Abilene, Janie, Hoyt, and August are inside when they hear a gunshot from out front. They run outside, Abilene immediately spotting her son on the ground.

"Liam!" She screams.

"Everybody just stay where you are." Clint orders.

"Mama! Don't-don't." Cordell tells her

"No one try to be a hero now." Clint says.

Abilene falls to her knees, her eyes not tearing away from Liam's body.

Hoyt and the twins stand a little bit behind her, still on the sidewalk leading up to the house. Janie has a tight grip on August's sleeve, her other hand covering her mouth as silent tears start to run down her face at the sight of her uncle.

"Just do exactly what I tell you." Clint orders. "We'll get through this. Hey." He nods to Cordell. "Drop the holster. Trevor?" He calls to his son. Cordell begins to take his holster off. "Don't do anything stupid now. You got a family to worry about."

Trevor walks over to him and tries to take the belt from him. Cordell tightly holds onto it until finally letting Trevor take it.

"All right. Let's all go inside and have a little chat." Clint says.

"Clint... let me take my brother." Cordell says.

"Oh, your brother, huh?" Clint asks.

"Yeah." Cordell nods.

"The attorney who helped put us away? Well, don't matter. He's dead now." Clint says. Those words get Abilene to finally start sobbing. "Let me be clear. No one else needs to get hurt if you do exactly what I say. Okay?" Cordell nods. "Let's go."

Clint and his other guys start to lead Stella and Cordell up to the house. Hoyt puts Stella in front of him and she keeps a hand on both of her siblings' arms.

"You can't leave him here like this." Abilene tells Clint who walks up to her.

"Mrs. Walker. Your son left me for dead. He got my wife killed. So any notions you might have about right and wrong, lose 'em." Clint tells her. He holds his hand out to help her up, but she gets up on her own. "Let's go."

Clint points his gun at her and she walks inside. Stella leads the twins inside, walking behind them.

"All right." Clint says as Hoyt, Stella, and Janie sit down. Cordell, August, and Abilene are on the other side of the table. Janie still has tears silently running down her face as she's able to picture nothing but her uncle's unmoving body.

"No phones, no guns, no weapons, no sudden moves." Clint tells them. "Search the house. They got guns." He tells his men and a couple go off to search. "Trevor. Said you've been working on your rope skills. How about you show me?" He says, holding rope out to his son.

Trevor takes the rope.

"All right, you all be smart, listen up." Clint orders. "And this will all be over soon enough." He says as Trevor begins to tie Cordell's hands together behind the chair.

"What do you want, Clint?" Cordell asks.

"I want my wife back." Clint states.

"He didn't kill her." Stella states.

"I can see how it can be confusing. Your daddy, a Texas Ranger, killing a man's wife, a boy's mother." Clint says.

"That's not what happened." Cordell states.

"You got their minds all twisted up, just like you did me, Crystal, our family." Clint says and Abilene looks at him as Trevor finishes tying her up and moves on to Janie. "Oh, you don't like hearing that, do you? Come on. Y'all had to wonder. "Why's he been gone for so long?" Because he wanted to stay. He was one of us."

"You're here because the guy you thought was your bronco buddy left you high and dry?" Hoyt asks as Trevor ties him up.

"What the hell you know about betrayal? Why you even here, stranger?" Clint asks.

"I'm the stranger who knows you couldn't convince two hired guns to help you out in this without promising a whole lot of money." Hoyt says.

"Okay. You seem to know all the angles. How's that?" Clint asks.

"I've done my time." Hoyt says.

"Ex-con. Do tell. What for?" Clint asks as Trevor stands up, done with tying everybody up.

"Oh, robbery, mostly. But I've been thinking about murder lately." Hoyt says and Clint laughs.

"Who's this? Your muse? The real outlaw that put meat on the bones of that Duke character of yours? Oh, my Lord. We got a whole family of criminals and cutthroats right here. This is why I love a little get-to-know-ya." Clint says.

"Okay, what do you want?" Cordell asks.

"I've been patient for months behind bars. Appreciate if you do the same for me." Clint says. "Which brings me to our first order of business. Have Adriana or whatever her real name is bring Jaxon here."

They get Micki on the phone and she answers.

"Hey. How was the drive back with Stella?" Micki asks.

"She's, uh... she's doing the best she can." Cordell says. "Hey, you still got Jaxon?"

"Uh, no. I dropped him off at, uh, county lockup early this morning. Why?" Micki asks.

