《A Trip Home | P. Parker Field Trip》Your Savior has Arrived

The next morning, Peter woke up to the sound of his 7:00 alarm. Out of habit, he reached over without looking to press snooze but his hand was greeted by paper rather than the plastic button. Peter sat up and saw a post it note over his alarm. Hey Peter went down to the labs to help Bruce with the Vision problem - Shuri.
Peter chuckled to himself slightly as he recalled the Vision problem. Bruce had been trying to to take the mind stone out of Vision's head for sometime now so they could keep it in safe keeping. Shuri had the idea of connecting his nerves on a molecular level which will make it easier to detach the stone from his head without killing him. Peter sighed as he got up and ready for school, dreading what they day would bring him.
When Peter got to the campus, he waited outside with the rest of his class. Since the field trip would take most of the day, the students didn't need to attend their classes.
"Hey Penis Parker!" Flash yelled.
Peter turned around from where he was standing with Ned and said in a reluctant tone, "What Flash?"
"Can you introduce me to Black Widow? Since you're an intern there you should be able to contact her right?" Flash replied in a sarcastic tone.
"And why would I do that?"
"To prove you have an internship of course. Or are you just lying like you do most of the time?"
Peter turned back around in anger, disregarding the negative comments shot towards him.
"Don't listen to them. They'll know definitely by the end of the day that you do have an internship," Ned said to him.
"Thanks man. Oh by the way, Shuri is going to come down for part of the tour. T'Challa and her are in town for a suit upgrade."
"That's great! Shuri was really nice when I met her. She's definitely gonna make this trip more enjoyable."
"Who will make this trip more enjoyable?" said a voice from behind the two boys. It was MJ.
"Just Peter's friend from Wakanda. Why?"
"No reason. Wait, how do you know people from Wakanda?"
"Through the internship," Peter replied.
"Interns help with international people? I thought that was a PA's job?"
"Well, let's just say I'm closer to Mr. Stark than the rest of the interns."
MJ gave him a puzzled look, "Okay... Next time, I want some real answers." MJ turned away from Ned and Peter to go find a seat on the bus.
"This is so stupid," Peter said as he and Ned took a seat. "I literally just came from the tower and now we are going back. I don't know why I couldn't have just waited for you guys to show up."
"Because then everyone would know you lived there. It's more believable if you take the bus ride with us," Ned responded.
"Yeah you're right, I wouldn't have mind the extra hour of sleep thought."
" Yeah... So who else is in the tower today?" Ned asked.
"Well my friend Camilla is the intern that works at the front desk so she will be leading the tour. Thor is still off with the Guardians, Shuri is helping Bruce with Vision's head thing I told you about, and I don't really know about the rest of them. They're probably on on the upper floors so let's hope they don't come down to embarrass me."

"Don't come down? I hope they do! This way Flash will have to believe you!"
"Have to believe what?" said Flash from the back of the bus.
Before Peter could stop him, Ned continued, "Believe he works at Avengers Towers and actually knows the Avengers."
"Hahahahah, Penis Parker here couldn't make up a better lie if he tried!" Flash laughed at him before returning to his conversation with one of his friends.
Before they realized, they arrived at Avengers Tower. All the kids filed off the bus and into the main lobby. They stared in amazement at the large room they stood in apart for Ned and Peter who had been there daily.
Camilla approached the group holding a bag of badges, "Hello class, my name is Camilla and I will be your tour guide today." She eyed Peter signaling a hello which he returned. He was thankful that she didn't embarrass him in front of his class like he thought she was going to do. "Here is a bag of level one badges for all of you. After lunch we will give you time to go off by yourself and explore the first few floors."
Camilla handed everyone a pass except for Peter because he already had his own; level 10, the highest level.
"Why didn't Penis Parker over there get a pass? Is he not allowed to come on the tour?" Flash asked Camilla in hope to showcase his lie.
"Actually Peter," Camilla said correcting Flash, "Has his own badge.."
Flash look over at Peter who pulled his badge out of his pocket. Flash was furious and turned back to swipe his badge into the machine letting him through the doors. As Flash swiped his badge, FRIDAY said allowed Level One. Peter instantly began to sweat. His badge would say level ten and there had to be at least one person in the class who would ask what it meant and he had a feeling who. Peter swiped his card and made his way through the door when FRIDAY said, Level Ten.
"What does level ten mean?" MJ asked Camilla. Peter sighed, of course she would ask. MJ had always been curious about these types of things.
Camilla looked towards Peter who gave her a disappointing look that meant yeah tell them, "Level Ten is the highest level in the building, reserved for Mr. Stark's close family and the Avengers along with anyone else Mr. Stark deems important."
MJ looked towards Peter very skeptically. Some process was going through her head and Peter couldn't understand what it was.
"Level Ten? Parker has to have the wrong badge," Flash asked.
"No, his badge is right..."
The class continued through the doors as Camilla explained where they were going, "Our first stop is the intern labs. These are used for the local college students that need credit for their courses."
"So Parker, which one is yours?" Flash asked him.
"Actually mine is on floor 77 next to Bruce's- I mean Dr. Banner's."
"Why do you get a higher floor? You're probably worse than the rest of these college interns and need help from the real experts."
Just then the communication system in the labs lit up and Camilla walked over and pressed accept, "Hello this is Camilla with the high school tour."
"Hey Camilla it's Bucky. You said you were with the high school tour. Peter's a part of that right?" said Bucky though the coms.

