《Teacher Appreciation: My Story》Who am I?

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."- ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:27‬‬

Welcome to this book! I am a woman named Lillian, but I go by Lilly. I was born on September 18, 2002, and live in southeast Louisiana.

My whole life, I've struggled pretty severely with autism, and it hasn't made my life easy at all. I'm still heavily dependent on my family because of it and can't do a lot of things because of it. Learning and socializing are difficult for me, and I have issues with my motor skills. It affects me in many ways that make my life very difficult, but I know that this disability does not define me. First of all, and second of all, I try to remember when things do get hard that my life on earth is not forever. Someday, I will pass away to be back with my Father, so although it's not easy being mentally handicapped while I'm spending my time on earth, my handicap is not forever.

Another thing about me is that I am a former Catholic. I'm writing another book here about why I left Catholicism, but my mom is Catholic, and my dad is a born-again Protestant, just like me. However, I am not religious, nor do I subscribe to any religions or denominations of Christianity, even though I am a reborn Christian. The reason why I left Catholicism in the first place was actually that I wanted a relationship with God over a religion.

I am the middle sister of two other sisters. My older sister is 29 and turning 30, and my younger sister just turned 15. The reason for the weird age gaps is mainly because none of us have the same parents. My older sister is the result of my mother's first marriage, and my younger sister is actually my cousin, but we have always called each other sisters instead of cousins. My aunt and grandparents raised me instead of my parents when I was little, which is why we're so close.

Another thing about me is that I am obsessed with unicorns! There isn't any particular reason why. It's just pretty common for people with autism, like me, to have a special favorite thing and mine is unicorns.

This is a little about me, and this is my testimony. I hope it inspires you!
