《Saving Gracie | ✓》Chapter Ten: Once A Player, Always A Player.

I stand in the shower, dreading the face that today is school and everyone is probably wondering if I actually done it. If I actually jumped off the school building. Well, today they are going to see that I am still alive. I can just imagine what today is going to be like.

Nicole is going to do the same usual thing she does everyday, Luke is going to appear after the scene happens and disappear for the rest of the day and everyone is going to probably stare at me like they did yesterday. Ugh, such a great life.

I close my eyes and tilt my head back, letting the water splash down my face from behind me. I turn the shower off and step out, wrapping a white towel around my body. I wrap one around my hair too before walking out and walking towards my room.

As I close the door behind me, I notice something lying on my bed and I walk towards it, picking up the box. There is a note attached to the box and I rip it off, bringing it closer to my face.

I know this isn't good but at least we can still talk right? - L.P

I open the box and notice that it is a new phone. I look back at the note and notice that the initials are Luke's name.

He got me this so we can talk?

Wait a second, how did he even get in my house?

I take the phone out and switch it on to already see that I have a message. I slide the screen across and open the message.

I smile and place the phone on the bed before walking to my cupboard and picking out my clothes.

Hopefully, unlike Nicole, he stays as my best friend because right now, I can't lose anyone else.

"You cut your hair..." Luke says as I get in his car. I nod and grab a bit of my hair that is resting on my shoulder.

"You don't think it's too short?" I ask and Luke smiles, starting the engine.

"I think it's perfect." Luke says before driving off into the direction of the school. He turns the radio up and a smile appears on my face.

"I like this song." I say, recognising the song as Paris by The Chainsmokers. Luke nods and stops at the lights.

"Yeah it's okay." Luke says and I frown at him.

"You mean it's amazing." I say, throwing my hands in the air to make a point and Luke laughs as I turn to face the road.

"Like you."

"What?" I ask, turning to him in fake confusion. Luke smiles and waves me off.

"Don't worry." Luke says and I nod, looking out the window. Little did he know, I actually heard his words and to be honest, the feelings in my stomach made me smile.

Yep, I am definitely crushing on this boy.

"You okay?" Luke asks, standing beside me as he watches me take out my books from my locker. I nod slowly before slamming the locker shut.

"Yeah, I'm just perfect." I say and Luke frowns at me.

"Do you want them to stop staring?" Luke asks and I nod.

"Yes but even you couldn't-"

"Get your eyes away from my best friend, you bunch of gorillas!" Luke screams at everyone and I hold in a laugh.

"Gorillas, really?"

"Hey, I'm not much of a swearing type of guy." Luke says and I nod.

"I can see that." I say and Luke nods as we walk down the hall for our first class which we don't have together sadly. It is just in the same direction but he has to walk a little further.

As we stop at my class, he turns to me and places a hand on my shoulder. "Don't let anyone start on you, okay? You're tough and independent, Gracie." Luke says and I nod slowly before waving at him and walking into the class. As I make my way to the back, I notice Nicole staring at me curiously. I just ignore her and sit down in my seat, looking at anything but Nicole who keeps glancing at me.

Five minutes pass by and the teacher still hasn't arrived. It's normal for our history teacher to come late because she has five kids to get ready before nine which is quite a job for her.

Nicole stands up from her seat and walks to the table in front of me and sits down. She looks back at me and frowns. "What did I tell you about staying away from my boyfriend, Grace?" Nicole asks and I sigh, running a hand through my now short purple hair.

"He isn't your boyfriend, Nicole." I say and Nicole raises her eyebrows.

"Neither is he yours." Nicole shoots back and roll my eyes.

"Just give me a break, please." I say and Nicole shakes her head.

"You think you're so cool now because you finally have a friend? Wow, I won't be suprised if you tries to get into your pants later on in this 'friendship'." Nicole says and I shake my head.

"You don't know him like I do. He hasn't tried anything on me and he won't ever." I say and Nicole smirks before standing up.

"Once a player, always a player. Remember that." Nicole says before walking back to her seat. As the teacher finally walks in, I let out a frustrated sigh before listening to what the teacher has planned for us today.

"So Gracie, tell me about yourself." Luke says with a smile and I take a bite of my sandwich and look at the field ahead.

"Well, my parents-"

"Gracie, I asked about you." Luke cuts me off and I look at him, raising my eyebrow at him.

"Why? I'm not interesting." I say and Luke shakes his head, the cute smile still on his face.

"First off, your are interesting. Second, because I want to know about you, is that such a crime?" Luke asks and I shake my head, a smile forming onto my lips.

"Okay, well, I don't like cats. If you were to shove a cat in my face, I would probably run or scream. I'm more of a dog person." I say and Luke raises an eyebrow at me.

"Excuse me, whats wrong with cats?" Luke asks defensively and I roll my eyes playfully.

"They are scary." I confess and Luke laughs.

"You mean cute." Luke says and I shake my head, a serious frown on my face.

"No, they are honestly so scary. Especially their eyes. I mean, if they are a nice colour, I guess they are okay but at night, I have when their eyes turn a orange colour. it's just freaky. To be honest, I wouldn't be suprised if cats ruled the world in the future." I say and Luke let's out another laugh.

"I cant believe your dissing cats. I pray for you, young lady." Luke says, with a smile and I roll my eyes.

"Well, I just did." I say and Luke grins at me.

"What else can I know about you?" Luke asks and I shrug.

"Okay, this is a little embarrassing but when I was younger, I used to be think that the stars were actually cannonballs that were shot into the sky by circus men." I say and Luke stares at me for a second before bursting out in laughter.

"Oh my god, really?" Luke asks and I nod.

"Dead serious." I say, staring down at Luke's shaking figure and when he notices me staring at him, he stops laughing and sits up, staring at me carefully.

"Tell me more." He says, his voice coming out at a whisper.

"I like cheese." I say and Luke nods, motioning me to continue.

"I like the colour yellow."

"What else do you like?" Luke asks and I gulp when his face comes incredibly close to mine. Our noses touch and I set aside my sandwich that is on my lap and stare into Luke's blue eyes.

"You." I whisper and Luke's lips tilt into a small smile.

"Likewise." He whispers before connecting his lips with mine. I immediately close my eyes and let my arms go around his neck for support as he gently pushes me down on the grass.

"I like you a lot." Luke whispers before deepening the kiss, making my heart flutter.

He likes me a lot and the special thing about it all is that I think I like him a lot too.

Actually, scratch that last bit.

I know I like him a lot.
