure is, Meggy. I'm glad I'm spending my time with you here.
Meggy: Me too. I hope we get the honeymoon we deserve in the end.
They sat on the boat for another minute until they noticed a hole under a building they go under.
Mario: Meggy! There's a hole! Let's go inside it!
Meggy: Okay.
They both jumped in the hole and teleported to a secret level that everyone regrets going to.
It was a giant pachinko machine, and Mario, Meggy, and F.L.U.D.D. arrived there.
Mario: Now I'm confused about how all of this fits inside just one hole.
Meggy: Maybe we teleported here.
They then looked up at the pachinko machine.
Meggy: That thing sure looks huge.
Mario: I see Red Coins inside. We gotta collect those.
Meggy: But we gotta be extremely careful. I see a hole at the bottom of this. We gotta make sure not to fall down that.
Mario: Okie dokie. Now how are we supposed to get inside and up to the top?
They walked in a hole on the side that leads to inside the pachinko machine, as they stepped on the ground inside and started to get launched high.
Mario: MAMA MIAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Meggy: What is going on?!
F.L.U.D.D. saved Mario from the launching speed with the Hover Nozzle, as Meggy fell and caught the side of one of the holes in the middle of the machine, clinging to dear life.
Meggy: Mario!
Mario: I'm a-coming, Meggy!
Mario went to Meggy's location, grabbed a hold of her hand, and pulled her in the hole with him, as they started to slide back down to the outside of the bottom of the machine. Once they arrived back down, Mario and Meggy hugged each other.
Meggy: Thanks, Mario.
Mario: No problem, Meggy. Hmm... How are we supposed to get those Red Coins?
Meggy: Here's my strategy. We go back inside, go towards the Red Coin we're looking for without falling through the bottom, and go back out. We do this 4 times maximum because both of us are gonna be looking for a different Red Coin, and that Shine awaiting us here is ours.
Mario: Good idea, Meggy. Let's a-go!
They tried Meggy's strategy out. It was a little hard, but it was made easier with the help of F.L.U.D.D. They collected all 8 Red Coins without falling or dying, as a Shine Sprite appeared in the hole in the middle of the machine. They went back inside the machine, made their way towards the Shine, and collected it together.
Meggy: I'm getting very dizzy after getting launched many times.
Mario: Me too. I guess we need a little rest.
They returned to Delfino Plaza via another pipe, as they returned to Sirena Beach's hotel. They went inside their room and began to rest in their bed again. What they went through today was pretty interesting for both of them, but at least they're more closer to getting to Corona Mountain.

Tim the Engineer
Summoned against his will to a world of swords and magic, an engineering student struggles to find a way home under the shadow of a world devouring threat. ***************************** Updates: 5/13/19: Revisions to several chapters for clarity, grammar, and style. 4/29/19: A short side story and artwork has been added to the blog. 4/8/19: A Side Story has been updated on my new blog (every writer is required to have one). https://talesfromliahar.wordpress.com/ ***************************** “The summoning scenarios are broken down into groups of ten.” Emi Ito stated. “Don’t, don’t you dare say another word.” Muttered Genzo Uchida. His eyes had turned bloodshot and his hands shook with rage. “The first thirty…” “Shut up!” Genzo bellowed “How dare you help these disrespectful gaijin?” Flecks of spit and madness flew from his face, his fist raised ready to strike. But Emi did not flinch, instead she was about ready to continue when Yuma Takeuchi interrupted her. “Uchida, please,” her sweet sounding words could melt ice. “I think we will have a better chance of getting home if we all work together.” When she glanced up with her sleepy looking eyes at Genzo Uchida he deflated visibly. “Were not getting home.” Uchida said coolly. “Group summoning, large, that puts us in the 60 series. No one came to greet us after five minutes of arrival. That leaves scenarios 68 and 69. In scenario 68 there is something that binds the large group together; they are all classmates or a single family. But thanks to the gaijin” he spit out the word “I think we are scenario 69 with no way home.” Ikko Inoue’s eyes went wide, while Katsukno and Hayata started muttering to themselves. Tim took on a serious look and rubbed his scruffy chin. Emi maintained her stoic expression while trying to find something to refute. McKenzie glanced at Randall and giggled. Randall took the prompting of his teammate and followed up by approaching Genzo. “Uh, so we are in a sixty-nine?” “Yes.” Replied Genzo with the seriousness of someone who’s life was about to end. McKenzie covered her mouth and snickered. “You and me, were stuck in a sixty-nine situation?” Randall pushed with a grin. “Yes, we are all stuck in a sixty-nine scenario