《More Than You Realize》Chapter 15: His Inner Darkness... It's Still There

Slade was in shock. That was easy to see. I took the chance to run away with my friends... and the other two.
"Okay, listen. Ty has backup guards heading this way. I don't know what damage you all did," I said while leading the group through the maze of hallways.
"Well... we didn't do much! We just took out some guards!" Mary exclaimed. She sounded like she was panicking. Alex sighed.
"And Ty's mad over that. Who wouldn't be?" Alex said.
"Please don't start a fight here. Can't it wait?" Rainbow Steve groaned.
"Fine, but don't think this is over," Alex said with a slight growl. Mary rolled her eyes.
"Watch out!" Galaxy Steve exclaimed before he fired some lightning. I looked up to face many guards. I smirked.
"Hope you like flying!" I exclaimed before shoving a bunch of wind at them. They all yelled in shock as they were tossed into the air. Each one landed with a loud thud. So much joy went through me.
Void Steve exclaimed as he flew beside us.
"Wait... we can't teleport in here?" I asked while listening to the loud running between five of us.
Void Steve explained. I nodded.
'Watch out, Sabre.'
Finally, we found the exit. This place could pass as a maze. It's so huge, and many twist and turns.
Void Steve asked. We all stopped running and, quickly, nodded our heads. Many guards, and even Ty and Slade, caught up to us. Ty growled, but didn't come any closer as he hovered above the guards. Slade stood off to the side, looking very upset.
Before the guards reached us, I was blinded by a bright white light. I blinked away the spots in my vision so I could see clearly. We were back at the house we made before I was taken yet again.
"Where are we?" Alex asked waving his staff at our house.
"This is the house we built before I was taken. Well, technically, Rainbow Steve and Galaxy Steve built it. Void Steve and I were off training with my powers," I said opening the door.
"Oh, yeah! What kind of powers do you have?" Mary asked curiously. I laughed some and closed the door after everyone had entered.
"Well, it's like elemental powers. I can control fire, electricity, water, air, ground/rock, and the mind," I explained sitting down in a chair.
"So... you mean like psychic abilities?" Mary asked blobbing her showing eyes. I nodded my head in agreement.
"Woah. That's a lot for just one person," Alex said. I'm pretty sure there was some jealousy in his tone.
'They hate you.'
"Yeah... but I manage to control it pretty well," I said proudly. No one spoke. "What? Did I say something wrong?"
Void Steve trailed. I raised an eyebrow.
"You don't have complete control. I mean, when we were training just a few minutes before you were kidnapped, we told you to use the anger and work with your fire ability. You ended up flying around while using your air powers. Not to say it was amazing, but... control is key. That was just something that happened," Galaxy Steve finished. I didn't say anything for a moment.

"Wow..." I said dully. "I feel like I'm being bullied."
Everyone began to laugh. I would've joined in, but I wasn't lying. I felt like they were bullying me.
'KiLl ThEm! YoU HaVe ThE StReNgTh To Do So, SaBrE!'
"Come on, Sabre. Truth is truth. Besides, it's a step to help you realize that there's more to abilities than being able to use them. Control is a major part in it as well," Alex said. He waved his staff around, letting magical particles fly around where he waved. "Heck, if I just used my magic without control, we would be in a world of trouble."
"Look at it this way, though. You have Galaxy Steve, Void Steve, and Alex who has magical abilities. They are all willing to help," Mary said with a smile. Alex glared at her.
"When did I say that?" he asked.
"Just now! I would hate to go home and tell them you don't do everything you're suppose to do as a power user," Mary said with a smirk. Alex blinked.
"YEP! I'm willing to help!" he exclaimed quickly afterwards. Everyone laughed.
"How about tomorrow, though. It's late, and it's been a long day. I'm tired," Galaxy Steve proposed with a small yawn at the end.
"gred," we all said together.
"By the way, we fixed the broken window in your room, Sabre. Then, we reinforced it," Rainbow Steve said before I went off to my room. I nodded.
"I'll see you guys in the morning," I said before entering my room. Many "okay"s followed me into the room as the door closed.
I flopped down on my bed, and it took no time at all for me to fall asleep.
"Come on, Sabre! This is your chance. Strike them down!"
Shut up. Get out of my head, Tyler!
"You're a disappointment, Sabre Favre. Don't fight me... you will have no choice but to fall into my clutches."
No... there's always a way out. I'm not going to fall so easily to the likes of you. You've been annoying me all day, so STOP!
"Hmm... you're braver than I thought. Very well, there are always alternative methods."
How come you villains always have "alternative methods" to do something? No! I don't want to hear them! I don't believe a word you say!
"Come on, Sabre. We can work together. Me... you... Slade, we can all work together."
No. How many times do I have to say no before you understand me?
'Say it all you want, but I'll keep saying the same thing. I told you I have alternative methods.'
Shut it! I'm sick of hearing your annoying voice in my head! I've ignored you all day, don't you think that's enough!
Suddenly, I was... well, somewhere. I didn't really know where I was. It was a white room, but it was also somewhat gray. I looked around, hoping to find something to help, maybe, explain where I am.

