《Far Too Little (Age Regression)》10. Camping

Ricky's falsetto filled the air as we drove along the dirt roads. Just because he couldn't hit the high notes in defying gravity, didn't mean he wouldn't try.
Wren, who had woken up from his nap half way through the journey, clapped once he finished.
"Daddy funny!"
Ricky reached into the backseat and ruffled Wren's thick hair.
" You think I'm funny, huh little boy?"
I watched through the car mirror as Wren whined and pulled down his onesie hood, I chuckled and Ricky smirked.
"Where's my little baby go?-"
Ricky spoke in fake surprise
"-All I see is a smol little kitty"
Wren threw his hood back and Ricky gasped
"I right here Daddy!"
"Wren, how'd you do that? you must be magic!"
Wren's eyes lit up
"I magic?!"
Ricky and I both laughed
"Sure bubba, now get ready, were almost there"
Ricky squealed as I pulled us into the small gravel car park. They're was only one other car, which was good cause I knew wouldn't want to many people around.
Ricky threw open the car door and stepped out, quickly opening the back door and unbuckling Wren from his car seat. I climbed out too, standing next to the two as they looked over the lake not too far away.
"Ricky you can go swimming once we get the tent set up"
Ricky turned to me and pouted, Wren seeing his Daddy's pout, started pouting too.
"David, the water is calling to me! Don't make me sing Moana at you"
"Come on, the tent only tales a few minutes to set up, it's a fancy one where you don't need any poles"
"Aww one of the best parts of camping was nearly impaling eachother with those poles, such fun"
I took Wren from Ricky and bounced him a bit
" You know I worry about you sometimes Ricky"
Ricky kissed Wren's forehead, then my cheek.
" You should be babe"
He said before throwing the boot and leaning on the door".
"So where are we setting up?"
"I don't mind, wherever you think, Hey Wren"
I nudged Wren, who was day dreaming
"huh?"
"why don't you and Daddy go pick a spot to set and I'll get all our stuff out"
"I wan my bag"
Ricky pulled out Wren's small backpack and dangled it on one finger
"What's the magic word?"
"Peas!"
Wren made grabby hands and I handed him to Ricky.
Wren hugged his back pack close as the two walked into the the woods lining the lake.
I set my mind to managing to carry all the bags in one trip. A large rucksack on my back, another 2 back packs hanging on each of my arm. A cooler in my hands and the tent under my chin.
I heard Ricky call out to me from somewhere in the woods
"David! Over here!"
I followed his voice until I came to a small clearing where Ricky sat on the grass with Wren in his lapWren had taken out his horse stuffie and had it galloping across the grass while Ricky watched, cheering him on.

"This is a nice spot, you guys did a good job"
Ricky looked up and smiled, Wren kept his horse galloping.
"Thank you David, now drop that stuff so we can say up our tent and finally go swimming!"
I put all the stuff on the ground and took the tent our of its fabric bag, throwing the instructions to Ricky who opened them and quickly began instructing me.
"All right you gotta lay it out on the ground first"
"You're not gonna help, I thought putting a tent together was the best but of camping"
"We are doing it together, you dealing with the tenty bit while me and Wren deal the instructions, it's very hard work, right Wren?"
Wren put on a serious face and nodded. "Vewy Hawd"
I couldn't argue with their logic.
After some slight mishaps, the tent was erected. All our bags were placed inside and we got ourselves changed to go swimming.
《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》《》
We all got changed into swim clothes, Papa wore plain black trunks, Daddy had on a pair of really cool looking swim trunks.
Once he'd changed I noticed scars that littered his body, a bit like mine, they seemed faded though and Daddy wasn't bothered by them. Daddy's so brave.
I was changed into a swim diaper and some swim trunks with seals covering them. Unlike Daddy, I wasn't comfortable showing my scars to the open world. I hugged stuffie close, not noticing Daddy pulling something else out of a bag.
"Baby bear, do you wanna wear a shirt as well?"
He showed a t shirt to me, it would cover the worst of it, on my chest.
I nodded and Daddy slipped it on me.
"Yous ready to head down?"
"Sure yeah, come e're baby bear"
Daddy held open his arms and I crawled into them. He picked me up, with a tote bag over his shoulder and the 3 of us headed to the lake.
It was a sunny day and the sand on the small beach around the lake was warm. I played with the sand in my hands as Papa layed down some towels before pulling me into his lap. He pulled out some sunscreen and began to cover me with it. It was cold and uncomfortable, I certainly didn't like it.
"Papa stawp!"
I whined and squirmed in his lap, but Papa didn't relent, rubbing sunscreen on my arms, legs, face, neck, ears. No exposed skin was spared. Papa kissed my nose leaving a blob of sun screen on it. I scrunched up my nose and he chuckled.
Daddy sat down next to us, pulling something out of the bag.
"Wat dat Daddy?"
"They're arm bands baby bear, they're to help you swim"
He passed one to Papa and the both blew them up before sliding them up my arms.
"Come on baby bear, let's go in the water"
Daddy held me tight into his chest as they waded through the water till the water came up just past their waists. I splashed my hands in the water, giggling as I splashed Papa by accident. He spat water out of his mouth and Daddy laughed

