《His Angel - Klaus Mikaelson》Chapter 10 - 2x11

"Now that you've got this back, what are you going to do with it?" Elena sighed, palming the moonstone in her hand as she turned towards Bonnie and me.

Elena invited me early that morning to her house to talk logistics. She also mentioned that we should stick together, after the information that Elijah was still alive.

"Right now it's what's binding the Sun and Moon curse," Bonnie explained, leaning her head on her hand. "If I can figure out a way to remove the spell from the stone, the stone becomes useless."

"And according to Katherine," I piped up. "Klaus becomes vengeful. Meaning you're going to die either way."

"Not helping," Bonnie side-eyed me, but I could see the twinkle of amusement in her eyes.

"Bonnie, can't this wait?" Elena decided to ignore my snarky comment. "Stefan is in the tomb with Katherine! We've gotta get him out."

"Stefan wants me to focus on this," Bonnie reminded her.

"Well don't listen to him! He thinks he's protecting me, and he's wrong," Elena protested angrily.

"Well, it doesn't help that you want to go killing yourself like you did yesterday," I commented. "I mean seriously, I go to school for one day without including myself into the drama, and I hear that you almost got handed over, Jeremy almost died trying to get the stone, and Stefan is now trapped in the tomb! Is it impossible for you guys to have one normal day?"

"This is our life, Kaitlyn. And if you can't handle it, then you should leave," Elena told me in her usual annoying voice.

"You invited me here," I pointed out.

"Yeah, only because Elijah's out for both of us. And we're stronger than ever together!" Elena said.

"Well then wouldn't it be smarter for us to be separate, then it takes him longer to look for us? Besides, I only agreed to come because I needed to keep an eye on you. With my luck, you'll get us both sacrificed somehow."

"Okay," Bonnie broke in. "As I was saying, I'm taking Stefan's side on this one. I am not going to let you get used in this creepy sacrifice ritual."

"What are you guys arguing about?" we heard an undeveloped male voice say, and we turned to see Jeremy walk in.

"We're not arguing about anything," Bonnie glared. "I'm going to get a coffee."

She left Elena and me alone, and the brunette immediately crossed her arms stubbornly and turned away from me.

I just grabbed my bag from the floor and got up from the bed.

"So, I know that you're fine with missing a handful of school days, but I'm not. So bye," I called and walked down the hall.

Behind me, I heard Elena fiddling with Bonnie's bag, but I didn't pay attention to her, even when I heard her footsteps behind me.

"Where are you going?" Bonnie asked Elena accusingly as she reached the bottom of the stairs.

I was about to walk through the door, but spun around, a little guilty to be looking forward to this drama.

"Stefan's," Elena stuttered quickly, and Bonnie shot a look towards Jeremy, who had come from the top of the stairs, dangling Bonnie's bag in his hands.

"She took the moonstone," Jeremy said musically.

"How did you–" Elena trailed off.

"We tested you, and you failed," Bonnie remarked calmly, yet with a little disappointment.

"Who knew you were this suicidal," I muttered under my breath. "Or maybe you have a little crush on Elijah? Is that why you keep trying to contact him? I mean, I don't blame you. Have you seen the guy?"

Elena gave me a hard stare before turning back to Bonnie.

"Klaus killed Katherine's entire family just because she crossed him," Elena mentioned. "I can't let that happen."

I couldn't see Bonnie's expression but was a little confused when she side-stepped out of her friend's way, allowing Elena to rush to the door.

Immediately, the girl banged into a barrier, which was seemingly invisible.

She turned around restlessly. "What did you do?"

"It's for the best, Elena," Bonnie tried to assure her.

"Oh hell no!" I finally spoke up. "Please don't tell me you've locked us into a house together!"

"Don't worry Kaitlyn. You can get out, and Jeremy and I can as well, it's just Elena who can't," Bonnie explained, and I huffed in relief.

"Thank god! Now I'm going to school. Toodles!"

On the way to the hell school, my phone rang and I pulled it out to see it was Caroline.

"Hey!" I greeted happily. "Are you going to be late for school again?"

