There are no instructions

telling us what one must do

to fix a broken heart

So what do we do?

We try acting normal

while our eyes become black

pools of darkness

We write ink smeared pages

of poetry

while holding tissues soaked with tears

And when that fails,

we struggle to stand;

stumbling like drunk fools

with bleeding hearts

and broken parts

We try mending what is broken,

but we can't
