His Birthday Present
"Haha Axel! You should've seen your face!" Her voice spoke with a echo "you were so adorable when you had a heart" her voice said again. Only this time. Softer. "I know. 'Oh Axel you had such chubby cheeks'" his voice said echoing through his mind "It was the cutest thing ever" another echo.
A tear fell down his face. It had been months since (y/n) left on a mission. Axel had kept a smile on his face for the months that (y/n)'s been gone. Thought, whoever he was alone, all he would do was cry and tell himself that it was probably his fault she hadn't returned.
One great day, great news spread throughout The World That Never Was. News saying that (y/n) returned. Except. Axel wasn't told anything. He was spoken to that morning. He shrugged it off and decided to go watch whatever happened through his window.
As Axel laid in bed, his heart sinking within each second. A soft knock on the door startled the Fiery man. He sat up and made sure no tears fall. He opens the door. Her body standing in front of him. A bow placed on top of her (h/c) locks. "Happy birthday dork" she giggled and smiled up at him. His mouth dropped. He hugged her tightly "months...... just months that you've been gone... do you know how worried I was! How I thought it was me who made you not want to come back! This whole day no one has talked to me. h-here you are.... right in front of me..... is it really you?" He asked feeling all over her face. She rolled her eyes and leaned up planting a soft but loving kiss on his lips, she pulled away and smiled "does that prove it's really me?" "Yes." Axel said pulling her into another tight hug.

The day went by and everyone talked with Axel and (y/n). (Y/n) had gotten a lot of attention from the other nobody's but told them to turn their attention to Axel.
Night fell upon the world. Axel took (y/n) to the top of the building while eating a Sea Salt Ice Cream with her "so.... why were you gone for so long?" He asks "my mission. Xigbar sent me on a mission to find the Keyblade. After all these months I never found it. I decided to stop looking and straight up tell him I couldn't find the key. This morning I told everyone not to tell you that I was here cause I wanted to surprise you..." her words falling out of her mouth with ease. Axel stopped and so did she. Axel pulled her close and hugged her tightly "I've missed you so much" he said lighting a small flame on his finger. (Y/n) smiled. (Y/n) and Axel finished their ice creams and looked down at the sticks "you're a winner" carved into the stick, axel looked down at her and smiled "I am a winner" he said before kissing her deeply and lovingly. He pulled her close by her waist and wrapped an arm around her waist and the other intertwining with her hand. (Y/n) kissing back, wrapping a hand around his neck and the other also intertwining with his hand.
"I love you."
"I love you too"
"Best birthday present ever"
"I'm glad it is"

The Badger Dungeon
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Dungeons. Everyone's heard of them. Sprawling maze-like places where you can find special objects that can't be found anywhere else in the world, train to become a great warrior or wizard, and slay dozens of monsters. Drops! Loot! Glory! What more could you want? Dungeons are places of danger and adventure, full of thrills and maybe even romance, where people enter as your normal and everyday person but leave as a hero. Even a child knows what a dungeon is! A dungeon is controlled and ruled over by its Dungeon Core, a mana crystal that's gained sentience, and with it a mind just as twisted as the home that it makes for itself. Dungeon Cores all have very simple wants and needs: to expand and to devour, and to that end, they'll do absolutely everything and anything within their power. Everyone knows that. Sometimes, though? Sometimes the Dungeon Core doesn't know that. Sometimes they wake up all alone, confused and with no clue what they should do, and find themselves quickly becoming the home to a family of badgers and other creatures. The Dungeon Core can be left struggling to figure out their role in the world and how exactly they're supposed to achieve it. They're really doing their best, and you shouldn't judge them for it! The badger thing was a complete mistake but there's just no way they can turn back and fix it so they're just trying to make do, okay?! What would you do in their situation?! Travelers [DROPPED]
DROPPED. The story focuses less on dungeon building than on the why of dungeons and how they fit into the universal order. While I am working from a grand plot, the writing is going slice of life style because I need to do that to work out how things progress into that grand plot. The original story seed idea / synopsis is below. The Grand Tapestry protects Rhofhir from Primal Chaos by imposing Order via patterns. However, the patterns grow stiff, stagnant, and so the Tapestry is nearing a time of Unraveling. Evidence of past civilizations wiped out during previous Unravelings foreshadow the apocalyptic catastrophe looming over the world. The mages of the Arcane Asylum reach out across dimensions, searching for some way to prevent, or at least stall, the coming Unraveling. Among the many voices they find is a gifted graduate student researching machine-assisted telepathy -- and his gaming group. Lena never expected that the chance to play DnD with telepathy would result in her becoming an actual Dungeon Master, nor that her friends could become the bosses of her dungeon. This is, in many ways, her dream come true, but there's a catch: What happened to Brad, the creator of that telepathy machine?
