finally found you, school mystery no. 1–" Hanako said, the chandelier that was about to fall on Aoi was now frozen in the air, unable to fall– "the clock keeper."
"The chandelier…" Yashiro said as she rested her hand on her chin, "it's stuck in midair…?"
You then looked back and saw that Kou was stuck in the same place too, a clock hovering above his head. Why weren't you stuck too? Meh, not like you really care… but something felt.. off.
You then looked back at Akane, who was holding Aoi in bridal style, and tilted your head to the side: Hanako was lying on the ground, Yashiro sitting before him while trying to stop Akane from abusing the poor ghost.
You walked behind Hanako and hit him lightly on the head with your bat, "You could've killed my friend…"
He glanced back at you. You had your brows furrowed, eyes looking back at the chandelier. Then the chandelier fell and crashed down to the floor.
"Ran outta time…" Akane tiched, "darn it…"
You looked away to see Kou falling down the chairs.
"Oww…" you said to yourself before turning your attention back to Hanako and Yashiro, helping them stand up.
"I still can't believe it…"
"You're totally cool, y'know that Aka-kun?!" You exclaimed, looking at him with stars in your eyes.
Kou then began to beat Hanako-kun, "You went too far!"
As Hanako and Kou talked about how Hanako knew that Akane was a school mystery, you were fawning over the first mystery.
Your friend was a badass school mystery! Of course you were gonna be hyped about it.
"Don't call me 'Aka-kun'! We're not friends!" He shouted at you and you fell to the ground, heartbroken.
"But… I thought we had something!" You dramatically held your chest, sitting on the ground and crying like a baby, "Did that night.. that special night–"

"What are you talking about?!"
"Meh, you're boring anyways." You changed your mood as fast as you stood up. Akane's heart skipped a beat; boring? You thought that he was boring?
"And mean." You added making your way out of the nursery.
An invisible arrow shot through his heart, the words mean and boring written on it. He saw you exit the door, closing it behind you.
"Damn…" Kou said, "I've never seen Y/N do that before…"
"Yeah, it's kinda scary…" Yahiro agreed.
Hanako then added, "You must be in trouble."
"WHAT?!"
*
You were walking around the school halls (that were filled with old people, caused by Mirai) until you heard something.
"Don't underestimate me, school mystery…" Kou said, and you opened the door that was in-between you and your friends, and Akane (you were still mad at him).
"You got me last time…" Kou held one of Mirais pigtails, "but now I know all your trick–"
Mirai jumped up, used her power and summon a clock over Kou's head, making a small mist spread around him with a proof sound.
"What the– Kou are you alright?!" You ran up to the said male, worried if he's turned old. Mirai then disappeared, saying something about making You handsome.
Kou held his face as Yashiro came to sit by your side, "Are you okay…"
"Dammit. she got away…" He said as he moved his hand away from his face. He was not old, no, but older. "The little pipsqueak!"
All four of you stopped what you were doing. Alane then spoke up after Yashiro and Hanako had calmed down from their shock, "Wow… he looks just like the student council president…" he dead panned.
You stared blankly at him while Kou exclaimed:
"What?! What happened to me!!!?"

"Must be that exorcist blood…" Hanko floated towards You, "Makes it harder for you to be affected by the supernatural."
Yashiro backed away from Kou, "w–whu?" She then sprinted out of the door, "WAIT FOR ME!! COME BACK AND TURN ME INTO A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN WITH SEXY LEGS, OVERFLOWING WITH ADULT CHARM!!"
"YEAH!" You shouted swinging Betty over your shoulder, running after Yashiro, "I WANNA SEE WHAT I LOOK LIKE WHEN I'M OLDER!!"
"Y/N, YASHIRO!!!"
"We couldn't find her…" YASHIRO said defeatedly while laying on the ground.
"You really don't have to chase her that hard…" Hanako poked his head over Yashiro's shoulder.
You were sitting beside her, totally defeated and tired, "I really wanted to see what I'd looked like…"
"Besides, Mirais only power is to move time forward." Akane said while looking down at Yashiro, holding his knees as he stood leaned over, "She can't change your body type or face."
An arrow hit Yashiro as those words left Akane's mouth. Kou then sat down beside her, "Senpai…" Yashiro looked up at him, before he began to speak again, a small smile on his face, "...your cute enough just the way you are!!"
Sparkles flew around his figure as he said that, making him even more attractive. Your heart skipped a beat.
Yashiro then ran and hid behind Hanako, "I'm sorry… don't get close to me…"
"Hey, Hanako!" Kou called out to him. The ghost looked at him, but all he could see was Teru (who had previously beat him up) and he hid behind Akane while saying, "I'm sorry. Don't get close to me."
"WHA–?!" Kou then looked back at you. You were still sitting on the floor, but after you heard Kou's pleads, you stood up. You held your chest as you looked at him, you felt like you were gonna have a heart attack.
"Y/N?!" Kou looked at you with hope in his eyes, but then you skurried to stand behind Akane, a blush evident on your face.
"Please don't get close to me…"
"WHAT–?!!"
"I'll make this girl look hotter!" Mirai jumped towards Yashiro.
Yashiro closed her eyes, ready to be turned into an old lady, "Huh?"
You stood in front of her, your arms stretched out in a protective manner. Mirai touched you and… nothing happened.
"What?" You muttered looking down at yourself. Then, when you looked up again, all of your friends looked at you like you were some kind of monster.
A dark mist was spreading around you, screams were heard from it as you backed away; but, as you were about to do so, it grabbed your hand.

“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.

The world plays like a game, the nights bring zombies and flying demon eyes, the lands are being corrupted by living flesh, and the old man standing in front of a mysterious dungeon seems to be under some sort of curse. The three of them will need to learn how to work together, build up a village for the astray citizens that keep showing up on their doorstep, and gear up in order to take on the challenges of the world and become the Guardians of Terraria.Enjoying the story? Want to talk about it? Join my discord here!https://discord.gg/EWghT6Aa5R- Terraria is an awesome game developed by Re-Logic. I highly recommend checking it out if you have not heard of it before.- The story's cover and chapter banners are constructed from in-game screenshots with some image editing.- This is a fanfic based on the progression of the game and the official Terraria lore. The citizen characters are based on the NPCs, while the player characters are wholly my own creation.
