《The Princess' Messenger》Part 13

Jimin stayed at the island. Jungkook and Taehyung got onto the boat. Mina was in charge of taking care of them. "The sea looks rough '', she gulped a bit. "Don't worry, your Highness. I will make sure that you will reach safely, no matter what", she said.
She prayed to the sea goddess. "As expected, you care only about him", Jungkook scoffed. She glared at him. Taehyung and Jungkook became close. For some reason, Taehyung loves Jungkook a lot.
Taehyung chuckled at Jungkook's comment. "We are together. She will take care of you as well", he said. "She would even sacrifice me to the sea goddess", he said. "I will if you keep talking nonsense", she said.
"Finally, your true self is coming out. She is such an actress, your Highness. If you are going to sleep, sleep carefully. She might swallow us alive", he mocked her. He was having fun while embarrassing her. Taehyung smiled and laughed.
But there was an uneasiness between them. "Stop talking and help me row the boat, will you?" she said to him. "Fine fine, your Highness", Jungkook chuckled. Taehyung and Jungkook had a lot to talk about. Taehyung was impressed by Jungkook's step by step growth in the military base and his life.
Jungkook also liked how Taehyung tries to be independent and achieve something rather than enjoying the palace life. "Ambition and passion run in their blood", he thought to himself. Mina was quite thankful as Jungkook was with them.
If they had to travel alone then it would be a mess. She kept analysing her relationship with Taehyung. The sea started to act. They could control if it's a ship but it's almost hopeless in a boat.
"Do you know how to swim?" Mina asked Jungkook. "I don't think I can swim in the sea", he gulped. She sighed, mockingly. "Yah! Don't play", he was terrified. "Don't worry, Jungkook. I will save you", Taehyung assured him.
Soon, it started to rain. They kept draining the water to the maximum so that the boat wouldn't sink in. "Why did we even get into this mess?" Jungkook panicked. The rain seemed to slow down. "We will reach soon", Mina said.
Taehyung coughed a bit and soon he was so tired. "Are you sick, your Highness?" Jungkook asked, worried. He shook his head but he started to shiver. "There is no dry piece of cloth", she panicked. She rummaged through the safety box and found some medicines in the bottle.

"Drink this, your Highness", she gave him. "I am fine", he assured. "You are going pale. Please have this. We will reach the land soon", she said. She was so scared. She cared deeply.
Jungkook just quietly helped her. Soon, due to medicine, he fell asleep on her lap. Her heart almost jumped out. Jungkook quietly rowed the boat. "Don't tell him that he slept like this when we reach the land", she said.
"Why? Didn't you want something like this to happen?" Jungkook asked. "I will treat this as a dream", she said. "Are you scared that the Princess will oppose?" he asked. She shook her head. "I am no match for him. He is just curious.
I have no will to engage with the royal family", she said. "What if he asks you? What if he doesn't want to lose you?" Jungkook asked. "I will reject it", she bit her lips. "The love I have for him is something common, just like those girls", she said.
Jungkook just smiled at her. "You don't want him to get hurt while fighting for you, do you?" he asked. She was quite shocked as he found the truth. "Once I leave him, I will go back to my place", she said.
In between this chaos, general Lee sent the troop through a ship to bring Taehyung. Instead, they met Jimin. Jimin lied that he was also in search of Taehyung. All they could do was bring Jimin but they found out about Taehyung's departure.
As they couldn't find the boat they were confused. But they found a distorted boat floating on the sea. Jimin couldn't avoid thinking about the worst possible scenario. Still, the news was reported. The news spread like a wildfire.
' Prince Taehyung tried to escape with Jungkook and it's suspected that they might have been seriously injured or even passed away as the storm hit the boat, only the boat's remains were found.' The King's heart shattered into pieces, while Namjoon almost collapsed.
He can never lose his precious brother. Yuri fainted the moment she heard the news. You had a tiny hope. You know that Mina is a skilled person. You still decided to continue your journey. Generals panicked.
They didn't want this to happen. General Lee's brother was furious. "I told you not to listen to Chang Mi. Min-hyuk, at least you should have stopped her. Look where she leads us now", he confronted. Jimin excused himself and he also decided to reach the monk's temple.

