Last chapter: "You ready?" Mom asked excitedly. Her brown eyes shined but the smile on her olive hued face showed her sadness.
"As I'll ever be" I said sadly as she started up the van and began the long drive to Washington.
Y/n POV
Nine hundred and forty two miles.
seventeen - agonizingly long - hours, it was now around 9:30pm and we finally made it to the small town of forks. We stopped a few times along the way to grab snacks and fill up on gas but that was about it. Mom and I switched off driving up until we got to the small sign that read 'welcome to forks' in bold green letters.
I reached over to the passenger seat and lightly shook my mom successfully waking her up.
"Mom we're here. I don't know how to get to Billy's though" I said as she blinked a few times starting to register life beyond her sleepy mind.
"I got it." She said as I pulled off the road and swapped seats with her. As we drove we passed a few shops and then all the shops disappeared and were replaced by thick, dark woods. The trees blocking out any source of moonlight, it looked kind of spooky and it felt like we were being watched. I shrugged it off and looked forward. Slowly houses came into view again and as we approached mom turned off the main road down a rough gravel driveway.
"Here we are!" She said enthusiastically through her tired voice. The house that laid in front of us wasn't anything special. Just your average home. There was no fence around it but the trees of the forest seemed to create a barrier as they harshly stood tall agains the lawn. I hopped out of the van and went to wake up Milla who was softly snoring in the back seat.

"Wakey wakey eggs and bakey!" I jokingly said poking her slightly in the arm trying to get her up. She swatted at me.
"Five more minutes." She whined.
"Alright then just sleep in the car." I said slamming the door, waking her up. She groggily joined the land of the living, grabbed her backpack and journeyed inside but not before a quick hug from our uncle who came wheeling outside - most likely hearing the door slam. I saw him point down the hall, probably telling her where the room is before he turned towards me waving.
I grabbed my backpack and walked towards him.
"My, y/n, you've grown into a lovely young woman since I last saw you." He said smiling at me before giving me a welcoming hug.
"Thanks Billy, and thank you for letting us stay here." I said releasing him from the hug.
"Of course, you're family." He said and then went on to tell me my room was down the hall next to my cousin Jacob's, who was out with his friends and wouldn't be back til late but was very excited we're in town. I thanked him again before saying goodnight and heading to my room to get some sleep.

Letters from a Dying World
Times historic are often penned after the fact in the lifeblood of the pitiful, forgotten masses. That roiling, uncountable crush of humanity, they who held the pikes and they who threw down the tyrants. Their veins opened by gazes academic, sharp and cruel, and pecked away at with quills, written out of their own story. The Second Dark Crusade was a time of such poignancy. A time when the light of man waned and flickered, choking in the acrid smoke of its own inadequacy. As befitting of such an age it has been covered more than a capital whore, and so I attempt not to tell that story again. That story of dull, unfeeling analysis. Neither here will you find the browbeating, propagandistic screeds so common in the hands of men, the light of youth still burning behind their eyes. Nay, here I shall attempt to cover fresh ground, not tread on the grave dirt of long dead authors. Here I shall attempt to tell the story of the small lives caught, unbeknownst to them, in the great and torrential downpour that we now call history. Here lies the true story of The Second Crusade. - Loremaster Ip'Qal