"I was just thinking maybe we could get him to cough up where Clint might have ran off to." Cordell lies.

"Yeah... we can still question him behind bars." Micki says.

"Clint... Clint is still out there. Clock's ticking." Cordell says.

"We are all on it. In the meantime, you just don't forget about later, okay?" Micki tells him.

"Later?" Cordell asks.

"DPS Commission? You know, the whole performance evaluation that's been rescheduled for months that puts your entire career on the line?" Micki says.

"Yeah. Yeah, uh..."

"4:00 P.M."

"Of course, yeah, right, 4:00 PM."

"I'll catch you up on the Clint West manhunt after. Until then, just... be with your family."

"All right, yup. Uh, thanks. See you, Micki." Cordell bids and Clint hangs up the phone, handing it to one of his guys.

"I bought your little act there. You folks buy that? He's something, isn't he? One thing: what's this about a performance evaluation?" Clint asks.

"A hearing to review my actions while on duty." Cordell says and Clint laughs.

"Hell, they should have me down to testify. A character witness." Clint says.

"Keep on talking, Clint. The longer you stand on your soap box, less chance you got of getting away." Cordell says. "I can't get Jaxon out, you hear me? Besides, bringing a fugitive here? Raise a million red flags. So, what is it you want?"

"Show me all the pretty horsies." Clint says.

Trevor cuts Cordell free and him and Clint leave the house.

Clint and another guy took Abilene since they realized that Bonham had gotten home. Cordell is back and tied up next to August as he was earlier.

One of the guy leaves, leaving Trevor alone with the family.

"Trevor. Trevor." Cordell calls making the boy look at him, putting his knife away. "Whatever your dad told you is a lie. Don't do this, please."

"So you had nothing to do with my mother's death?" Trevor asks, walking over to him. "Nothing at all?"

"What happened to your mother wasn't so simple. But this. You know this is wrong. You know that." Cordell says before they hear the door open and Trevor walks away from the table.

"Guess who's coming to dinner." Clint announces as he walks in, followed by Bonham holding Liam up, Abilene, and Clint's guys following.

"Liam." Cordell calls.

"Uncle Liam!" The twins exclaim. Janie's eyes widen in horror at all the blood covering her uncle's shirt making her eyes tear up again.

"Take him to one of the back rooms." Clint orders.

"You have to let us help him." Abilene says. A guy tries to take Liam from Bonham.

"I got him. I got him." Bonham insists, but the guy rips Liam from his father as Clint yanks Bonham back. "What are you doing?! You go easy with my boy!" He shouts as the guy starts leaving with Liam.

"Dad! Daddy, daddy, stop it!" Cordell shouts. "Dad..."

"Sit down." Clint orders, making Bonham sit at the head of the table. Clint pulls out the chair Abilene sat in earlier, looking at her. "Please take a seat. After you." Abilene sits down.

"Where's that rope, Trevor?" Clint asks. Trevor gets the rope and starts tying the married couple up.

"What kind of man are you to have your boy be part of this?" Bonham asks.

"Don't you talk to me about being a father. You know who you raised?" CLint asks, pointing the gun at Bonham's forehead.

"Stop!" Abilene yells. "Please stop."

"Clint, don't." Cordell begs.

"Pointing a gun at an old man?" Hoyt asks before whistling. "Yeah, you're a real tough guy. Is it just Clint or you all the same low-down--" Hoyt's cut off by Clint hitting him in the head with the butt of a gun. Janie flinches, turning her head away, ignoring the couple of tears that drop from her eyes.

"Yeah. Okay. I get it." Hoyt says. "Nope. Actually don't get it. You're still a piece of--" Hoyt's cut off by Clint kicking the chair making Hoyt fall to the ground. The action makes Janie shriek.

"You know, the crying can get pretty annoying." Clint says. "Baby of the family is the crybaby, apparently." He says. He spins Janie's chair around on the back two legs, making her face him. Janie can't contain the whine that leaves her mouth out of fear, looking at Clint with watery eyes.

August and Stella share a panicked look, August having anger in his eyes as well. Bonham, Abilene, and Cordell fight against the restraints.

"Come on. Ain't this fun?" Clint asks Janie, lazily pointing the gun at her which only makes her let another small whimper of fear out.

"Stop! Enough! Enough! Clint?" Cordell yells. "This is about you and me, not them. Tell me what you want. Tell me." Cordell pleads and Clint walks over to him, stepping over Hoyt to do so. "Just-just tell me. Anything. I'll do it."

