"Courts?" August whispered. "We're here."
Courtney woke up, looking at him.
"Already?" She asked, yawning.
"Already." He replied, placing a strand of her hair behind her ear.
Her pony tail was messy so she took it out.
August smiled and held her hand. He glanced at Ethan, snores coming from Hunt's mouth. The same was with Luther. Benji was dozing off. The CIA agents were the only ones awake. Courtney was quickly fixing her hair.
"Do I look alright?" She whispered.
"You don't look alright." August looked at her, pausing his sentence.
Courtney stared at her feet, slightly upset about his comment.
"You look better than alright."
"What am I then?"
He held her hand tighter and moved closer to her.
"Beautiful." He whispered in her ear, making her blush.
Ethan woke up.
"Are we there yet?" He asked.
"We're here." Benji woke up from his doze.
"You should go inside and find a room. I advise that no one shares a room unless you're comfortable with it." He glanced at Courtney and August, making them blush lightly.
"Do you have to stare at us like that?" August asked, looking at him.
"If you two share a room together, I hope you don't do anything inappropriate. It's happened to two agents before." Ethan said, smirking. "I'm not sure if I trust both of you alone though."
"Excuse me?!" Courtney glared at him. "Nothing's going to happen! Trust me, trust him. We've never done anything inappropriate nor will we ever do anything inappropriate. We're only friends."
"Fine, I guess we can trust you." Ethan sighed, looking at August. "If you touch her anywhere intimate, I'm killing you."
"She isn't your priority, is she? She's MY priority. If she gives me permission to do things like that, you can't kill me." August frowned. "Isn't Julia your priority?"
Ethan stayed quiet.
"Yeah, that's what I thought. Did you even say 'Goodbye' to her?"
"Umm... no?"
"And she's your wife?"
"Yes."
"What if you never see her again?"
Benji and Courtney looked at them.
"Alright, boys. Calm down." Benji sighed. "No arguments."
"He's right." Courtney smiled. "Now, we should probably go inside rather than stay in the car forever."
Benji nodded and got out of the car, opening Ethan's door so he could get out. Ethan smiled slightly and got out of the car. August quickly followed, then glanced at Courtney and the car door closest to her. Courtney gave him a small smile. He opened the door for her and held his hand out for to take. She quickly held his hand and climbed out of the car, letting go of him when she got out of the vehicle.

Ethan kept staring at Courtney and August. Maybe he was jealous? No, he couldn't be. He was in love with Julia and only Julia. But he kept staring at Courtney so much. Were they flirting? They couldn't be. They were partners in crime. They just couldn't date. Wouldn't their boss fire them?
They seemed good at hiding secrets from people; deep secrets; dark secrets; secrets that could get them fired easily. Why would they flirt with each other though? He was pretty sure he heard August whisper something to her. What was it though? Maybe it was a compliment. But it couldn't be. They wouldn't flirt. They never flirted.
He had no idea that they had their first kiss that morning. He had no idea that they could possibly be dating. But they couldn't date. They were only friends, friends is what they would always stay.
It wasn't long until they were in this building. Courtney was slightly terrified of the creaking floors and broken windows.
"So... Solomon Lane lives here?" She asked.
"Let's rephrase that, Jenky. Lane used to live here." Ethan said.
"And why are we here?"
"We're here to search for clues and evidence. Well, me and the boys will be doing that."
"If it's just boys doing this, why is she here?" Luther looked at them. "She does have a part, right?"
"Yes. She's the one distracting our target."
"What if she gets hurt and no one's there to save her?" August asked, concerned.
"You actually think she's going to get hurt by the White Widow?" Ethan smirked. "Trust me, she looks like she's a great distraction for White Widow and us, especially you."
"That's kind of rude." Courtney frowned. "Some people take things seriously. How does your wife like you if you're just rude to women?"
"Courtney has a point, Ethan." Benji interrupted the conversation. "One of us should go with her when it's time for White Widow."
Luther opened his computer and sighed. "It's in three days. I can try to get more information on White Widow. Pick your rooms."
And with that, he walked away to find his room. He was going to research some important facts and statistics.
"How many rooms are there?" August looked at Ethan, curious as usual.
"Four, I believe?" Ethan replied. "Yeah, four. And, for our sake, you won't be sharing a room with Jenkins. I still don't trust you that much."
"Just because you don't trust me doesn't mean I can't share a room with her! That isn't fair. She won't be sleeping with YOU either. I don't trust."
"Is that because you think I'll hurt her? She WILL be sleeping with me, like it or lump it."

