《Awakening》Chapter 10 - Edited

Amra was resting sideways on her bed again, with Caliope only inches away, her eyes closed, facing down. He had an arm below his head, elevating his gaze above her body, and his other arm was guiding his hand up and down as his fingertips brushed the contours of her body. She was ticklish, and giggled softly every time he caressed her waist and her back. After a long silence between them, he whispered words in her ear.
"On a hot summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses...?"
Caliope held silent for a moment and then she smiled, without opening her yes, but leaning closer to him. She knew those words well.
"Will he offer me his mouth...?"
"Will you give him your lips...?"
Caliope opened her eyes and tilted her head to look at him, as the words she knew well were modified to form something else. What will she answer? What did he want her to answer? She took a deep breath and followed her instincts.
"Will he offer me his teeth...?"
"Will you give in turn your fears...?"
She felt his words had a special meaning, and she nodded slowly before continuing.
"Will he offer me his jaws...?"
"Only if you kiss him..."
"Will he offer me his hunger...?"
"Think twice before asking him that... you might find yourself waking up something hidden."
She swallowed hard. It was midnight, and they had been there resting next to each other for hours. She thought about what it took for her to get there, his words had a meaning, his voice was determined, and she felt how intense her feelings were for him too. Fears subsided when she nodded slowly one more time.
"Will he offer me his hunger?"
Amra moved his hand around her and turned her over, so he could pin her down. He leaned his lips so close to hers, and brushed her lips with his tenderly.
"Yes." He breathed.
"And... Will he starve without me?"
Amra kissed her, whispering a faint "Yes..." making her melt under his touch. She was crushed by the weight of his world and it felt as light as a feather, in his words she felt the love he was professing to her. His body grinded on hers and she was burning, arching her body towards his, and molding her own to him.
He broke the kiss to let her catch her breath, and she whimpered softly, realizing only then that she was about to faint for the lack of oxygen. She still needed more time to learn how to kiss an Angel, her Angel.
"I think we have visitors."
Caliope blinked, confused, her dream like moment now gone. Amra slowly moved aside and let her sit on the bed.
"Whatever happens... just look at me, my Asteria..."
She blinked again with more surprise, she never heard that name yet she knew somehow it belonged to her. She sat on the bed, looking at him, and he closed his eyes. As soon as he did, she felt as the air grew thick and dense, a familiar strange sensation she had felt before. He slowly released her hand and turned towards the window. A voice in her head reminded her 'just look at me' and so she followed him with her gaze as he moved to the window and opened it.

At the corner of her eyes she saw a dark shadow outside, the hair on the back of her neck stood up and she started to breath fast, nervously. 'Just look at me' the voice echoed again and she kept looking at him as he pulled his arms out and dragged the dark figure inside almost violently. A bitter taste started numbing her tongue, and then expanded to her throat. A bitterness that was starting to numb more of her in a way she never felt before. She gasped and Amra turned towards her angrily; not at her but at that figure inside the room. 'Just look at me!' the voice screamed in her head and she gasped again feeling her vision clouded, she started to feel sick, losing control of her senses and abilities. Her hands felt down to the bed and her eyes were about to close.
"Release her... now...!"
Amra's voice was far but she heard him well, and suddenly she could breathe again, the bitterness gone, the suffocation extinguished. She started to cough and struggled to catch air. When she focused her vision in Amra, she saw a thin white and subtle light that surrounded him. The dark figure now had the full shape and look of an old man who was dressed in rags.
"Stay..." He ordered to the human-like figure. His words were filled of anger, his eyes had a rage that she never saw before. He turned around and walked towards her, sitting on the bed to caress her face and check her health. He was worried, yet still glowing. She was still recovering from the sudden shock.
"Are you ok? Can you move?"
"I think I can... I am ok now. Who is that? Or what?"
"Don't worry about him. Go to the living room and call Elaine, your phone won't work here."
She stood up and ran to the living room, dialing Miss Clark's number and checking on the time. Elaine picked up the call on the second rang.
"There is a dark one in my room, and Amra wants you and Pronab to come."
After a second of silence she replied "Are you ok?"
"I am now, but please hurry. He is... scary."
"He can't hurt you dear."
"I meant Amra..."
"Oh...! We are on our way..."
Ending the call Caliope turned to look inside her room and she could see the scene in a blur. Amra was standing, white thin glow around him, and the dark figure was on the floor looking up at him in silence. All around the room there was a big luminescent field, and she immediately thought it was Amra's power. She walked inside again and Amra made her stop with a gesture.
"Embrace yourself..."
Caliope wrapped her arms around herself and felt the thick air drop instantly. The dark human released a loud moan full of pain and he started to crawl around the floor at an unhuman speed. She looked scared at Amra and felt the fear go away as he looked back at her reassuringly. The dark creature crawled repeatedly around her then stopped between them both. The air grew thick fast, and the density was almost suffocating. She gasped.
"Now, go lead them in here, please."
Caliope turned and rushed to her door, Miss Clark was there with Pronab, who quickly walked inside without wasting any second, she held Caliope and hugged her tenderly. Both walked inside the room where the most confusing scene of all was occurring. Pronab was pulling out from thin air a burning red iron chain, and was tying the creature with it. She squeezed Caliope's hand and whispered in her ear.

