《The Lieutenant》Seven

The assault course was actually Satan's playground and at six in the morning when you've not long rolled out of bed, you really don't want to be messing with the devil.
"Come on Andrews, my ninety year old grandma can do better than that!" Axel screamed at one of the men who couldn't army crawl through thick mud while trapped under a giant net that he was unable to touch with his back fast enough.
"Move, move, move!" His loud mouth shouted. He spoke from his chest, projecting his voice loudly enough to move the sun around the earth faster than a day with just a push from his forceful sound waves.
I climbed a huge fence with great difficulty and then I hovered at the top.
"I hate this man." I complained to Nicole, through a struggle of trying to regain back my breath. "This whole fucking bootcamp is just some sexist shit where the men can oppress the women and he's the worst." I pointed down at Axel who stood at least ten feet below us.
"What are you two women chatting about, this isn't a social event, drop down the other side." He blasted at us. Nicole gave me an apologetic smile and then climbed down.
I glanced at the floor, beneath the fencing I sat on was a thick mud pit. Soft clay-like mud was there intentionally to break our fall. It must've been deep to cushion a ten foot drop, I bet if I threw myself into it then it would splatter everywhere.
"Lieutenant, Sir permission to speak?" I asked sweetly. He glanced up at me, his hands resting on his hips and twisted his face into a scowl.
"Permission granted Williams, what do you want?" Like always, he sounded annoyed.
"I can't climb down sir." He closed his eyes momentarily and breathed, trying to calm his budding anger. I sucked in my lips, hiding my smile. He stepped closer, tipping his head back to look up at me.
"What do you mean you can't climb down Williams? Either start climbing or I'm calling in another disciplinary." He folded his arm across his chest. People climbed up the ten foot fencing, shot me a warning look and climbed down the other side as they were meant to. I sat on top, stilled and gripping onto the fence for my dear life.

"I'm frightened of heights Sir." I told him.
"Jesus Christ Williams!" He rubbed his stubble and stepped closer. "You got up there, you can climb down." I peered over the edge, assessing the mud pit and his closeness to it. He needed to come a little bit closer.
"I can't!" I squealed out. He stepped closer. Bingo! I let go of the railing and jumped, landing feet first into the mud pit. My assumptions were correct, mud splattered everywhere. All over the Lieutenant he swiped his hands over his dirty face and flicked thick, wet mud away from his eyes. I heard a few sniggers break out from around the assault course. Axel breathed slowly but deeply, just staring at me.
"Um... am I going to get into trouble for this?" I asked sheepishly. "Because it was an accident." I lied.
"Five extra laps of the assault course Williams. Don't insult my intelligence by pretending that wasn't done on purpose. Now remove yourself from the pit and get yourself moving." He spoke through gritted teeth, his dislike for me abundantly clear. I fought my way through the mud and shook myself off on the lawn.
I'd say it was a bad idea because now I'm filthy and wet but seeing him covered in dirt too made it all worth it. I watched him every now and again flick the dirt off himself or give his clothes disapproving looks. It made me giggle at how uncomfortable he was.
After bootcamp ended he held me back for my five extra rounds of assault course. I rolled my eyes, wanting to just get them over and done with. I crawled through the mud, climbed over the fences, shimmied myself up a rope, ran through tires and it exhausted me. By round three I was dying.
"Pick up the pace Williams." Axel shouted with boredom.
"You know what! Fuck you!" I stopped next to him, poking my finger into his iron-like chest. He glanced down at it slowly, but otherwise unreactive to my outburst.
"I swear to god Harper." He shook his head at me and inhaled through his nose sharply.

"You're out here every day ordering us about, I bet you couldn't or wouldn't do this shit yourself!" I shoved my two hands into his chest, aiming to knock him back but he didn't even wobble.
So I did it again but this time he counteracted my attack, grabbing his two massive hands around my small wrists tightly.
"What don't you fucking get?" He asked, dropping his voice low. "Do you want to go to prison?" He asked me genuinely seeking an answer.
"No."
"You know this is my job, right?"
I said nothing.
"I am literally paid to keep you line. To make you do all of this stuff. You need to be ready for the fitness test or they'll send you away."
He pointed his head to the assault course, still keeping a firm grip on my wrists.
"If you step out of line it's my job to inform the judge. You're here because you dodged jail now you can start behaving yourself, show me respect or you leave me no choice but to tell the judge your boot camp isn't working out." He dropped his hold on my wrist and I lowered them down by my sides. "You've got two more rounds, complete them."
"Yeah two more rounds of an assault course you don't have the balls to do yourself." I muttered under my breath.
"Fuck sake Harper!" Clearly he heard me, oops.
"Hold this." He unhooked his walkie talkie belt thing and handed it to me, surprisingly it was heavy.
"And don't do anything dickish with it, just hold it." I looked down at it, what did he expect me to do with it?
He ran towards the ten foot wall and jumped almost halfway up, then he used his hands to pull his body the rest of the way. He didn't need to use the foot and hand holes like everybody else.
Okay, I'm not going to lie that was kinda hot.
He climbed down on the other side and skilfully ran between the tires, never messing up his steps. He got on the floor and army crawled through the mud, not letting his torso touch the floor or his back touch the net. Jeeze, he did everything really fast. It would usually take me half an hour to complete the full course.
Then he spider-man climbed up a single dangling rope making it look super easy. He dropped to the floor, sliding down the rope like a fireman on his pole and I wanted to fuck him right there and then.
He completed the whole assault course in under a minute without breaking a sweat. Fuck me, he was like a God. He returned to me, taking back his walkie talkie and fixing it in its rightful place - around his waist.
"Complete your two rounds." He said, nothing more, nothing less. My mouth was slightly agape, stunned that I actually just witnessed what had happened. "Harper!" he gestured to the assault course.
"Okay." I said slowly, yet I didn't move, my feet remained glued to the spot.
His muscles seemed to have grown even bigger after that small workout. His green shirt hugged his body in the most amazing way and his arms were like glutes.
Axel laughed, it was a beautiful sound. He appeared younger whenever he laughed, which wasn't often - or like ever.
"Harper all punishments must be done, I can't waiver on that. If I give you a punishment you need to complete it." I nodded. "Go!" He said with amusement, once again pointing at the assault course.
"Okay." I repeated but this time I moved myself. The display I put on was an embarrassment following his but at least I got it done.
"Okay Williams, move out." He said after my second round, back to his Lieutenant voice.
He saluted me and I saluted him.
Thankful to leave the field and go shower off all of this mud.
