《Bite Me [Creek Love Story]》{Seventeen}

A few days later Craig and I got a little closer to finding out what had happened to his sister while at her friend's house. We were both working in Harbucks and Kenny had stormed into the shop looking a mixture of annoyed and wary. He walked straight up to Craig, who was behind the cash register at the time, and crossed his arms, staring at the man expectantly.
There was a brief pause before Craig lifted his middle finger and spoke up, "What?" To which I interrupted by nudging him in the back while walking past him. "Oh. I mean, welcome to Harbucks."
"The hell did your sister do, Tucker?" asked Kenny defensively.
Craig narrowed his eyes, "What are you talking about?"
"Karen's been upset since the night your sister came over and she won't tell me a thing!" explained Kenny, running a hand through his blonde hair and sighing lightly.
I walked over, since they were starting to make a scene in the shop and I didn't want the customers to be scared off. I fidgeted and frowned, "U-umm.." they turned to me, "Y-you were there w-w-weren't - ACK! - weren't you? H-how come - ngh - you don't know?"
Kenny sighed and shoved his hands into his pockets, "I was hanging out with a friend of my own and got too distracted to pay attention."
I nodded slowly, though Craig responded by yet again flipping him the bird. Sometimes I wondered if he even realized his own actions..
"So," Kenny started up again, "do you know anything?"
"I wasn't there," Craig stated. "How could I possibly know?"
"She's your sister," mumbled Kenny.
Craig furrowed his eyebrows so slightly that I almost didn't even notice it, "Yeah, and Karen's yours."
It's not very often that I see Kenneth McCormick so defensive over something since he's more often than not a very playful and stress free individual. I guess he cares a lot about his sister, which really shouldn't be surprising. Maybe I just don't understand. After all, I don't have any siblings of my own. Unless I was adopted.. I made a mental note to ask my parents whether or not I was adopted later and then listened back into the conversation.

By the time my mind ran back to reality, Kenny was walking out the door. Though he turned around before reaching it and grinned ear to ear.
"Well, after we get this all cleared up how about we go on a date Tucker?" questioned Kenny.
"Fuck off," was Craig's immidiate response, followed by the raising of his middle finger.
I frowned at this, because I really didn't want Kenny to steal Craig away from me. Then I remembered something that still breaks my heart to this day.
Hah! Joke's on you, I thought, Craig's straight!
Then my frown deepened and I felt an overwhelming urge to flush myself down the toilet or something.
"Ngh.. What happened?" I asked.
Craig spared me a glance before responding, "You were standing there the whole time, dude."
Silence.
"I-I spaced out..." I said nervously. Craig sighed and I stared down at my shoes.
"He just told me to ask Ruby about it," he shrugged. I nodded and together we got back to work.
After my shift was over and I was back home, my first destination was Ruby's room. But not after being stopped by my mom.
"Welcome home, Craig," she told me. I flipped her off and walked right passed her. Though I didn't see it, I just knew that she returned the 'loving' gesture.
Soon I ended up in front of a closed door and was about to knock when I stopped myself and just opened the door. There, sitting atop of the mattress, was my sister with worksheets laying in front of her. A binder was being used as a hard surface to write on the paper.
"What do you want?" she asked, not even looking up at me.
I stared at her until she finally tore her gaze away from her homework and paused what she was doing. The expression on her face turned nasty and impatient, so I decided to explain what had happened, "Karen's brother stopped by my work today."
The impatient and irritated look she had on just moments before was instantly replaced by a shocked one the second I started my sentence, "And?"

