《Spoilers : The Abandonned Empress》Analysis : Ji-Eun and some others things related

Those spoilers are all from novel updates.

All I did is sumerising them.

Also, don't take me wrong, I'm absolutely not trying to defend Ruve but I still wish to explain why things happened the way they did in this timeline.

I just want to give the rationale for the actions of the first timeline.

So, Ji-Eun is basically an average 16 years old Korean girl.

Imagine getting thrown into a game of thrones setting at 16. She lost her friends and family and is completely alone in the new world.

Zena tells Ji-Eun about all the s**t that goes down and basically says "If you don't manage to get Prince Ruve's support, you will probably get raped and killed cause the politics here are deadly".

He also tells Ji-Eun "Ruve is desperate for love, so just be happy and smiling and tell him you love him". So Ji-Eun, terrified for her life, does everything she can to seduce Ruve and he falls in love with her because she is "honest" with her feelings and "innocent".

But the feelings of Ruve toward Jieun were merely affection. Not love.

Thus Tia becomes the "abandoned empress" and Ji-Eun the actual empress and the Empire is triving.

You ought to read Jieun's POV in the novel since the comic portrays Jieun as a villain and a girl who interfered in the romance between Tia and Ruve. In the beginning of the comic, the story is told by Tia, so readers think Tia's a victim but you don't know the others' angles such as Jieun, Ruve. In fact, Tia is extremely cold in the timeline 1.

Jieun didn't love Ruve in the start and tried to be friends with Tia but Tia rejected Jieun many times. Tia didn't give Jieun a chance as she detested Jieun because Jieun stole her position as Empress and Ruve's love.

You forget that Jieun rejected Ruve and stopped him from stepping into her chamber, Jieun did all of that because of Tia. When Jieun knew Tia was pregnant, she was angry because she didn't know Tia slept with Ruve.

Don't forget that Jieun is a modern girl and it's unacceptable to have a husband who has another woman and their child.

For me the only BAD person in this story only DUKE JENNA

For jieun, we can't say she's good or bad person, she's just a type of person who will do anything to survive and stay alive "if with kill u i can survive, i will be a killer"

(" i don't love you, but if i'm married with u can help me to stay alive i'll do it" )

Don't forget, maybe she's a person who "kill" tia in 1st life but she's also a same person who save tia from death in 2nd life

Just imagine u're only a high school girl and suddenly u come to a palace in.other world, involved with aristocracy battle and at the end u being killed, and u got a chance to have 2nd life but u end up being exiled to other country and ur beautiful black hair turn into white forever, ( if i become jieun seriously i wanna killed Vita who bring me to unknown world LOL )

For 1st life tragedy, if u read from tia POV ( from manhwa) we will say ruve and jieun are the bad one, but after u read another side of story from ruve/jieun perspective.

We will have "understanding" feeling why they become like that in 1st life..... ( i think 90% reader haven't ready a side story from ruve and jieun POV ).

So.

Tia is executed.

And now that Tia is gone, Ji-Eun must now do all of Tia's duties.

How can you expect a modern 16-21 year old girl to run an Empire ?

Ji-Eun makes A TON of dumb decisions and that with all the other crazy going on means the Empire goes to ruins.

All the people that used to praise Ji-Eun and say "Tia is so smug and unlikable" suddenly turn on Ji-Eun.

Suddenly everyone says "Ji-Eun is such a dumbass. How can anyone be so dumb? She's probably faking dumb and is actually evil and wants us to all suffer and die.

Nobody can be THAT dumb.

When Tia was Queen, she was so smart and the Empire was thriving." Basically everyone regretted trashing Tia and wished she were still alive and the Empress.

Ji-Eun is devastated that suddenly everyone turned on her and one day Ruve finally tells her, after another dumb decision, "Why are you so dumb? I wish you had died and Tia was Empress".

Ji-Eun also gets pregnant at this time and feels so alone and powerless and worried about the future of her baby.

After Ruve died in the first timeline, Ji-Eun gives birth to a girl, who cannot inherit the throne and with Ruve dead, it means the royal lineage is broken.

Zena can now over take the throne legally, so he decides to kill Ji-Eun and stabs her and her baby daughter to death.

