George was drowning.
Slowly he sank down to the bottom of the ocean, looking up at the surface, that was hit by the light of the full moon.
Except for the sound of the water moving it was quiet, not a thought in his head anymore.
He felt how his lungs ached for air, but all his muscles betrayed him, made him lay there in the sand, between corals and fish.
Everything felt blurry, yet was so clear in sight.
He could see it, could see the surface, could see what would safe him.
But still no way, out of those bonds, that held him captive under the masses of water.
His heart contracted, a sting of pain filling his being.
He felt his eyes tearing up, so this was the end?
Suddenly a familiar face pushed into his sight, a wide smile and bright eyes.
"George!"
George smiled, it was Dream.
His beloved Dream.
"Dream", he mumbled, air bubbles floating up to the surface, he was sure he would now see his life rush by.
But that wasn't the case, Dream reached out caressed his cheek.
"Don't hold your breath, that's not healthy."
And George listened, letting out the breath he had been holding for what felt like centuries.
And then he breathed in.
He breathed in filled his lungs with... air?
He didn't notice himself, not until Dream told him.
"You're not drowning George. You're safe."
George looked down at Dream, seeing the orange overall that Dream Hand to wear in prison, realizing this wasn't just a memory.
"You're real.", he breathed, "You escaped."
"Yes I did, because I need to be with you. Couldn't wait a day longer.", Dream said fondly, "I missed you."

George felt the bonds that held him captive weaken.
"I missed you too."
Dream took his hands, made the bonds disappear.
"George, I love you."
George teared up.
"I haven't heard you say that in a year.", he whispered, tears mixing with the water around them, "I love you too Dream."
Gently George reached out, caressed Dreams cheeks, slowly running his fingers over scars, that he knew Dream hadn't had before.
"What happened?", he asked, voice weak.
"That's- That's a story for another time.", Dream mumbled, looking away.
His hands had started to shake, just a tiny little bit, but George felt it, knew he shouldn't ask again anytime soon.
Dream placed his head on Georges chest, arms wrapping around his waist.
The brunette smiled softly, ran his fingers through the messy hair.
George started to feel tired.
"George?" "Hm?" "You should wake up."
"What?" "Wake up."
George woke up with a gasp, shot up into a sitting position.
His heart ran a marathon in his chest, pumping adrenaline through his veins.
When he looked around, he saw that he was home... in Florida.
He quickly turned to his left, found Dream who woke up from George moving so quickly.
"Dream!", George exclaimed, tears running over his cheeks, as he hugged him tightly.
Dream was absolutely overwhelmed and confused, but hugged George back, just as tight.
"Why are you crying?", he asked, sitting up with George on his lap, when he realized that George was shaking, "Hey, it's alright, I'm here I'm gonna protect you."
George held so tight onto him, that Dream thought the brunette was not convinced he was actually with him.
"I love you.", George sobbed, "I love you so much."
Concern now fully overtook Dream, knowing George wasn't one to just throw around an I love you.

"What happened?", he asked gently cupping Georges face with soft hands, wiping away the tears.
"You escaped from the prison and you were hurt and you saved me from drowning and you were gone for so long and I- I don't want you to go. I love you Dream, I love you more than anything."
George sounded fragile and it broke Dreams heart, seeing the man he loved breaking in his arms.
"I will never go away, you'll have to deal with me forever, okay?", Dream said, seeing George nod slightly, "I love you too George, with all of my heart. I swear, and I'll love you for all of eternity too, there will never be a day, that I won't fall in love with you again. And there won't be a day on which I'd leave either, cause I'm already were I'm meant to be, I'm with you and that's all that matters."
Dream leaned his forehead against George's and whispered: "And there won't be a day on which I wouldn't kill god just to safe you. I'd do anything to keep you safe."
And then George kissed him.
Softly and it made Dream loose his mind, just the way any kiss of George did.
He knew he could do this forever.
Kissing George on an early morning, like it was the only thing that mattered, like it was the only thing he was ever meant to do.
"I'm so grateful for you.", George mumbled against his lips, slowly burying his fingers between Dreams messy curls, "You're everything I need."
Dream smiled, looked at him like a puppy that found his forever home after years in a shelter.
"You're so adorable, baby. You're everything I need too, all I could ever need."
He face planted into Georges chest and someone it reminded the brunette of Patches. He smiled.
His heart felt so full and right then and there he knew Dream was the man he was destined to be with, destined to love and to be loved by.
And he couldn't have been happier with the universes choice.