"Anything?" Clint asks.

"Yeah, anything." Cordell nods. "Just... just stop."

"How about robbing a bank?" Clint asks.

"You want to rob a bank?" Cordell asks.

"It's perfect, ain't it?" Clint asks.

"Everyone in the country's looking for you." Cordell says. "And you just want to try and pull off a robbery in the middle of the day?"

"Oh, as much as I'd love to relive our glory days, I'm sitting this one out." Clint states. "I'm gonna stay here and get to know the family a little bit better. But you will need some help."

"Giddyup." Hoyt says from his spot on the floor and Clint laughs.

"Only seems right that the bank robber who inspired the imposter helps him do the real thing now. Okay, cut him loose, Trevor." Clint orders.

Hoyt rips his hands from the rope and jumps up.

"Oh, well, look at that. Must've broken loose in the fall." Hoyt shrugs. He tosses the rope to the ground before clicking his tongue and winking.

Hoyt and Cordell left and the only one with the remaining family is Trevor and a guy in the kitchen. They hear Liam screaming in agony from the room they put him in. Janie is facing the table again.

"Guys, come on. We have to help him. He's in pain." August says.

"Well, we can't teleport so." Janie slightly rolls her eyes. She looks at August seeing his sad yet annoyed look. "Sorry." She mumbles.

She's either crying or making jokes when she's scared, upset, any emotion that she doesn't want to have. It just depends on what she feels like.

"Hey." August calls to Trevor. "Trevor, don't just stand there and pretend you can't hear him."

"Trevor, look at me." Stella pleads and he does so. "If we don't help my uncle, he's gonna die."

"No one was supposed to get hurt." Trevor says.

"We're way past that, boy." Bonham says.

"Your dad is an angry person, if not just a psycho, trying to get revenge on our dad. Of course one or more people in our family are gonna get hurt." Janie states.

"Just do what my father says. When they get back, they bring the money, it'll all be over." Trevor states.

"Yeah, after he shoots us all." Janie mumbles under her breath.

"Trevor, what happened to your mother-- I am so sorry. But if you don't want this to get any worse, then you will let us help him. Please." Stella says.

The door opens and Clint walks in.

"They behave?" Clint asks.

"Yeah. Uh, dad, can we talk?" Trevor asks.

"Sure, son." Clint nods and they walk to the hall, talking in hushed voices.

After the talk, that Janie didn't have the energy to try to eavesdrop on, Trevor soon walks over and lets the three siblings free, following them to the room Liam is in.

+++

Trevor is standing against the dresser while the twins are with Liam who is lying on the bed. August is standing next to him, holding a towel to his wound while Janie sits on the edge of the bed, holding his hand.

Stella walks in with some towels and the first aid kit, sitting on the bed.

"You all right? You're fine, you're fine, just-just don't look at it." August tells his uncle. "Okay, ready?"

"Uh-huh." Stella nods.

"Okay. 1, 2, 3." August counts and takes his hands off Liam's wound. The siblings gasp looking at it.

"Okay, put it on him. Put it on him." August says and Stella puts the small towel on him and August puts pressure on it. "Okay. He's fine." August promises, looking between both of his sisters.

Stella attempts to give her uncle a comforting smile, despite the uneasiness on her face and tears in her eyes. She holds his free hand.

Janie hears footsteps and looks to see Clint standing in the doorway. She immediately looks back at Liam, not wanting to see Clint.

"Keep an eye on them." Clint orders Trevor. Janie looks over, seeing Trevor take the gun his father offers. Clint leaves.

"You remember when our biggest worry was that scar on your head?" Liam asks Stella. "I'll never tell." He says making Stella laugh a little. "I'm so glad I stayed." He whispers and Stella nods. He looks to Janie. "Jane, keep taking your emotions out in a good way. Though, it is nice to destroy a room every once in a while." He jokes making Janie let out a choked laugh.

"Yeah. Therapeutic." She mutters.

"Keep going." He tells her and she nods so he looks at August. "Augie, I know that it's hard. But you... you got to stay strong." Liam says.

"Uncle Liam, look, I-I know that you're in pain. But we'll-we'll-we'll--"

"Hey." Liam cuts his nephew off. "They're gonna need you, okay? Hey. I see you." He states and August nods.

"Uncle Liam, please stop saying goodbye." Stella says. "He needs a doctor." She turns to Trevor.

