《Silver》27

Ethan's POV

Silver fell asleep in my arms and I couldn't help but feel pure contentment. Although there was a lunatic on the loose set out to destroy our family I couldn't have felt more at home.

Our family. I thought to myself looking down at her angelic face.

"Daddy!" I heard Aiddan cry out.

Gently I set Silver against the pillows as I slipped out of the bed. Hurriedly I make my way to Aiddan's room. Looking around I made sure nobody was hurting him. As soon as my eyes landed on his small frame standing by his bed I relaxed.

"What is it, Little Man?" I asked softly, squatting down to his level to look at his shy face.

"I-I had an accident." he whispered ashamedly.

Looking at his bed I see that there is a small area of the sheets that were wet. Picking him up I grabbed the edges of the sheets and wrapped them up into a ball. "That's alright. We will just go set them in the washer and you can sleep with mommy and me tonight."

Grinning, he hugged me around my neck. "Thank you!"

"Not a problem." I laugh as I walk us to the laundry room so I could throw the sheets in the washing machine.

As soon as I had done that we made our way to my bedroom. Setting him down by Silver I sat myself on the outside of them. Aiddan curled up against his mother's stomach and she unconsciously pulled him against her chest in an orderly manner. Smiling, I turned out the lights and got into bed behind Silver and drew them both tightly against me.

This is how life should be. Whoever says that fatherhood and having a family is a burden is sorely mistaken. This. This right here is the best thing to happen to me.

With that thought I feel asleep to the sounds of their breathing.

Unknown (G.V.) POV

So, they thought extra security would save them?

A background check?

What am I? An amateur? I know how to pass through people's lives undetected. Call it a skill of mine, a talent.

Laughing I started to type out another letter for my sweet Silver. I was starting to enjoy this game of cat and mouse. Maybe I wouldn't kill them off right away. It was a pleasure to watch Ethan as he struggles to stop me from taking his family away.

As I finished the letter I proofread it to make sure I didn't give my identity away. Sometimes I get carried away with my writings and tell too much about myself. Which also means I tend to have to rewrite my letters. As I made sure there wasn't anything to give me away I pressed the send button on my laptop.

"Sir, would you like to order yet?" A young waitress asked as she looked at me blushing.

Flashing her a brilliant smile I winked at her. "Yeah. You're number."

If I couldn't have Silver now then I might as well have some fun for a while, right?

Laughing, the foolish girl wrote her number down on a napkin and handed it to me. Before she left I ordered a coffee to go. As she went to prepare it I sat back and thought about what I needed to do next.

Hmm? What should I do about that pesky brother of hers? I asked myself.

Smiling to myself I gazed out the window. I mean, freak accidents happen all the time. Especially in New York. Big cities. Big accidents. Maybe a failed robbery that just happens to kill him.
