I sat on the sofa in Malik's study, clasping my palms. It's been far too long I have been hiding and in just six weeks 375 years long of hiding has been revealed. And a thought of Aria popped in my head, oh no! She was clearly avoiding me, Aria had a tendency to do that when she was mad at me. Silent treatment she called it and I have been to busy to notice. I'll have to go find her.

"What are you thinking?" Malik asked.

"How furious Aria must be" I pursed my lips and sank deeper into the couch.

He nodded and sat behind his desk on the office chair there.

"I've been meaning to ask" his brow went up "how do you make your money? I know some other Alphas have businesses in the human societies but I hardly see any wolves here that leave the pack grounds"

"True. But the wolves that make our money are in the human societies already. They hardly come back here." He stated.

"I don't understand, why would they choose to abandon their pack and live with humans" I asked, hoping this will delay me from the inevitable a bit longer.

"They didn't abandon the pack, my ancestors selected families very long ago when we were on the verge of a war with the humans and sent them into their societies as spies, over time they infiltrated the humans being genetically enhanced it was easy to win over their favours and powerful positions."

"So they now live like them? How do you know they are still loyal to you?"

"I am not just any Alpha, Iris. This, this pack is deeper and more intense than you think, your not the only one with an intense past."

"Now you got me curious tell me about it, it is true I always wondered why this pack was more myth than real, more legend I mean."

He smiled placing his knuckles beneath his chin and supporting his head with his elbows on the table. "Don't think I don't know what you are trying to do my little witch" I scoffed "but if it'll make you feel more comfortable telling me about you I'll tell you about the pack your about to lead alongside me" he relaxed into his chair.

"About to?" I narrowed my eyes.

"Of course you might be my mate but your not yet my Luna" he said rather matter of factly.

I was taken aback. What does this mean? I was sure it was some weird ritual.

"I'll tell you about it another time" he smiled.

"Sure you will" I murmured. Looking back at him, encouraging him to tell me about his pack.

"The story goes far back to the beginning when gods still roamed the earth, they were seven brothers. Each of them had children, sons and daughters. Only the third he had two daughters and he loved them both dearly. At that time the gods married their children to each other but the third brother decided he wouldn't let his daughters marry one of the gods and live through a life of duties and unhappiness, because at that time none of the marriages really worked out. When gods married each other the marriage was never able to make either happy because they where too powerful and arrogant to submit to each other. So he left the dwelling of the gods and roamed the earth looking for a suitor for his eldest daughter. One day the youngest daughter went outside and got into trouble, she got angry and killed a villages cattle."

"I'm sorry" I interrupted "how is this a story of your pack?"

"Can you just listen?" He snapped.

"Fine" I threw my hands in the air.

"As I was saying, the youngest daughter was arrested and imprisoned by the witches at that time because the people of the place were merely mortal and couldn't restrain a god. The first sister got news of her sisters imprisonment and went out to save her. The witches said they would only release if she was able to give them the moon. So she went on a long journey to to get the moon, when she finally met him, she fell in love with him and he with her. But she refused to be with him because she was worried about her sister, so he sent her back to the witches with power to overcome them and free her sister. While she was back from her journey, her sister had learnt the spells and ways of the witches. Unconsciously slowly as time went by she became more and more like them. She wasn't willing to leave from there, and the moon found about it. He knew there was nothing he would say to convince the eldest otherwise so he began to meet with the youngest to convince her and prepare to leave with her sister. And since the youngest sister was already like the witches she was naturally drawn to the moon. She became obsessed with him and was madly in love. She wanted nothing than to be with him, but she couldn't since she was still with the witches. And she did not have enough power to escape from them. Immediately her sister came to rescue her she jumped at the opportunity together she and her sister killed all the witches. And they left."

"All of the witches?" I asked.

He sighed "yes"

I nodded and he went on "after that the moon asked their father for the eldest daughter to be married but the youngest daughter would not have it. She raised hell, causing chaos and havoc because she was obsessed with him. The father asked the eldest daughter if she was willing to let go for the youngest daughter but she too was infatuated with the moon. So their father forbade either of them to be with him and sent the moon away. But before he left he met the eldest daughter who was devastated at the news. While the were talking the youngest daughter was already brewing a plot to be with the moon she disregarded her father instructions. Before she could act on her plan the moon had gone away with her sister because he was as infatuated with her as she was with him. The youngest sister, mad with rage and heartbreak went out after them looking for blood. The eldest daughter was already pregnant for the moon when her sister found them. But she didn't know since her sister disguised herself as a commoner and worked as a hand maid.