"Yeah," she murmured worriedly. "I'm helping Tyler set up for tonight. It's his first full moon."

"Okay, I'll cover for you," I confirmed, and she sighed thankfully.

"I actually wanted to talk to you about Tyler. This girl showed up on his doorstep today, asking questions about Mason."

"What?" my breath caught in my throat. "Who is she?"

"I don't know, some friend of Mason's?" Caroline guessed. "But Tyler's getting really suspicious about his uncle's whereabouts. And I'm worried this girl is up to no good."

"What's her name?" I asked curiously, even though it wasn't going to help the situation.

"I think it's Jules."

"Well, I'll keep an eye out for her," I told Caroline, and then hung up, having arrived at the school.

I met up with Matt in the front, who looked unusually grumpy as he fiddled with the strings on his hoodie.

"What's up?" I questioned, as he frowned even deeper.

"It's Caroline, Katie. She broke up with me a while ago you know?" he reminded me, and I remembered, being the one who encouraged it. But of course, Matt didn't know that.

"She's hanging out with Tyler now. Like all the time," he said jealously.

"Matt it's not what you think," I tried to tell him, but he cut me off.

"So it's not that she's hanging out with him and doing something secret that she apparently can't tell me?"

"Well...." I attempted to find an excuse, but he saw straight through me.

"You know what they're doing?" Matt challenged. "You gotta tell me, Katie!"

"They're just friends, at least I think they are," I reassured weakly.

"Wow, that helps," Matt muttered sadly, but seemed to accept it for the time being.

As we walked into the entrance of the school, it felt as if someone was watching me. I looked behind me and scanned the area, but didn't see anyone I recognized, so I shrugged off the unnerving feeling and went to my class.

School felt like it had been going on for days once I had finished. I was so glad to get to my locker and practically dashed out of the building's doors.

I didn't even wait for Matt, who would usually just waddle after me in panic at my speed, but he wasn't with me this afternoon.

He probably had a shift working at the Grill.

I passed the Lockwood estate as I did each day when I was walking to my apartment from school. But this time I stopped, because I saw a car in front of it, which I swear I had seen before.

I remembered seeing a car that morning when I went to Elena's, and then again when I walked to school. Was the person inside it following me?

I could see a woman inside the car, and she was talking quite loudly. From the looks of it, she seemed to be in a deep conversation about something important.

"–another werewolf in town," her voice cut in as I walked closer. "His nephew."

I marched up to the car confidently and knocked roughly on the window. After a few seconds, it rolled down, and a blonde head stuck out, looking at me expectantly.

"What do you–" the woman broke off, apparently recognizing me. "Oh, it's you."

"It's you?" I mimicked in bewilderment. "How do you know me? Who even are you?"

She faltered, unexpected by my interrogations, and wet her dry lips, probably a nervous habit.

"I'm new in town. I'm here looking for my friend Mason. Have you heard of him?"

"You're Jules," I deadpanned without question, and she looked surprised.

"Yes, yes I am."

"Were you following me this morning?" I challenged.

"What? Of course n–..... YES, yes I was. I'm just looking into all of the people Mason was involved with. I need to find out what happened to him," she stuttered, and it almost looked like she was covering for someone.

But I'm sure she was the one following me.

"Why are you talking about him like he's dead?" I asked nervously.

"Well he is, isn't he?" she said accusingly, her eyes glinting furiously.

"I, um, wouldn't know," I stammered. "Anyway, I need to go. I would say it was nice talking to you, but it really wasn't."

I turned around to leave, but stopped at the sound of her voice, when she yelled, "Wait! How about you join me for a late lunch at the Grill right now?"

I turned around and laughed sarcastically. "Why would I want to do that?"

"Because I have some information that I'm betting you want to know. And in return, you can tell me something."

I put my hands on my hips, awaiting her weak answer. But what she said next startled me.

"I know what you are. And I know how you can fully transform."

"What?" I panted, releasing a sharp breath. "What are you talking about?"