"Pronab's truth chains will bind the creature and reveal its true motives for being here."
Caliope just nodded, nothing that happened around her before was as shocking and unreal as the scene she was now witnessing. Amra kept his eyes locked on the creature as the creature look back at him. An exchange that made her realize that all the world she had only been hearing about was real. As soon as Pronab finished binding the creature with his chains, he gave one step back and nodded at Amra. Again, the thickness was gone, and the creature screamed in pain. Caliope gasped and turned to look at Miss Clark.
"We will have the cops here in no time with so many screams."
"It won't go out of this room, Amra made sure of it."
She turned to look back at Pronab kneeling to the creature who started shaking and cursing. He clasped his fingers and made the creature look back at him.
"You only have the option to tell the truth, each lie will bind you tighter. We won't be sad if you are gone. Who are you?"
The dark creature growled and spat at Pronab's feet. A simple circling move with Pronab's fingers made the chains twist and squeeze around the creature tighter. The creature screamed again. Caliope covered her ears watching the scene.
"I am a fallen one... the name is Furcas."
The chains released some of the constriction around him. His voice was so human, so normal, Caliope found it hard to believe it came out of that repelling creature.
He noticed the chains giving in a little and started to calm down.
Pronab continued "What are you doing here?"
"I was sent to spy... spy... spy... spy... spy on the one that can see us." He nodded and looked at Caliope. The chains loosened a tiny bit more.
"Were you the one in the park yesterday?"
"It wasn't me... it wasn't me... this is my first assignment."
Caliope frowned; she remembered having the feeling of being watched weeks ago, at least twice, and right now she knew it was of no coincidence. But chains loosened a bit more, so he must be saying the truth, and she was confused.
Caliope took a step forward and confronted him "A couple of weeks ago I felt I was being watched, since it wasn't you, was it someone like you?"
Everyone turned to Caliope, including Amra, and she noticed that she failed to reveal that piece of information earlier; but until then, it was nothing more than strange sensations that seemed unrelated. Now they were real possibilities. The creature hissed and growled a little, making Pronab and Amra concentrate back on him.
"Furcas was not here before!"
She released Miss Clark's hand and gave another step closer to them, something was giving her courage, she felt safe surrounded by the Angels she met, and the one who had her heart.
"You are avoiding the question... you were not here... but others before you were... right?"
"Yes..."
"Why before?"
"To spy... spy... spy... on you..."
"What do you know about me?"
"The one that can see us... the daughter of a fallen one... you were lost... lost... lost..."
Before Caliope could continue, or even think in something else, Miss Clark rested a hand on her shoulder and Amra spoke.
"You will tell us now, everything you know... everything..."
Furcas hissed with his head low, he couldn't look up at Amra, but he was upset to be put in the position he was now.
"It has been a few months since we were told that the daughter of a fallen one was alive... we thought she was lost... lost... lost... the first two came to spy... spy... spy... to know if she had her powers awoken... but she was plain... human... so no one else looked... until orders were given to me to spy again... yes again... she could see us! That is not good! And now she is with you all... Angels! That is bad... very bad... yes bad... she belongs to US...!" He hissed.
The chains loosened another little more and Caliope shivered. They wanted to take her and she felt her own fear crawling up in her skin. She gasped. But Furcas continued.
"But now, I don't know... I don't know... I wasn't supposed to fight Angels... I am not one of the warriors! I don't fight... I don't fight... powerful Angels defeated me too fast."
"You will leave and never return. You will announce to whoever send you that she is no longer a part of your kind, she is with us, and she is with Me. And I am Amrafel."
Furcas eyes widened and looked up scared, he crawled on the floor as if hearing that name was hurting him. Hissing words Caliope could not understand. Pronab was visibly upset but did not say a word. Put his hands on the chains, and they fell down to the floor, where he slowly pulled back to himself as he stood up.
"You will do what I said." Amra repeated.
"Yes... yes I will inform."
"Now go."
Furcas looked around only for a second then curled to the window where suddenly no light could aim him well, he was a black form of a human again, and with a jump, he was gone out of sight. Amra walked to Caliope and held her in his arms.
"They won't take you... not now, not ever."
"What makes you sure of that?" She said as her lips quivered.
"They know you are mine now."
She blushed, but even though she had more questions, she pressed her face in his chest and held silent for a while. Miss Clark and Pronab whispered things to each other, bringing back Caliope's attention.
"I don't think you are safe here anymore Caliope, come with us to the residence and you can stay in the guest room. Magna will be expecting us when we get there now."
Pronab added "I will stay close too."
"I don't know, I was thinking I had to go to work in the morning... waking up where I work is another thing."
Amra lifted Caliope's chin gently and made her look up at him. He was worried, that thin glow gone. She felt her heart was shrinking watching his worried look.
"Ok, I will go with you." She gave in.
