《Christmas Special - F1 One Shots - Completed》#2 - Max Verstappen

Holding onto Max's hand, I smiled up at him before he looked away. I couldn't help but look him up and down, my lips smirking. He always looked so delicious in a suit, even better in the blue one he wore tonight. If we weren't in public I would have started to strip him out of it. Unfortunately, we were at the Red Bull Christmas party and we were surrounded by people.
"Oh, look," Max got my attention. I looked to where he was watching before I saw Alex with his new girlfriend, Jenna. "I didn't know he was bringing her along."
I smiled at I looked at how Alex held her close to him as they danced together. Alex whirled the brunette around to the Christmas songs that played softly in the room. "They are so cute," I gushed as I leaned my head on Max's shoulder as I watched them. "Why don't you dance like that with me?"
Max laughed, "Because I know you wouldn't like it really."
Oh, he knew me so well.
"Oh, wow."
I was confused for a moment before I saw Alex holding some mistletoe above his head before he planted a kiss on the woman he'd brought along.
"" I scoffed as I sat up straight and shook my head. I looked up at Max who was chuckling. "What?"
Max gave me a small nudge before he kissed me on the cheek. "Riv, you are such a romantic," he joked before he got up. "Do you want a drink?"
"Yeah," I smiled at him before he walked away towards the bar.
As I sat alone, I watched Alex with the young woman. I had only met Jenna once at the last track, she seemed a nice enough girl but very quiet. As she led Alex around the dancefloor you wouldn't think she was the same person.

"Babe," I was brought back to reality when I heard Max's voice from behind me. I didn't know how much time had passed but when I turned around I saw him at my height as he slightly crouched. He held a sprig of mistletoe in his right hand which he held above the two of us. "Well?"
I shook my head as I grinned widely. He was so irresistible sometimes.
"You continue to surprise me, Mr Verstappen," I winked before I leaned forward and pecked him on the lips. "You better not have had that in your pocket too."

The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.
