《The Alpha and I (Book 1)》5. Alpha Ash

"Dear moon goddess. I have never felt so out of control. It started last night. All my wolf wanted to do was run and kill Paul... I litterally wanted to rip his throat out." Remembering I was alone and talking to myself I started to think what I wanted her to know in case someone heard me. 'I mean I usually want to strangle him but this time I wanted to rip is throat out for no apparent reason.' I stare at some pack documents trying to ignore my grumpy wolf.

Thinking of him and the pack I mind linked Paul: 'Did you tell that Midnight Sky Pack girl yet?' Thinking of how he was promised a strong Alpha daughter to marry and laughing at how he had described the shaking child left at his door!

'I did yeah, she didn't take it to well' he responds a minute later.

I sigh but we have no room in this pack for weaklings I think just as Paul comes into the house. I make the mistake of taking a deep breath just as he walks in and the intoxicating smell of cinnamon and apples fills my senses and my wolf takes over. "WHERE IS SHE!" My wolf screams through me. I try to hold him back but he runs and pins Paul to the wall.

"Who-o?" Paul asks trying to shove me back but I am too strong.

"MY MATE" I growl deeply "I can smell her on you."

"I don't know what you're talking about" he claims, "the only female I've been around is the girl promised to marry me.... the one who we are sending away" he muttered the last bit.

"NO WE AREN'T, SHE'S MINE" I roar into his face. "Don't make me ask again... where is she?!?!"

"Myy Placccceeee." He whimpers.

I growl again. "You've better not of fucking touched her." I yell letting him go. He falls to the floor clutching his throat.

'Why do I all of a sudden care for this girl?' I scream at my wolf. He says one word... 'mate' and forces us to shift. We tear off through the woods to Paul's cabin. My wolf takes a deep breath. The most intoxicating smell ever is in the air only making him growl harder. He knocks down the door and he lets me shift back. I run through the house looking for her. For some reason I feel like shes in danger. Finally I see her on the couch.... her face is as white as a sheet and in her hand is a bottle of pills.

I run over and snatch them out of her hands but I see its to late. I look at her face and I can't believe that in front of me is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. My wolf howls in my heard for me to snap out of it, he screams at me 'She's an Alpha and my mate and she's dying'.

"Oh my god." Fear starts to sink into me. I grab her off the couch and sprint out of the house. My wolf is trying not to jump out and go kill someone. 'WHO DID THIS?' I shout through the mind link but am met with silence. I growl. I look down. Her face is as white as a sheet. I don't even realize I'm crying until I get to the doctors. "Help her!" I sob laying her on the nearest bed. The doctors look frozen for a second, probably shocked at my state. Crying is a foreign feeling to me. I've never cried. Never felt weak and helpless like I do now. I stare at her pale unmoving body... A few minutes later Paul runs in. I can just make out the faint bruise marks on his neck from where I choked him. Suddenly all the weakness is replaced by fury.

"What happened." I growl running and slamming him into the wall.

"I just left her for like five minutes!" Her stutters. I groan and release him.

"This isn't how it's supposed to happen." I mumble and run my fingers through my hair. "She's a weakling, not a Luna."

"I know, it doesn't make sense." Paul says staring at me. I sigh again and sit down. I was the strongest Alpha in the country, my mate was supposed to be a legend, a powerful she wolf... the perfect Luna. What I just held, she was far from that. "This is some mistake." I growl. "I don't even smell her wolf."

"I know boss, she doesn't have one, he father convinced me she could still bare strong pups because of her Alpha title but she turned up like this." Paul frowns. "She's so weak." I put my face in my hands and let out a groan...This is a disaster.

I hear some screaming from the other room and immediately bolt in. My wolf takes over because the scream, was hers. "She's shifting Alpha!" Yells one of the nurses, I frown and push past her. Two doctors are holding her down but she's writhing around and patches of fur are sticking out of her skin.