"Trevor, come on. I thought we were friends, man." August says. "I mean, seriously, are you even human anymore? Just, please, help him." August pleads.

"I want to, but-but you can't leave." Trevor says.

"Trevor, when we went to the cabin, did you ever really want to get away or did you want us to end up right back here, like them?" Stella asks, standing in front of him.

"I wanted to get away. For us to get away." Trevor answers.

Janie can't tear her eyes away from Liam's wound which August notices.

"Hey. Hey." He calls, getting his twin to look at him. "It's fine. He's fine, Banana." August promises.

"Then remember that person. Just-just let us make a phone call. Coach Barnett-- he was a medic, and w-we can trust him." Stella says.

"My-my dad has your phones." Trevor says.

Stella turns to her family, crying.

"It's fine, Stella." August promises.

"Here." Trevor quietly says and the siblings look to see him holding his phone out. "Take it." Stella grabs the phone, sitting on the bed and calling Trey and he picks up.

"You can't call the cops." She immediately orders, not giving any greeting. "Seriously, you can't. Uncle Liam got shot." "His chest. The-the side of his chest? I..."

"Okay, okay, okay. HOw's his breathing?" Janie can hear Trey ask.

"Not great. Um... uneven." Stella decides on. Janie grabs Stella's wrist and holds the phone up to Liam's mouth so Trey can hear the raspy breathing. Janie lets go and Stella puts the phone back to her ear.

"Wait, Stella. Who shot him?" Trey asks.

"If I tell you, they'll kill us." Stella says.

"Can you give me a visual on the wound?" Trey asks and Stella instantly switches to video chat. "I can walk you through what to do. "All right, that's perfect, Stella. He's losing a lot of blood. But the bullet hole's not in the box. Now that's good. Uh, look at his trachea, his-his windpipe. Come on, Stella. I know you've seen this on TV."

"Janie?" Stella asks.

"I watch Criminal Minds. They tend to save the person before they get too hurt or go on the case because the other people weren't taken care of." Janie says.

"Yeah, yeah, okay." Stella says, moving the camera a little.

"Yeah, to the right. Now you're gonna want to find something to cauterize the wound." Trey states.

"Um, gramps has a branding iron, but it's in the, um... the barn." August says.

"That works. That's perfect." Trey says. "Just make sure that thing is hot as hell, all right?"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. So, so, we're gonna... we're gonna operate on him?" Stella asks.

"Stella, don't think. Act. Now. Or your uncle's gonna die." Trey tells her.

+++

The sun is setting now and they made Liam lie down, no longer propped up against the headboard by pillows. Stella, August, and Janie are standing by the bed and August puts a lamp over Liam and they have the lights off.

"Okay, so..." August trails off for instructions.

"You got to cut down to the bullet hole." Trey says.

"No, no, no, no. Cutting into him makes no sense." Stella says.

"Stella, we need to relieve the pressure. Trust me. This is why you called me." Trey says.

"I've got gramps' Leatherman." Stella says. She gives the phone to August while going to get said thing.

"Great. Hey, you got his, uh... you got his moonshine, too?" Trey asks.

"Um, yup. Yup, yup." Stella answers, getting it out from under her bed.

"All right, we definitely gonna talk about that one later." Trey says. Stella returns right next to the bed. "All right, now, sterilize the wound and the blade with the alcohol."

"Okay." Stella whispers. She opens the alcohol and pours some on the knife.

"That's it." Trey says.

"I'm sorry." Stella tells her uncle before pouring the alcohol on his wound making him yell in pain.

"Then make an incision with the blade to pop into the chest cavity." Trey instructs. Stella puts the blade to Liam's chest. "Yup. Yep, that's it." Stella cuts in making Liam yell in pain. Janie is able to see the wound and she feels the bile rise up. She grabs the first thing she can and pukes into it. She feels a hand rub her back softly and knows it's August. He's partly using it as an excuse to not watch Stella and Liam right now, but he keeps the phone pointed them so Trey can guide her through it.

"No, no, no, no. That's okay. Oh, that's okay. That's okay. Just put pressure on it and then sterilize it." Trey says.

Janie groans, pulling her face out of the object, realizing it's one of Stella's bags which only makes her groan more.

Stella puts a piece of cloth on Liam's wound.

"You got that iron?" Trey asks and Stella nods.

"Hey, you've earned yourself a new tattoo." Stella tells her uncle with a smile, trying to ease all of their anxiety.