Camilla looked back towards the group and reluctantly said, "uh-Yes he is Mr.Barnes, may I ask why?" She was one of Peter's real friends at the tower and probably the only person who didn't want to embarrass him.
"Can you send him up for a second my arm is malfunctioning again."
"Again?" Peter said walking up to the system, "I just fixed it like last week."
"Well it's not budging again. I think Rocket may have put a decoy on while I was sleeping when they came down to get Thor. I've knocked my bedside lamp over three times already today."
There were a murmur of chuckles as he Peter turned to his friend. "Camilla, can I go up for a minute?" he asked quickly.
"Yeah its fine. You know where to go."
Flash was quick to join the conversation once more, "Was that the Winter Solider?"
"Yes.." said Peter, hoping another insult wouldn't follow.
"How does he know you?"
"Like I said a million times, I intern here."
Peter began to make his way back towards the lab doors when Flash said, "We'll if you're going to do," he put up air quotes, "lab work on the Winter Soldier who you most likely don't know, I think the class should see you in action." The rest of the class joined in, agreeing with Flash.
Camilla turned back to the communication system, "Mr. Barnes can I send up his class up as well?"
"Yeah sure, the more the merrier."
With that, the class made their way to the elevator and everyone filed in. There was a moment a silence when Camilla didn't reach for the elevator button.
"Aren't you going to press the button?" MJ asked Camilla.
"I can't I only have level three access."
"Oh right," Peter realized as he swiped his badge and pressed level 77.
When they reached his lab, he told everyone to wait outside. Peter rushed in to fix up the place because his suits were laying out on the table and there were mannequins sprawled across the floor from when he was testing his upgrades.
"Karen, hide my suits and any other confidential information."
"Will do," Karen said over the speakers.
When Peter went back outside, he saw Bucky talking to his class while they were waiting for him.
Bucky had shown up, answering Flash's questions about Peter's internship. "Yeah he does work here and yes he is my friend. How many times do I have to say it? Helped even helped me crawl through the vents to scare Sam." He gave a slight chuckle. "Though Peter's foot got stuck and- " he continued before Peter interrupted him, not wanting Bucky to tell the embarrassing story of when he was stuck on the wall of the broken vent for an hour.
"I'm ready guys," Peter said, making everyone rush inside.
"Peter! There you are!" Bucky said patting him on the back.
They all filed into Peter's lab and Bucky planted himself on a nearby table. "I genuinely think the Rocket stole my arm. I am going to kill him when they get back at lunch!"
"They get back at lunch? I thought they don't get back until Sunday?"
"Yeah well Quill's friend. You know, the one with the weird whistle thing? He stepped in to help out."
"Wow, okay. That means I have to finish Mantis's gloves, to help control her powers. She accidentally put Wanda to sleep the other day."
"Who's Rocket, and Quill? What about Mantis? Isn't that like a bug or something?" A girl named Cindy questioned Peter and Bucky.
"They are the Guardians of the Galaxy. They fly around and help people out in space. You know, on other planets and solar systems," Bucky answered.
The class looked impressed that Peter knew all these amazing, heroic people.
"Yeah this is definitely a decoy," Peter said.
"That son of a bi-" Bucky stopped himself, remembering the other children in the room, "Biscuit."
They all laughed before Shuri came through the door, "Did I miss something?"
Ned spoke first, "Hey Shuri."
"Ned! I haven't seen you in forever! How are you?"
"Pretty good, you?"
"Amazing," She looked over at Peter, "Your savor has arrived."
"Har har har," Peter responded, "Bucky I have a duplicate of your arm in one of my cabinets give me a sec."
"Who are you?" MJ asked because she didn't know Peter had other friends that were girls besides her, not that she would call herself Peter's friend. She didn't see Shuri as a threat though cause why would she? She's not into Peter.
"My name is Shuri. I am in town with my brother while he's getting upgrades on his suits."
"Who's your brother?" another kid from the class asked.
"King T'Challa of Wakanda."
"Okay very funny Parker who actually is this," Flash jumped in, still trying to deny Peter's story.
"What do you mean?" Shuri asked.
"I mean who are you. Penis Parker over here doesn't know a King and his sister. You are obviously an actress so who are you really?"
"I am not lying. I am Shuri and I am the sister of the King, Princess of Wakanda."
"Wait," MJ chimed in, "You said your brother is here for suit upgrades? Which super hero is your brother?"
"He is quite new in the public eye, you guys might know him as Black Panther."
"Black Panther is your brother?!" Flash yelped.
"Yep."
"Here it is," said Peter as he walked back to Bucky with another arm. He moved over to Bucky placing where his arm should be. A couple of screws near the top and the arm was in place.
"Thanks Peter. I'll be in the training room if you need me."
"Training? With who?" Ned asked.
"Well Steve, Clint and Natasha are in there but I'm gonna go warm up this new arm in one of the private rooms."
"Camilla can we go watch them train?" Flash turned his attention towards Peter," You may know one Avenger but that doesn't mean you know them all."
"Well, we are already off the tour guidelines so what the hell," Camilla said.
Shuri turned her attention to Peter, "I'm gonna go back to helping Bruce with the Vision situation. We almost finished reconnecting his nerves and I have to work on the stone replica so he will still have his powers, minus the whole infinity stone thing."
"Okay I'll see you later. Hey maybe we can finish the rest of season. We just got to the good part!"
"Definitely."

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
