《When Fireflies Diminish | Poetry》18 | In A Southeastern Village

In a southeastern village, there was a girl,

A little maiden that loved to drift with the wind,

Climb the trees and watch the little birds.

Plant flowers on the brown soil and sit still,

Expecting them to pop up as if with magic.

In a southeastern village, there was a girl,

A little maiden that slept with her dog

Because her parents didn't let her in.

Snuggled in the warmth of the creature within,

She slept teary-eyed wondering

Why God had abandoned her like that

To two cruel people's will.

In a southeastern village, there was a girl,

Until she moved away and joined the winds,

Watching from above the clouds finally free,

Falling down with the soft rain of summer

Comforting other little abandoned kids.
