Silver's POV

"Are you the family of Aiddan McMalorey?"

"Yes." I responded immediately. Walking over towards the doctor I feel dread consume me.

"Do you want the good news or the bad news first?" he asked looking sad.

"Good." Everyone said at the same time as the tension builds up in tangible fear.

"Well, The good news is that your son is alright. He has a few minor bruises and a few cuts. The main part is his ribs. There are hairline fractures. Other than that your son has no physical damage caused by the impact of the car." He explained as he smiled slightly. "Your son is a very strong little boy Mrs. McMalorey."

Ignoring him calling me Mrs. Instead of Miss I focus on the news he was saying. Oh thank God he is alright. I felt like weight was being released off my shoulders. That was until he began saying the bad news.

"The bad news is that he has Lung Cancer." the doctor said, looking sad as he watched us.

"What?" I asked numbly not quite processing his words.

"Your son has Lung Cancer. Now it's only in the first stage so as long as we start treating him right away he will be perfectly fine. But if you let it progress without medical attention then he might only live to about maybe to when he turns ten. If he is lucky." he elaborated in a monotone voice as he grimaced at the words coming from his mouth.

As I processed the words I started to break down. How could my baby have cancer? Why? This wasn't fair! He was only three. Why did he have to face so much pain? He was only my little baby. I don't know what I would do without him. Ever since he was born he had been my whole world. If I could go back to that night and change anything I wouldn't. I wouldn't trade anything in the world for my baby. If I could take this pain and have the Cancer instead of him I would. What can I do to help him?

My thoughts were yanked back to reality as I fell to the floor in tars. Except I never hit the ground. Ethan caught me before I did. Turning in his embrace I cried into his shoulder.

"He's only three." I whispered brokenly watching through blurry eyes as the doctor put some paper in Ashton's hands before leaving the room quietly.

Ethan's POV

"He's only three." Silver whimpered into my shoulder as she silently cried.

I couldn't believe the news. Not only what she had just told me but also that her son had cancer. Lung Cancer. The same cancer that took my father. Why did this always happen to people in my life? It never fails. First my dad and now Silver's son. Why?

Holding her close I silently supported and comforted her as she sobbed.