together!” Genzo retorted in anger. McKenzie fell on her butt laughing. “What the hell is so funny?” Demanded Genzo, whose face had turned red. “It’s a problem with the automatic translation.” Retorted Tim. Randall, who seemed unable to quit started in again “So, about this sixty-ni…” Genzo interrupted Randall with a swift punch to the face. But, because of their height difference it was a bit of an uppercut that left Randall rattled. Tim and Ikko moved to step in between the two, but Genzo showed no further hostility. Instead he just stared at his clenched fist with such intensity it grabbed the attention of the room. “I unlocked a skill.” He said bluntly. ***************************** This is not a light novel, but people who like light novels should enjoy the themes of this book. ***************************** A Map of the Region

Unique Fusion Magic Hex
World Essence. The mysterious energy coursing throughout the entire land of Vor'ten, and very possibly the entire world. This energy has allowed humanity to flourish, building great empires and vast kingdoms, conquering nature itself with just a sweep of their hand. Humans were the strongest existence, and with the help of channeling this World Essence, many were able to turn into Magic Knights, gaining magical abilities to combat the various fierce beasts throughout the lands.Alas... those glory days of old were long gone. Humanity has now been pushed to the brink of destruction, and now the remaining members of the human race are encased within giant domes known as 'Alkkras', made with the last remaining bits of the World Essence. It was said that those giant domes were the last gifts left by the remnants of the ancient human race, as a means to protect the future generation from the attacks of the many wild beasts roaming outside. Five Spiritualist Invokers, all combined together, used the last bit of the World Essence and sacrificed their lives to lay a gigantic, 1028-seal formation magic array to form these barriers, forever saving humanity, but also trapping humanity within these barriers. However, the humans were never completely helpless. No matter how little World Essence was left, the humans still had some remaining. Realizing the incoming crisis, the humans found a way to seal World Essence inside a special type of crystal. Soon, these crystals began to become implanted into weapons, turning them into World Essence Weapons, and they began to display properties of their own. Extreme heat. Bone chilling cold. Absurd sharpness. These normal weapons, after being imbued with the energy of the World Essence Crystals, began to form natural affinities to elements. Fire. Water. Earth. Wind. Darkness. Light. Using these weapons, one could become a Chevalier that wielded the power of the elements. However, if one wanted to reach a higher level of enlightenment and understanding, one could become an Invoker. Via the study of magic array formations, one could directly use the power of the World Essence to cast devastating magics upon the enemy. These people were Invokers, highly valued for their combat potential by the Army. These weapons and magical arrays were used in the great fight between the humans and the beasts long ago. They had long since been put away in storage, almost long forgotten...However, after ten-thousand years of suppression, the human race is beginning its counterattack against the Beasts... Synth was an Invoker in the Magecroft Academy. However, his talent was terrible, being only at the Spark Stage. This led to him being looked down upon and bullied. He was unable to cast any Calamity-rank or even Destruction rank spells, and was only able to cast Coalescing rank spells at the age of 17, a record low in the academy for cultivating these rare Invokers. Even though he put in more effort than anyone else, he was still unable to advance his Channeling Energy. But due to his constant research and study, Synth ended up creating a power that would go against the heavens - he had found how to Fuse spells together. After trying it out once, merging the magical array for the Small Fireball and the Mortal Judgement skills, he was able to create a mid-rank Destruction tier spell, Holy Judgement Flame. However, after this, no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to fuse more spells together or even cast them, and noticed a weird, pentagram shaped formation on his left arm. He would later call this mark the Fusion Magic Hex, a curse that prevented the wielder from casting magic that wasn't their own...This meant that with the exception of Synth's newly created skill, , he was going to have to create unique magic arrays if he ever wanted to step on the path of becoming an Invoker! This power that destroyed the laws of the Invoking System, and his unyielding persistence in testing and creating new spells, would later gain Synth the nickname the Unique Fusion Hex, and lead him to become one of the strongest beings in the entire World!
