Lydia
Go to an Indian wedding? I'm going to need more context than that. 😂
Lydia waited a few minutes for his response, continuing to scroll through Facebook on her laptop while her phone sat in waiting on her desk.
I've never been to an Indian wedding. It sounds fun. But why me?
I'm flattered that I meet your standards Johnny Scott 😚 but it's still a while from now. What if you're dating?
Alright. I'll be your plus one. On one condition.
You're paying for the flight to Cali.
What ? When ?! Haha.
Ooh. Those are so nice.
Lydia smiled, reminiscing on the times that her uncle had set her and the family up in the VIP box during an NFL game. Uncle Drayton's status as a famous quarterback for the cowboys was something that she'd become accustomed to from the time she was little. But it still made her feel strange when the kids at school fretted over it. She liked to stand on her own two feet and if someone was unaware of the close relationship that she had with him, she didn't feel the need to let them know.
Lydia set her phone down and went about getting dressed for the rest of the afternoon. Admittedly she found her mind wandering to Carter, keen to talk to him again despite their encounter being so brief.
Her phone buzzed from the desk as she pulled her shorts on and she opened the photo attached to the text.
Lydia had to admit, he was an attractive guy. She'd always found his features to be mesmerising. But now that he knew what to do with them, she could appreciate that he was hot.
Just about to head to the kitchen and stuff this face.
Lydia bit down on a grin and felt a little flutter in her stomach at the compliment. She was in the middle of typing out a modest thanks when her bedroom door opened and her mother strolled in, shutting it behind her.

She rested her hands on her hips and stared at the floor as she nervously chewed on her lip. Lydia could tell that she had something important to talk about it and it made her a little uneasy.
She folded her arms across her chest and shrugged. "Mom, what?"
Spencer glanced up with her lips pursed and her brows furrowed in pain. "Did Riley cheat on you?"