'Come on, Sabre. Don't fight.'
I looked around for Ty, but I was only met with... ME?! I flinched a little, then checked to see if I was losing myself. Suddenly, he-I-he, oh God this is confusing, smirked at me.
He looked like me, except his white shirt was red, my green jacket was black, and his eyes were pure red. The bandana he would've had one was tied around his wrist.
"I'd rather die than be one with you," I growled. He grabbed my shoulders and dig his fingers into my skin. I think he has claws because it dug deep.
"L-leave me alone! I will never, willingly, be a part of you. Just stay away from me!" I yelled. The pain on my shoulders began to lighten. I raised an eyebrow and looked down to my shoulders. My breathing came to a halt, but my struggling began.
He was actually absorbing my body! My green jacket was turning black, and it was like he was attached on me.
"N-no!" I yelled. I wasn't able to move away. I was stuck.
"Well, I DON'T want you to control me! Get off of me!" I yelled as I tried to pull away from the black goo. It had already covered well over half of my body. It stopped at my neck, but it kept spreading down to my feet. It was about to reach my knees.
He began to disappear, but it was into my body. He was legit absorbing me. The black goo began to change color in certain places. It was outlining my normal clothes.
"NO! GET AWAY!" I yelled desperately. However, nothing worked.
The goo finished covering my lower half, and the part that stopped at me neck began to make its way up. I don't know what's worse. Dealing with Ty and Slade, or this.
I was completely absorbed by this darkness inside of me.
I felt weird. I don't know how to explain it, but something felt wrong.
"Hey, Galaxy Steve? You okay?" Rainbow Steve asked. I sighed a little.
"Not really. I might just be going crazy, but is Sabre... different?" I questioned. He flinched a little, and I know I offended him.
"HOW COULD YOY SAY THAT?!" he yelled. I pretty sure everyone woke up due to that. I didn't express any emotion because I was still lost in my question.
"You can't tell me you don't feel anything's off. You do realize he kept smirking every time he injured someone, right?" I pointed out while raising an eyebrow. His eyes almost disappeared as he realized I was right.
Void Steve said with a slight yawn at the end. He looked at him, then stared in confusion.
"What's up, Steves?" Mary asked. She sounded like she was never asleep. "What's wrong with Rainbow Steve?"
"Y-you're r-right... B-but what could th-that mean?" Rainbow Steve stuttered. I shrugged my shoulders.
"What are you guys talking about?" Alex asked leaning of Mary's shoulder. She growled and walked away; allowing him to fall to the ground. "Really, Mary?"
She chuckled a little. She gave him a thumbs up. I guess that's some sort of weird sibling thing.
Void Steve asked while crossing his arms.
"Sabre was acting weird as we left Tyler's palace. He smirked when anyone was injuries. This is my little theory. The Sabre we have isn't the one we know. I think some of the darkness that was used to control him is still inside of him," I said.
"How could you think that..." a hurtful voice came from the hallway. We all looked over to the voice, and I instantly felt bad. "You really think I'm evil! How could you think that, Galaxy Steve!"
"Sabre, hear me out-" Sabre wouldn't let me finish.
"NO! I can't believe you could think that. What's worse, I thought you were one of my best friends. I'm hurt, Galaxy Steve," Sabre said before running off to his room.
Rainbow Steve, Void Steve, Mary, and Alex looked back to me with sympathetic looks, then walked off themselves.
"I can't believe I almost believed what you had to say. That's cruel, Galaxy Steve," Rainbow Steve said angrily. I felt my heart stop. A pit formed in my stomach.
Void Steve said before entering his room.
Alex and Mary sent, what I assumed, glares my way. Rainbow Steve slammed his door behind him, then Alex and Mary entered their respected rooms.
I felt really bad. I made Sabre upset, and all of my friends are mad at me. I felt some tears slip down my cheeks.
Suddenly, I felt a hand in my shoulder. I looked up to see Sabre giving me a sad smile. I felt more tears slip out.
"I'm sorry," I said sadly. He didn't say anything at first, and I figured he was still upset. Then, what shocked me the most, he smirked evilly at me.
a demonic voice spoke. It didn't sound like Sabre, but his statement made me realize I was right.
Before I could say anything else, fire surrounded me. I couldn't call for help. It was like he restricted me.
he said with a smirk. I felt myself being absorbed. My mind was racing. I hope the others figure out the truth soon.

It Started with Slime
Before we jump in, let me say that the MC starts stupid, so the language and writing style is straightforward to reflect this. The writing improves with the MC and as the chapters progress (I hope). It is also a gradual growth story, so no zero to hero in ten seconds... with that out of the way: An alchemical experiment has gone wrong and results in a Slime Monster. It doesn't have a name at first and is something that it will need to work out! This story follows a Slime that starts as a Micro Slime with some level of consciousness, and there is more to it than meets the eye. Survival is the name of the game. To improve, it works hard to grow, evolve and become more powerful to survive its harsh new reality. There is a lot more going, and only time will tell if this Slime (all its various versions) can become strong enough to make it through the strife to the other side. It's a harsh world, after all. It Started with Slime is a story with a Monster Protagonist Evolution story. There will be no profanity and no sexual content, and there will be some violence and fighting descriptions. I am a native English speaker, and so the English here should be to a good standard. That said, even though editing, there may be some corrections and typos, so if you see some, let me know! If it bothers you a lot, I am working to make sure all chapters have no typos, but of course, some might slip through. I will endeavour to correct any picked up, though! Also, I started this a few months ago and so any feedback is always appreciated, also reviews and ratings! If you like or don't like the story, let me know in the detailed reviews! That always helps me see what is good and what needs improving. Working on releasing chapters twice a week, I will try to increase that as time goes, but at the moment, that is what I can release. Patreon has more. If the story gets more popular, then I will increase the releases. I am aiming ultimately for a chapter a day if I can get to that. Chapters are roughly 1500 words, with Interludes every five chapters being more or less than that! Enjoy! Edit: Book 1 finished on Patreon, and the format for Book 2 is slightly different with Interludes every three chapters, and the release schedule will be three chapters a week. Cover by: Faren Discord: https://discord.gg/eDuZaEAAqG This story is published and available on Royalroad, Webnovel, ScribbleHub, Wattpad, and extra chapters on Patreon!
