《The Alpha's Human Mate》Chapter 16 Human Dating Customs

Andrew was becoming more, and more pushy as the week went on. At first, it was just him showing up at my locker every morning, and then it was him sitting too close for comfort beside me in English, and finally, it was him getting switched somehow to my biology partner. It was like the conversation we had on Monday where he was so sweet and understanding was just a dream.

"So," mom started off slowly. "Any boys?"

I was in the middle of taking a bit of the pasta she just made when I started choking on it. "At least give me a warning next time you want to pry into my love life next time," I tried to brush her off.

I wasn't ready to introduce her to Xavier yet, but I knew that I would have to do it soon with the official ceremony fast approaching. Cecelia insisted on taking me shopping this weekend to find the perfect dress.

"So I'll take that as a yes," my mom replied.

My mom came up with her new, favourite idea that since she's working more hours and we moved to a new town that we should have dinner together at least once a week. I should have known that it was all just a ploy to get me alone and interrogate me.

"If you mean do I have friends that happen to be boys?" I rolled my eyes at her. "Then yes, yes I do have friends that tour boys. But I do not have a boyfriend, mom."

"I'm not here to judge, Addison. I was around your age when I met and fell in love with your father," mom started to launch straight into the 'how I met your dad' story that I could recite my heart at this point.

"I know, I know," I groaned at her shoving another fork full of pasta in my mouth. "You guys were high-school sweethearts and went to the same college, where he proposed and you guys had a small wedding, finished college and later had me."

"Ok Miss know it all," my mom laughed at me. "My point is that Midnight Creek might be a great place, but you'll never know if you don't let yourself be open to the possibilities."

"And this is my cue to leave," I announced shaving the rest of my pasta in my mouth and quickly loading my dishes into the dishwasher before bidding my mom a bye and leaving to my room.

"I love you too!" Mom shouted up the stairs at me, I could hear the laugh in her words.

I quickly got ready for bed, throwing on an oversized t-shirt and some short shorts before doing the last of my homework. With everyone happening this week homework has been the least of my worries, but I had a biology test coming up and needed to study. I was scribbling down study points at my desk when I heard a dull thud, followed by another, and another.

"What the hell is that?" I wondered to myself out loud.

I slowly got up from my desk as the thuds continued, I grabbed my biology textbook for protection and tip-toed over to my window. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn't Xavier standing shirtless throwing rocks at my window.

"What the hell are doing?" I whisper yelled at Xavier pushing my window open and dropping my textbook back on my desk. "It's late and I think that my mom is still up."

"Move over," Xavier whispered back, motioning me to the side with his hands.

I rolled my eyes but moved nonetheless.

Xavier somehow managed to jump up through my open window, and into my room without making that much noise.

"What are you doing here?" I asked confused.

Xavier hadn't even so much as texted me or anything to let me know he was coming by. But here he was, standing inside my bedroom shirtless, muddy, and incredibility hot.

"I got a mind-link that there were rouge sightings nearby your place and I got worried so my wolf insisted that we both come and check that you ok." He said like it was the simplest thing ever.

My cheeks were absolutely burning at this. "I'm ok," I whispered to him, feeling shy all of a sudden.

"Addison when are you going to get it through your head that I will always worry about you as long as I'm alive," Xavier rolled his eyes at me.

Xavier didn't wait for my response before pulling me into his chest and wrapping his arms around me. Despite being covered in some dirt, he was still warm and smelled like chocolate.

"I think maybe you should meet my mom soon," I said softly. All I wanted to do was stay in this moment forever, wrapped in Xavier's arms.

"Go on a date with me tomorrow night," Xavier blurted out, pulling away from just enough so he could look me in the eyes.

"I'm going shopping with your sister tomorrow," I reminded him. Cecelia gave neither of us an option, just told us that me and her were going shopping and Xavier to whine about it later.

"After you're done shopping," Xavier said. "I'll pick you up and we can go on a real date. A human date."

"You know that you don't have to do that." I knew that things were different in the werewolf world.

"I want to," Xavier said simply. "I'll pick you up at seven, wear a nice dress and I'll wear something nice too. I can meet your mother briefly before taking you out and she can see how amazing I am," Xavier half-joked.

"Alright there Romeo," I joked. "Don't be getting ahead of yourself, you gotta meet her first and then tell her that you're my werewolf soulmate."

"You really know how to kill the mood, Addison," Xavier said pulling me closer to his chest and putting his head on top of mine.

We just stood there, wrapped in each other arms for a few minutes. My ear was pressed against his chest, right above her heart and I could hear the steady rhythm of it. Xavier slowly started o rock us side to side, almost like we were slow dancing in my bedroom, and I couldn't be happier. I could stay here, wrapped up in his arms forever.

"I should get going," Xavier whispered breaking the silence. "Grayson just mind-linked me asking where I was. He wants to go over patrol routes and patterns and why all these rouges are in our territory all of a sudden."

Even as Xavier spoke he didn't make a move to let go or back away.

"Ok," I whispered back, giving him one last final hug before pulling back. I felt cold without him. "I'll see you tomorrow."

Xavier gave me a quick forehead kiss that had my heart racing before telling me to be safe and just like that he jumped back out my window, shifted, and was off.

My phone buzzed rapidly a few times on my bedside table where it was lugged in. I rolled my eyes at it, figuring it was probably just Cecelia to remind me that she would be here bright and early to go shopping and to wear comfy shoes.

I grabbed my phone, only to see that the text wasn't from Cecelia, but an unknown number.