Courtney sighed. "Ethan, I won't be sleeping with you. I never will nor will I ever be. Out of all people in this room, I only trust Benji and August. You, not so much. I don't trust people that try to hurt me physically and verbally."
"Fine... you can sleep with Walker. Nothing inappropriate though!"
"We've already had that chat, Hunt." August said, sighing.
Courtney walked away from them, not wanting to get involved in an argument. She found a room nearby and went inside, sitting on the bed. She kept the door open to hear what the men were talking about.
August and Benji both noticed that Courtney was gone. Benji sighed and stared at Ethan.
"Why do you hate her?" He asked, confused.
"She's a bloody distraction. What was Sloane even thinking?" Ethan yelled, clearly in a bad mood. "How do both of you like some worthless piece of shit? Who even got her a job like that? She should be dead!"
August frowned and clenched his fists. "Don't talk about her like that! She's been through a lot, okay? She doesn't need someone talking about her behind her back."
"August's correct, Ethan." Benji sighed. "She really doesn't need someone talking about her behind her back."
"I don't trust her! I never have and I never will. August, how are your killing skills?" Ethan asked, curious.
"Umm... well, I'm always the person that has to kill people. That's what my boss said." August replied, a little confused.
Ethan smiled. "Do you like her?"
"Uhh... yeah? Why?"
"In what way?"
"Friend way."
"Hmm..."
"You're trying to make me kill her, aren't you?"
Ethan pursed his lips and sighed. "No... no... no. I'm just curious about certain things." He stayed quiet for a few seconds. "But I have noticed how you act differently around her."
"Act differently? What makes you think that?"
"You're nicer to her. You compliment her. I heard you compliment her when we were in that car. I hear everything."
"What did I say?"
"Something like cute or adorable. I don't know. It was only a whisper."
Benji interrupted the conversation again. "Go find a room, Hunt. Walker can sleep with Jenkins. I'll be next door to them."
And, with that, they left to find their rooms.
August found where Courtney was. He walked into the room to find her sitting on the bed, facing the window. He smiled sadly and closed the door. Courtney glanced at him. August sat beside her, staring at the wall. They were sitting in silence for a while.
"Courtney, are you alright?" He asked, breaking the silence.
She nodded, not replying.
"Listen, Ethan really didn't mean to be like that. He's just... sarcastic." He said, finally looking at her.
No answer.
"It may have sounded like he was telling the truth to you but, trust me, he really didn't mean it."
Still no answer.
"You're usually not this quiet."
Nothing.
"He should think about his words and actions before he says things." Courtney finally spoke.
"I agree." August smiled slightly, holding her hand gently. "Are you actually alright?"
"Not really." Courtney admitted. "But I guess I'll recover soon."
She looked at the man in front of her and gave him a small smile, trying to make herself sound fine when she really wasn't fine.
"She's a bloody distraction. What was Sloane even thinking? How do both of you like some worthless piece of shit? Who even got her a job like that? She should be dead!"
"Am I a distraction to you, August?" She asked, remembering the phrase Ethan had said a few minutes ago.
She heard everything they had said as the bedroom was close to wear the conversation had happened.
"No." August replied, keeping his answer to the question short and simple.
"Well, why did Ethan say I was?"
"Like I said, he was only overreacting."
"It didn't seem like overreacting to me."
"Well, it was. Can I ask you something?"
"I guess."
"Do you trust me?"
"Yes."
"So you trust me if I did this?"
Just as she was about to answer, his lips were on hers. Another kiss. That was the second one they had that day. Arms wrapped around waists, arms wrapped around necks, bodies were laying on the bed, eyes closed. I guess you could call it a kiss of a lifetime.
August seemed to enjoy this pleasure, pleasure that he always wanted, pleasure that he always wanted with a girl, pleasure that he always wanted with a girl like her.
Courtney looked like she was enjoying it too. She had never felt like this before. But, he couldn't ask her out. He could easily get fired. That's what she was more worried about. Jobs. Work. Money. That's what she was worried about.
She knew August was a womaniser. She had no idea how many girls he had dated. It seemed like loads though. Maybe the relationships lasted for a few months?
He never told her about his relationships. She couldn't let him hurt her. But he seemed like he wouldn't hurt her. She hoped he wouldn't ask her out but she knew he probably would and she would probably say "Yes."
She couldn't let him get the best of her. She would just play hard to get. That was a good idea. Play hard to get, no boyfriend. Single for eternity. There was one downside: she actually wanted a family with a guy. It was a dream that never came true. Maybe August was the right person for her? She would never know.

Binary Soul
So let's say there's this girl. A young girl who happens to be a highly-trained, psionically-gifted, nanite-infused, genetically-enhanced and emotionally unstable assassin that doesn't know the concept of 'mercy' or 'holding back.' Let's say she and her imaginary friend miraculously pass through the borders of reality into an alternate universe, crash landing into a world of swords and magic aboard a starship full of high-tech wonders. Now, let's also say the first person this borderline psychopath meets happens to be her doppelganger - a highly gifted mage who happens to have a few problems of her own, like a bad temper or a bad habit of chronic self-delusion. With me so far? Good. Now, what's the on the agenda for these two different people who happen to be the same person? Settle down, start a family and thoroughly enjoy life. Maybe get married and have some kids. How about befriending a violent alcoholic or defeating an ancient evil being? Perhaps kill a few dragons and wreck a city along the way. Anything can happen around the city of Runetap, after all. It's a place where bizarre and strange things occur on an almost weekly basis. The people living there have long abandoned silly things like common sense or minding the details. A giant flaming UFO streaks above the city in broad daylight? That's just another Tuesday. The City Guard even had the form for that, so believe me when I say this. It's your loss if you mind it. This is the light-hearted and fluffy tale of Ellie and Kira as they forge their own path of absurdity and crazyness across a world that often makes little sense. Loosely inspired by the Discworld series of books by Terry Pratchett, even though the author hasn't actually read any of them. Contains yuri, mature themes and the author's personal views on several subjects. Explicit content is kept to a minimum.Does NOT contain slavery, rape, drugs or any other similarly heavy themes.
