《His Angel》Chapter 20

Hopefully, this wouldn't backfire. Enzo looked upset that I wanted to leave. But, he didn't want me to feel trapped. I could see the conflict written all over his face. His eyebrows were pulled together with a worried look, and his whole body was tense.

"Please just drop me off there."

"Angel, you know what I do for a living?"

I nodded, not knowing where he was going with this.

"So, then you should realize I can always tell when people are lying to me," he raised an eyebrow, waiting for me to fess up.

I played dumb instead.

"If I find out you're lying to me," he pulled my body flush against him. His hands gripped my ass in a bruising hold. "Then I will have to punish you," he murmured, almost absent-mindedly. It made the threat all the more terrifying. I nodded at him, afraid my voice would reveal the lies I was hiding.

He stared at me for a moment and shook his head, slightly disappointed. He knew I was hiding something. But, maybe he'd never figure out that I was about to flee to Puerto Rico for two weeks.

As soon as he dropped me off at Sampson's old apartment I refused for him to walk me up with the lame excuse that Samson was afraid of him. That wasn't even true but it worked. He eyed me warily but relented. When I got up to the hallway in the building, I took out my phone and booked the soonest flight to PR. There was one for midnight tonight.

I purchased it without blinking twice and checked my bag for all my travel needs. Luckily, everything was already in there. I exhaled and leaned on the wall, before sliding down to the floor on my bum. I sighed and closed my eyes. The flight was cheap, thankfully.

I checked my bank account and almost choked on my own saliva when I read the amount in it. Oh my god.

There was $50,000 in my account. I stared at it for several seconds, waiting for some of the Zeros to disappear. I called a cab after a few hours, just in case Enzo was waiting around to see if I stayed.

The ride to the airport was long and full of guilt. I didn't like that I was lying to Enzo. Even if he never found out it still felt bad. I decided I would text him as soon as we landed in PR, that way he wouldn't be able to stop me and I'd have a few hour's heads start in case he came after me. I would tell him the truth and pray he wouldn't come to kidnap me for lying to him.

I went through security quickly since I only had my duffle bag. I decided I would just buy clothes when I arrived. Especially since I packed a bunch of clothes for fall and winter when it was still warm over there. I'd figure it out when I got there.

For now, I had to worry about the plane ride there which I was terrified about. I hated planes with a passion. They were one of my bigger fears. I put my headphones in and closed my eyes, waiting in the terminal for the crew to announce when we would be boarding.

An employee tapped my shoulder, waking me up. Shit! I fell asleep. My nerves were probably catching up with me. My body did feel exhausted.

I looked up at them and pulled my headphones out of my ears.

"Hi, miss. Your flight is ready to be boarded."

"Thank you," I god up and followed her to the desk and she looked at my ticket.

There were a few people still sitting in the terminal. Getting up and coming to the desk behind me in line for boarding. So, thankfully I wasn't the last person boarding.

She smiled at me and handed me my passport and opened the rope to let me through.

"Have a nice trip!"

"Thank you!" I smiled back.

I walked onto the plane, finding my row and seat number. I sat down and got comfortable. My hands were shaking with nerves from flying, or maybe it was from guilt about Enzo.

Everyone settled in as the flight attendants made their rounds helping everyone with bags and seating. One of them stopped in front of me. She was pretty, with blue eyes and black hair. I looked up at her and she smiled.

"Is this all of your luggage?" she asked politely.

I nodded.

"Okay, perfect. You have been selected to be upgraded to first class."

"What?" I was shocked.

"Don't worry it is all free. Plus it's a better experience for you, much more relaxing. I can tell you don't like flying," she spoke quietly.

"Oh, okay. Thank you. I guess I'm just lucky today." I laughed a little.

"Yup!" She smiled, putting her finger to her lips. I understood what she was saying. If everyone heard that I was selected to be upgraded for free, they'd all complain. I nodded and she picked up my duffle bag, leading me to the first-class section.

"Wow this is nice," I accidentally spoke out loud. A blush went to my cheeks.

"Yes, girl! Here is your seat. Get comfortable. Everything is complimentary here. Drinks. Food. Blankets. Whatever you want. So, take advantage of it," she winked at me.

"Thank you, this is so amazing."

"You're welcome! We'll be getting ready for take-off in about ten to fifteen minutes. So, get settled and make sure to have your seatbelt on for takeoff," she said before walking away.

I nodded and put my headphones on.

I nodded my head. I never sat in first class before. Well, I have only flown once before this. So, that wasn't surprising. I laid my seat back and closed the frosted sliding glass door. Giving myself some privacy.

I closed my eyes trying to fall asleep before the flight took off. That was the worst part, and I wanted to sleep through it. Actually, I wanted to sleep through the whole flight.

My body was on the same page as my brain, and I fell asleep quickly before the flight took off.

I stirred when I felt someone tracing patterns on my wrist.