He believed that by the time they found the boat, they should have crossed almost half or more than half of the sea. This should be some other boat. You and Jimin were rushing towards the eastern sea. The search and rescue process was in full swing.
Thankfully, Taehyung reached the monk's place safely. Jungkook explained that they should keep this confidential. He was trying to find a way to send a message to you. Taehyung's condition was pretty bad. He was in treatment.
"Shall I go after he recovers?" Mina asked. "It's up to you", he smiled. Jimin reached the place first. He saw Mina walking around the streets. He couldn't call her and create attention.
When she was walking along the alley, he pulled her into an alley and covered her mouth with his hands. She struggled a bit. "It's me, Jimin '', he whispered. She relaxed. "Why would you do that?" she asked. "I don't think it's safe to talk about everything in public. King's men might be around", he said.
"How are they? Are they okay?" he asked. She nodded. "Prince is sick but he will recover soon. Jungkook is taking care of him", she said. "Take me there", he said. Both of them reached the monk's temple. "Jungkook ah, thank god, you are fine", he hugged him.
"I heard the news. The royal family would be in worry", Jungkook said. "Don't worry. Y/n is on the way. She doesn't know yet about your arrival but still, she is coming here", he said. "Where is Taehyung?" he asked.
"He is taking rest", Jungkook replied. "Thankfully, you all are safe", Jimin muttered. "Why is she acting weird? She would always fly around Taehyung?" he asked Jungkook. They saw Mina walking in the garden without any motive.
Jungkook sighed and shook his head. "Something happened between the Prince and her. They both are like this around each other. She says that she likes him only because he is a Prince and he is popular '', he said. Jimin was also surprised.
"I think that she didn't want the Prince to fight for her with his family or something like that", Jungkook said. Jimin sighed. "She behaves like a spoiled kid but she is pure", Jimin said. Jungkook agreed. "I wonder if Yuri is alright '', Jimin said.
"I heard that she collapsed when she heard the news", Jimin said. Jungkook worried about her as well. He knew how weak-hearted she was. "Will Yuri be able to handle the palace affairs in case she gets married to our Prince?" Jungkook asked.
"Mina can't even survive inside the palace with her attitude, while Yuri will at least survive and adjust", he replied. "I wonder whom our Prince will choose, Jungkook said. "I wonder how y/n will react", Jimin said.
"Uhm, why is the Princess not married yet? I mean I have never seen an unmarried Princess in her age", Jungkook said. "She was about to get married, that's when she brainwashed Min Hyuk to marry Chang Mi", Jimin said.
"The generals badly wanted to marry her off to their son but Y/n didn't like him. She rejected him but the political pressure was on her. God knows what she did to Min Hyuk, he even threw a tantrum that he would marry only Chang Mi '', Jimin said.
"There are so many Princes who are waiting to grab a chance to marry her but she refuses every time. But, right after the coronation ceremony, she will get married to someone", Jimin said. Jungkook's heart clenched a bit. He didn't even express his feelings yet.
He looked at Mina. "It's better to love her from afar just like Mina", he thought. "Y/n is here", Jimin announced. Jungkook came to meet you. You were waiting in a room. Your heartbeats rose to the peak and calmed down once you saw Jungkook.
"Princess", he called you. Blood rushed into your body. You walked towards him and hugged him tightly. "Thank you for being safe and bringing him safely", you said. Jungkook thought that he would freeze then and there.

The Glyph Queen
When Winnie was thirteen, her settlement taught her how to fire a rifle. Her school practiced drills in case raiders came, and the town grew crops in their greenhouse-adapted homes, which were the only places warm enough during the worldwide nuclear winter. Three years of occupation later, an exemplar visits—a member of Victoria’s oversight committee rumored to read minds. He tells Winnie that she may have a unique mental power, or a flair. At the empire’s capital, the queen herself tutors Winnie to help her reach the full potential of whatever power she may have. Meanwhile, in post-war Nigeria, a streetwise teenager named Naema sees a different side of the empire. Between corruption and oppression, everyone lives in squaller. People fight over assembled food pastes. She too is told she has a unique flair, not by the empire, but by a fugitive woman who is the last vestige of an ancient witch coven, and she knows a dark secret about what the exemplars do to people like Winnie and Naema. Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