Ji-Eun b****es to god/Vita about how unfair her life was and Vita (God) offers Ji-Eun a choice.

She can send Ji-Eun back to modern day Korea with her memories completely erased, or she can send Ji-Eun back to the moment she arrived in the Abandoned Empress world with her memories intact.

Ji-Eun does miss Korea and her family, but don't forget this choice came literally 10 seconds after she got stabbed in the stomach by her "friend" Duke Zena.

Jieun literally closed her eyes after being killed by Duke Jenna and opens them again when she arrives in the imperial garden, and the first thing she sees is Ruve walking with Duke Jenna by his side. (That's why she looked shocked in the manhwa.)

She sadly never got to see her family again or prepare to come back to this world.

In second timeline Ji-Eun hates Ruve for abandoning her ("I wish Tia was alive and you were dead instead"), hates Zena for manipulating and killing her, and most of all, hates that Tia took everyone's love even in death.

(There is even a POV of Emperor Mirkan who doesn't understand why her eyes shines with a light of anger and hate during the trial. This is also (maybe but I can be wrong) the reason why her eyes seem different in 2nd timeline.

Purple eyes : anger and hateful.

Red eyes : stupid and clueless.

Remember, after the Empire started to crumble, the people and Ruve all said they regretted how they treated Tia and wished she was the Empress and said Ji-Eun was dumb trash.

Ji-Eun also thinks if she runs away to Korea with her memories erased, it means admitting to herself she lost to Tia, that she is and will always be inferior to Tia.

She thinks if she actually works hard she can match Tia and become a powerful empress who can take revenge on Prince Ruve and Duke Zena.

Thus in her anger and pride, she chooses to relive a second life instead of going back home to Korea.

The reason I think that so many people hate Jieun is not because she is a bad person but because she is a bad

Because that was she was supposed to be. She was literally sent by a god to another world to save an empire, given magic powers, given a name that proclaimed her loved by all and failed utterly.

If this were a visual novel she would have gotten the worst ending by taking the easiest route. Because she didn't act like the everyone was telling her she was.

The Emperor and his true love were being poisoned by an evil Duke. If she had acted like real hero and not just blindly believed the villain when he spun his ridiculous lies she might have managed to save the first timeline. She was given those healing powers for a reason.

I mean come on! The child of prophecy proclaimed by god would never be just thrown out on the street. And she's Korean for goodness sake. If she isn't familiar with transmigration stories then she lived in a hole for eighteen years.

She's not an ordinary girl. She's the chosen hero and she sucks at it. She's lazy,a liar, petty, a coward and everything hero shouldn't be.

That's why the god had to reincarnate and empower Tia. Because the chosen was a total failure at her job.

Yes she didn't ask for it. But the second time she came back the that world on purpose when given a chance to go back home.

To save the empire and be the hero she was always meant to be?

She wanted revenge.

Against the husband who she lied about loving in the first place.

Against the innocent woman who's corpse she was jealous of.

And against the villain she was supposed to help defeat but instead believed every stupid lie he said till the he came to kill her and her child.

Judging her as an ordinary person isn't fair because she was meant to be so much more and failed utterly.

Twice.

But this is a realistic story.

In real life if someone were taken form there life into a medieval shithole most people would have mental breakdowns. Not go all Captain America on everyones ass.

Its easy to think she would should have seen though the lies but that's cause we read the novel and we know whats gonna happen. She dosent have that knowledge. But in the second life she does and successfully brings him down along with tia

It was a wonder she stayed as stable as she did. Why didn't "god" choose a marine or something if they wanted someone to be a hero. She's not lazy, petty or a coward. Shes a normal teenage girl with modern education and values. Not someone who was raised to run an emperor not to be a hero.

And her kids as killed infront go her and her husband turned out to be an ass. Don't blame her for making that choice in anger

And not a lot of people actually hate Jieun. Alot of korean readers liked her and was pissed that the ending she got was too harsh.

(Personally, I think she's a great personal threat to Tia and their relationship is one of the highlights of the story. I'd say her development is the inverse of Tia's: she grew colder whole Aristia opened up.)