"Give me the little monster"
Papa took me from Daddy and slowly started descending into the water. As Papa lowered us, I clung to him tighter.
Daddy reassuringly rubbed my back. Papa and Daddy were almost squatting in the water and I was held between them, my arm bands keep me up but also both of my daddies holding me like I would disappear any second.
"Baby bear, relax"
I started to get tense and anxious as Daddy began laying me back in the water but Daddy kept hold of my head and back, keeping me from sinking,. I watched my feet rise to surface of the water, wiggling my toes and giggling for no real reason. Papa tickled my feet and I started rolling around in Daddy's grasp, him laughing as well.
Being in water with Papa and Daddy was so much fun, it was just us and they even started teaching me to swim.
At one point I was up on Papa shoulders, Daddy stood behind us in case I fell , I felt so tall!
I was having so much fun that I didn't notice the pang in my bladder. I was focused on Papa and Daddy throwing me in the air to eachother. I only noticed how wet my swim diaper was when Papa put me back on his shoulders. I started to cry and both Papa and Daddy immediately zoned in.
"What's wrong bubba? Are you ok"
I just cried more
"Baby bear you gotta use your words"
Papa wiped my eyes with his already wet hand, not doing much. I whispered quietly, surprised slightly when they heard me
"wet"
We all walked back to the beach to change me, I felt so exposed as Papa took off my arm bands and laid me down on the towel. I whined but Daddy shushed me, pushing a pacifier into my mouth. I greatfully sucked, happy for any kind of comfort.
I soon got more comfort than ever as Papa finished changing me and wrapped me in a another towel.
Both Daddy and Papa held me tight as we all lay down in the sun, just resting for a minute as we dried up.
☆<>☆<>☆<>☆<>☆<>☆
We all must have dozed off in the sun, as me and David were awoken by a man standing over us.
"Hey, you guys awake? Wouldn't want you to burn"
He nervously laughed
David groaned as he sat up
"Thanks, this one burns like toast"
He pointed at me and I scoffed, until I realised i was already burned on my shoulders. Wren began to shift and move and around inbetween us. I pulled him into my lap and he snuggled into me.
"Not a problem, you 3 camping here?"
"Yeah we're here for here for the night, I presume you are too?"
"Yeah, were here for another night, arent we jams"
He took a small step to reveal a kid around Wren's age by the looks of it, with a scowl on their face
"This is Jamie, or just Jam, I'm Andrew"
"Well I'm Ricky, this is David and this-"
I brushed Wren's hair out of his face
"is Wren"
Wren finally opened his eyes, after hearing his name, and prominently squeaked before turning and hiding in my chest, noticing the two in front of us.
I chuckled, rubbing his back.
"He doesn't really like new people"
Andrew chuckled too, ruffling jam's hair.
"Neither does this one, ay jams?"
Jam whined, smashing their face into their Dad's leg.
"We're having a campfire later by the way, you're welcome to join us"
I smiled widely, David smiled to hut I recognised it as a pretty fake one.
"We'd love to!"
"Cool, it's just at fire pit, around 7
"Perfect, well see you then"
"We better head on-"
Andrew held his hand out to Jam
"Come on Jam"
Jam begrudgingly took his hand and the two set off down the beach, as soon as they were out of earshot David turned to me.
"Ricky why did you say yes??"
"Oh hush David, they were nice, plus they're gonna have the fire pit tonight and I wanna have some campfire food"
"Fine but if they're weird it's your fault"
"Don't worry, we like weird, right Wren"
Wren looked up at me with his big eyes, sucking his pacifier and nodded.
"That's mo boy"
David laughed and kissed me lightly before pulling Wren into a standing position, holding him up of course cause Wren's legs were very weak.
"Bubba do you wanna go back to the tent or stay on the beach?"
Wren thought for second
"Tent"
I'm glad Wren chose to go back to the tent, I was already slightly burnt and it was getting colder as the sun was beginning to set.
We returned to the tent and got it fully set up, so we wouldn't have to do that later when we were tired.
The mattress was inflated and our sleeping bags plus various pillows and blankets were strewn about. David said we were more glamping then camping but I didn't see him complaining.
Fairy lights were hung across the top of the tent and we were set.
Wren happily played with his stuffie under all the blankets while me and David relaxed, occasionally listening in on Wren's game. He had himself a real blanketsburg.
Time flew by and soon enough we were changing Wren into a dry diaper and some pyjamas with an oversized fleece in case he got cold for the campfire. Me and David both changed into pyjamas bottoms and hoodies to make getting to bed a bit easier.
Wren brought his blankie with him, hugging it tight and using it to hide the pacifier he was loudly and obviously sucking on, as David carried him.
I carried out food, including hot dogs, buns, marshmallows, chocolate and biscuits. Plus a small baby bowl and a pair of scissors to cut up Wren's food with.
After about 10 minutes of walking we arrived at the fire pit where Andrew and Jam already sat in front of the of a roaring campfire.
"Heys guys, come take a seat!"

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
