:

Finn has an honourable position; personal servant to the monarch of Cafi, a small country off the coast of France. He also has not-so-honourable a position; a man in love with another man, in the early 1800s. Oliver is being forced towards marriage, and Finn is being forced towards accepting his love is unrequited. As France begins to fall into another revolution, the world begins unravelling around them. Oliver has to fight to maintain the democracy he established, and Finn must cope with the reawakening of his less-than-ideal past as a con artist in the search for his long-lost brother. The two must learn who to trust and who not to trust as they begin to know each other more deeply than they every thought they could.Content Warnings Applicable to This Story:This book is set in the early 1800s, and I don't want to avoid talking about the horrendous things that happened to people of colour then. It will talk about slavery, but from a firm anti-slavery perspective, never glorifying or making excuses for it. Cafi itself is a fictional country and while I absolutely believe they would have had slave trade too (because most places did and I don't want to pretend they didn't), I want the book to include Oliver's fight to abolish slavery in his country.Otherwise, there may be previous mentions of abuse, but it will be extremely mild, nothing graphic, and the chapter itself will pre-warn you. Oliver's relationship with his family can be problematic at times. Please take care of yourself during any chapters that may be triggering for you.

: Just wow, honestly. I mean, we all know that I'm a sucker for historical fiction and things like this. But I never could've prepared myself for the story behind the cover of "Wings of a Dragonfly". There were times where I thought my smile would split my face in half, and times when I almost drowned in my own tears. I've read this story several different times and it never gets old. You can't help but get sucked into the pages and fall in love with the characters. It's a truly heartwarming story and, for you hopeless romantics such as myself, a happy ending that will satisfy you for days.

It has recently come to my attention that Wings of a Dragon Fly, along with many books by this author, were taken down. HOWEVER.. Wings of a Dragonfly went under a strict revision and is currently being re-uploaded with updates every couple of days. Although I haven't read the updated version yet (bc all y'all know I'm too impatient to wait on even quick updates), I have very high hopes! Based on what I remember from this book it was one of my favorites and I'll be coming back here once I've finished the updated version :)