"You heard my conversation, and so you now know that I am aware of the supernatural. In fact, I'm a werewolf, which probably doesn't surprise you. I'm sure you think you have everything handled, and that in no time at all, you'll find out what you are. But you're wrong. You'll find no information about your species at all. You are one of the last ones left," she explained dramatically, but I found myself unfortunately hooked.

"Fine, I'll have lunch with you," I gave in. "But what information would you want in return?"

"Just a little dirt on some of your friends," she said mischievously.

"Okay."

That couldn't hurt, right? I mean, she wasn't planning anything horrible and drastic, was she? And besides, in the worst-case scenario, I could always lie.

"We can walk to the Grill. It's only 5 minutes away," she stepped out of her car and tucked her phone in her back pocket.

Then she started walking, expecting me to catch up.

"So you're only in Mystic Falls for Mason?" I asked curiously, running to walk beside her. "Once you find out what happened to him, you'll leave?"

"So you agree? That something happened to him?" she caught on quickly. "And relax, you won't have to see me ever again if you give me the right information at lunch. I'll be gone in no time. After all, you don't think anything that bad happened to him, do you?"

She watched me closely, and I took note that she was extremely perceptive, remembering small details about everything.

"I didn't really know him," I said truthfully. "But from what I heard, he was a nice guy."

This was true as well. I had been sad and angry when I learned that Damon had killed him. He didn't deserve to die. And from what I could guess because it was Damon, he died a gruesome way.

My thoughts were cut short as I slammed into a body walking towards me. I stumbled back but hands quickly shot out and wrapped around my upper arms.

"Speak of the devil," I mumbled under my breath as I saw it was Damon I ran into. "Hey."

He gave me a huge smile, then must have remembered what happened a few nights ago, and it shrank a little.

"Hey," he greeted, then jerked his head to the impatient woman next to me. "Who's this?"

"This is Jules," I emphasized her name subtly so that it would catch Damon's attention.

"Oh, Damon Salvatore, nice to meet you," he stuck out a hand for her to shake, but she just looked him up and down, clear distaste visible on her face.

Awkwardly, he pulled his hand back.

"Okay," he muttered. "See you around Kaitlyn."

He patted my shoulder uncertainly, then took it off dramatically, and stomped away.

"Did you two have like a major breakup or something?" Jules tried not to snicker.

"No," I gritted my teeth. "We're just friends. Are we going in or not?"

∆ ∆ ∆

She decided to sit by the bar, and I followed suit, hoping that this would be a good and smart use of my time.

"Just some fries and water Matt," I ordered, while Jules merely ordered a scotch.

"So, tell me. You know Tyler Lockwood is a werewolf," she dove right into the topic.

"Yeah, tonight's his first full moon. What's it to you?" I answered lightly.

"Well, Mason cared deeply for his nephew. And Mason was my friend. So, therefore, I feel like it is my duty to check in on Tyler," she clarified easily.

"Did you come into town with friends?" I asked suspiciously. "Because earlier, you messed up when you lied that you were the one following me."

"You're an observant one," she chuckled.

I smiled, but without humor. "You are too."

"Yes, I came with friends. And yes, one of them was tailing you. I had other business to take care of."

"Do I know any of your friends?" I asked randomly, hoping to somehow trip her up with my series of questions.

"That's none of your concern," she said sharply, downing her scotch.

Okay........ steer clear of the topic of her friends.

"Tell me who the vampires in this town are?" she questioned, gripping her now empty glass.

"I don't know any," I replied emptily.

"Don't be dumb Kaitlyn. I already know that Caroline Forbes is one. I know there is a witch. Are Damon and Stefan vampires?" she dug deeper.

"Yes," I answered, thinking this was probably the least harmful question she could ask me.

"Now it's your turn," I cautioned, digging into my fries which another waiter had served just a few seconds ago.

She took a few seconds to contemplate her thoughts, then another few to watch in slight disgust as I devoured my fries in a matter of seconds.

"I suggest you stop judging me on my reaction with hunger, and start spitting out facts," I warned, licked the tips of my fingers and then leaning back in my chair.

"Well, to be honest, I don't know much," she admitted, and I sat up angrily.