One night while the eldest daughter was sleeping she made herself look like her sister as slept with the moon, she also got pregnant. When they had found out what had happened the moon banished her and swore that he would never be a father to her child because he was convinced from deception and malice. The sister was angry and in her anger she killed the moon, the eldest daughter was heartbroken and enraged so she killed her sisters unborn child. When their father heard about this he cursed bother sisters. He cursed the eldest that she would give birth to a child that was both man and beast and his life would be hard and he would have to live alone and sad because no woman would ever love him. And the second sister that she would never have children. But the moon had given all his power to the eldest daughter as he died so she used that power to create a mate for her son when he was born. A mate just like him who would live him unconditionally no matter what. Since then she began to create more beings like her son because she didn't want him to feel lonely in the end. He would have a people she did everything to prevent the unhappiness her father had cursed. It was the moon's blessing to his child. That child was called lycan."

I was so entrapped in the story, "so what happened to the sister? There is no way she would sit by and let her sister get away with all of it?"

"She didn't she started to steal the moon goddess creations, her wolves, she raised them as hers. So the moon goddess sent her son lycan to kill the sister but she was too powerful and she killed him as well. The moon goddess filled with despair went and cried to their father. The father then cursed her saying that she would meet her end from the very children she had stolen. And the child would destroy her and everything she loved with the help of moon goddess blood line."

"So your pack is in this story how?" I asked. Malik shook his head "I am that bloodline Iris, a direct descendant of lycan"

I furrowed my brows "so your saying you have the moon goddesses blood?"

He nodded.

I shook my head "if the moon goddess is your ancestor then that means that my mother is the youngest daughter in your story"

He nodded again.

"Oh" realization dawned on me, I was that child that the father spoke of. It was me I was a curse to my mother but wait, stolen what does he mean stolen.

"You're lying" I stood up abruptly. "How dare you say the youngest daughter stole the moon goddesses creations? Are you trying to tell me that the my mother isn't really my mother? That she stole my sisters and I from the moon goddess?"

"Iris I know this is a lot to take in but you have to calm down" he said sternly.

I paced to and fro the room my anger slowly building what does this mean? He knew? I was so confused.

"So you knew about the prophecy, you know the truth about witches? Why am I just hearing this know? And what makes you think my mother didn't create us as well?"

"Oh please Iris that power to create was given to the moon goddess by the moon, the mother west could not have it no matter how much magic she learned from the witches."

I scowled at him, "so how come we can do magic?" I narrowed my eyes, "wait stupid question that's pretty clear."

"But it doesn't make sense, it doesn't make sense" I grabbed my hair. "I can't believe you."

"Okay? Why is it that none of the witches have mates?" That was question all if us asked, mother always told us we were not mere wolves that needed to be completed and love made us weak. But up until now I still wondered why I had a mate.

"So wait you knew about the prophecy?"

"Yes, but I didn't know it was you until recently after I marked you. I had suspicions when I found out you were a witch."

"And when was that?"

"In the forest when you healed your friend and after I saw the door of the cell where I kept her."

I vividly remembered using a spell to get the door out of the way.

"But the prophecy says that her direct bloodline would help."

"Well finally you caught up" he grinned.

So that's what the moon goddess meant by I couldn't do it without him.

"For generations my ancestors searched for the one thought to be the prophecy but we always came back empty handed, I see I am the one that is the one that gets to fulfill prophecy."

Everything just seemed uncomfortable and unreal, how was this even happening?

"Is that why you sent spies to the west?"

"Yeah, it has been out duty ever since to look for you Iris. Today when I saw those witches I couldn't feel more angry but I also couldn't help feel happy-" my brows went up "I finally get to avenge my mother for all the things her sister did to both of us."

"Wait what do you mean 'finally and mother'" I gasped "don't tell me"

"Yes Iris, I am Lycan"