"What happened that night?" I asked, slipping my hands into my pockets and leaning against the doorframe.
Ruby looked back down at her worksheet and fiddled with her pencil, "Nothing.. She's just a baby.." I watched her for a while longer and then she sighed and flipped me off, "Just go away and leave me alone."
The only thing that had been done on my part was the action of taking my hand out of my pocket and flipping her the bird. Then my hand quickly returned to its safety spot.
"Ugh! Fine, just shut the door and don't tell Mom or Dad anything about it! You got that?" warned my sister. I closed the door and walked over to the bed, sitting down at the very edge and leaning back. I had to take my hands out of my pockets to keep myself upright but I was fine with that. "Karen has this kiddy crush on a boy at our school," she began to explain. Ruby crossed her arms and looked away before continuing, "It's been going on for the past two years! It got really annoying, so I told him."
"Ruby," I sighed.
"I'm not finished, moron!" Ruby pouted. "Anyway, I told him because.. Because who wouldn't like her back? But he was more of a moron than you, which is shocking since you're the biggest idiot I know," she mumbled that last part. Then she turned to look at me once more. "He doesn't like her back. But he was nice about it! Still, she was being a baby and continued to whine about it.. So, uh.. I told her to stop being an annoying baby and she started to cry. Cry! Who cries, anyway?! Then she told me to leave and that she never wanted to see me again."
Wow, okay. My sister is stupid, that's something that was just established. I stood up looked at her, "Ruby, you can't just blab about someone's crush like that. If she wanted him to know she would have told him. And you're also not supposed to call someone an 'annoying baby.'" It felt really weird to be a responsible older brother, so I flipped her off to make sure she knew I wasn't going soft.
Ruby rolled her eyes, "Now can you leave me alone?"
So without another word I turned around and walked to my own room, purposely leaving her door wide open. I could hear her yelling at me for that but I decided to ignore it.
Once in my room, I took my phone out and flipped through my contacts. I didn't have Kenny's number, but I had Tweek's who had Stan's and Kyle's and both of them had Kenny's. So I sent him a quick text.
To: Tweekers
From: Me
Message: I need Kenny's number.
After sending, I put my phone to the side and unzipped my backpack. I had my own homework to do, after all. It took about ten minutes for Tweek to respond.
To: Me
From: Tweekers
Message: 555-536-6384
I dialed the number and put my phone to my ear. After two rings, someone answered.
"Hello?" there was no mistaking that voice. It was definitely Kenny McCormick.
"It's Craig," I said.
"Taking me up on that offer?" asked Kenny. I could just hear the smile in his tone and it made me want to cringe.
"Ruby told me what happened," I explained, completely ignoring his question.
There was a pause, some shuffling, and then a muffled, "What?" So I explained what happened and he stayed silent throughout the whole thing, not talking until I finished what I was saying. "Dude, your sister's vicious," was the first thing he said. I stayed silent. He sighed, then chuckled, "Alright, thanks. If you ever feel like having fun, hit me up. You've creepily found my number, so I must mean something to your creepy self," He snorted. "But I dig creeps. And now I've got your number, too. See you around, Tucker."
With that, he hung up. I sighed and tossed my phone to the side, going back to the homework I really didn't feel like doing.

Numbers Continually Going Upward
The world has very politely ended in the most webfiction way possible. Everyone is now leveling up in various things. Problems are arising. Some or all of those problems may be based around how to have a community barbeque when the nearest cow has been teleported to a few thousand miles away, along with the nearest supermarket. Join our protagoinst as he attempts to be a cool person, while everything falls apart. _____It turns out that any attempt to write a parody of the litrpg genre through overuse of the concept of leveling up inevitably fails when it turns out that *that is what the genre is based on*. Still, this was a fun little candy project of mine, and I might write more of it.

To The Far Shore
Post apocalyptic Oregon Trail. The apocalypse has come and gone. And come back again, and left again... nobody really knows how often. Nothing lasts forever, but nothing is ever completely gone. Which is a shame for young Mazelton, as his family has been around a terribly long time, and made an astonishing amount of enemies. Millenia's worth. So he has to run- from mobs, cannibals, soldiers, sailors, cholera, cattle, thieving sales-monks, starvation, mechanical horrors, vengeful spirits, negotiating your own marriage, and poison of every sort. Fortunately, his not terribly nice family has trained him well in the arts of core polishing. Or as you and I might know it- turning radioactive pellets into useful tools. And weapons. Updates Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Usual defensive tags applied. The goal isn't exactly family friendly, but you have probably seen worse on network TV. After the watershed. Not full blown HBO, let's say. This is the first novel I am sharing publicly, so feedback is very much appreciated and encouraged. Act 1 of the novel is completed, but do please let me know what works, what doesn't, and what you would like to see more of. Thank you, and Enjoy!
