《The Little Prince》Lesson

1. Look closer to see the real picture – society is moving so fast that it can be easy to miss the small details that can distinguish a drawing of a hat from a drawing of a boa constrictor.
2. Beware of the Boabab – small things can grow into big things that crack and destroy the world or at the very least they will make life more difficult. Pull them up as soon as you see them and they will never be able to grow to a place where they are out of control.
3. It is more important to judge by deeds than by words – words are temporary and often spoken without thought. Deeds take time and reveal the true heart of the people that do them.
4. Think of someone besides your self – putting others first always makes things better.
5. Perceptions are not reality – just because something appears to be a certain way doesn't mean that it actually is. Dig deeper to find the truth.
6. I am unique in all the world – because of whom and what I love and who and what loves me there is no one else like me.
7. I am responsible for what I tame – building relationships takes time and after the building is complete I am responsible to that relationship. Love brings responsibility.
8. It is not what can be seen that is important – it is the things that are invisible to the physical eye that carry the most value.
9. Things (and people) are beautiful because of what they hide – it is the things that are hidden that make them special. A house with a secret, a desert with a hidden well or a star with a prince that laughs makes them more special than any other in the world

10. There is nothing sad about an abandoned shell – an abandoned shell is just a reminder that the inhabitant has moved on to something bigger and better.
The lessons of The Little Prince have carried me through some of the toughest seasons of my life. I lost several friends when I was in high school and their deaths hurt me in a profound manner. The words set down in The Little Prince gave me a hope that I would otherwise never have discovered. And those same words carried me through some of the toughest seasons of my life.
The other day I rediscovered the Little Prince when my husband and children brought home the movie version. I realized that I missed the Little Prince and I longed to hear his laughter once again. The book was still on the shelf. It took only a few hours to finish the small book and I spent the rest of the evening laughing with the stars.
"In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night . . . You – only you – will have stars that can laugh."~ Antoine De Saint-Exupery

Disclaimer: This story is intended for adult audiences. You should not read this if you are under the age of eighteen. "I was born with an extremely prestigious but combat-weak logistics class. As the son of the clan head and the next heir, that just wasn’t enough of an excuse to spare me from my father’s grueling training. For in his creed the only strength that mattered was that grasped in one’s own two hands. In my journey through the lands with my harem, I was grateful for his training as it saved my life multiple times when my girls weren’t there to engage in combat. This is my story." Right Side of Hell
Albus Dumbledore was sure he made the right choice sacrificing an innocent child. Too late he understood how terrible that mistake was. Harry Potter was not what he wanted him to be, he was not what the magical world expected him to be. He was not a replica of James, instead, he inherited more of Lily. Far too much to be convenient.

The Designated: Out of Control
It happened quicker than anyone would have imagined. Multiple hurricanes were one thing. People had dealt with that in the past. But, like kids playing dominoes, one thing crashed into another. Areas affected by hurricanes needed resources all along the Gulf and East Coasts drew rescuers and resources away from other parts of the country. When wildfires lit up the Pacific coast and mid-west, those areas were already understaffed. Driven by hurricanes in the Pacific basin, uncontrolled wildfires burned through towns, destroying everything in their paths. Across the Pacific, Asia didn't escape. From the Philippines, across China, into Indochina, and Bangladesh and India. Typhoons and cyclones pounded the coasts and far inland. Widespread flooding forced millions from their homes and across international borders. Mexico was hit hard and thousands died in mudslides as Katia slammed into their East Coast. The refugees fled north and west. Rumours started that hundreds of thousands were headed for the US border. Instead of running out of steam in the southern US, several hurricanes tore up the eastern seaboard, devastating cities and renewing their strength before veering east across the Atlantic. Maria and Ophelia veered east and slammed into Europe, reaching as far as the Netherlands and Russia before finally dissipating. After that, too many weather stations were offline to provide any form of co-ordinated information or warnings. Wildfires in Portugal burned ahead of the storms, fanned by hurricane winds. They sparked wildfires leapfrogging across Europe, beyond any one country's ability to cope. Already uneasy from multiple terrorist attacks over the summer, anti-refugee groups seized the opportunity to stage protests across Europe. Some turned violent as they clashed with police forces. Several governments declared martial law to quell the rioting and enforce evacuations along the path of the storms. Rumour and speculation overwhelmed facts. Unrest spilled over into widespread violence. Then sickness broke out in the displaced populations. Within a matter of a dozen weeks, tens of millions died. In the coming winter months hundreds more would follow. The Designated Project was activated.