"Are you telling me that you've been wasting these very valuable minutes of my life?" I asked in annoyance, about to leave.

"Stop!" she hissed. "I do know some things."

I rested back again on my chair, waiting impatiently for her information.

"I am not quite sure what exactly you are," she quickly continued when she saw me roll my eyes. "But I do know that you are some form of divinity. You gain your power from your dead parents, and can fully transform once you know how to harness your power. Depending on what you are, there are spells or objects which can help you obtain this. In special cases, you can transform in your other self if you are motivated enough, say in a life or death situation."

I had to admit, I was intrigued.

"But how would I find out what I was if there is no information about it?" I asked desperately.

"Well, you would need to ask someone extremely old. You are something that the world hasn't seen in many centuries. I'm sure of it. Who is the oldest vampire you know?" she scanned my face, trying to find the answer before I even revealed it.

My first thought was Rose. She was 500 years old or something. But then I remembered Elijah. Technically, he was the oldest creature on the earth, that was still alive. It was crazy dangerous, but I had to ask him.

Our conversation was interrupted when Alaric staggered drunkenly over to us, and heavily leaned down on the counter as he faced Jules. He sat down with some effort, and then gulped down air.

"Well hello," he said drunkenly. "Can I have a Scotch, and whatever this beautiful woman is drinking?"

"Oh no, one's my limit," Jules protested flirtily, but I could tell she was extremely ticked off.

"Alaric," I chuckled lightly but sent him a death glare. "Why don't you go, somewhere else!"

He glared back at me and stuck his tongue out in defiance.

"I'm just being friendly to someone new in town," he defended himself, swinging back and forth on his stool so hard, that I was afraid he would tip over.

"Okay, if you insist," Jules agreed. "How do you know I'm new?"

"Because I've never seen you before. And I am here, every night," Alaric puffed while I tried to analyze the situation.

Had Damon forgotten to tell Alaric that she was a potential threat to our town?

Coincidentally, Damon strode over and stepped in between me and Jules.

"I'm sorry, is this guy bothering you?" Damon questioned in concern.

"I am not bothering anybody," Alaric blubbered to himself.

"Perfect," Damon said cooly. "Well, do it elsewhere."

What was this boy planning?

Just then the waiter at the bar handed out two glasses of alcoholic liquid, and Damon eyed them slyly.

"Don't worry, he's harmless. He's sort of the town drunk," Damon was saying to Jules, and from my sight, I could clearly see he was distracting her.

Looking past them, I could see Alaric shake some powder into one of the glasses, and then walk away.

Suddenly their plan dawned on me. They were testing to see if she was a werewolf. But shoot, she was! I needed to tell them somehow. Also, she knew that Damon was a vampire, which meant he was toast if he angered her. After all, it was the full moon tonight.

"Thank you for the drink," Jules politely called after the drunken teacher, raising it up, and then putting it back down on the counter.

Damon and her started some small talk, while he kept eyeing her drink, desperate to have her sip it. It was obvious that she wasn't interested in the conversation, and definitely suspicious of him after the information I let her know.

I kept trying to pull Damon away and talk to him, but he just swatted me with his hand, earning a huff from me.

My phone dinged, and I pulled it out to see it was a text from Elena.

Come to my house ASAP. Elijah's here.

My eyes widened slightly, as I slipped my phone into my purse.

"You haven't touched your drink," Damon laughed lightly, yet it sounded forced.

"Um," she smiled a little nastily, and hesitantly picked it up. "I'm not much of a drinker. I should get going."

"Yeah," I added firmly. "We are done talking anyway. Bye!"

"Oh come on," Damon protested anxiously, sending me a what-the-heck-is-your-problem look. "Look, just one drink."

"It'll help me sleep," she raised it towards her lips, but then her nose quivered and wrinkled as she smacked the glass back down on the table, the liquid sloshing dangerously inside.

"You fool," she growled. "Think you're clever don't you?"

"What do you want with Mason Lockwood?" Damon challenged.

"He's my friend," Jules replied honestly.

"Well I'm sorry to inform you that you probably won't find him," Damon jeered, and I almost smacked my head on the table.
