《The Princess' Messenger》Part 5

The next morning, you woke up early and got ready. The maids prepared a bath. You freshen up early so that you can visit the temple with Yuri. You were greeted by the priest. Everyone kindly asked you about your health and the King.

You replied calmly to everyone. Some even gave you flowers and you spent your time and came back. Your mind was peaceful until you saw Jungkook doing his morning practice.

He was practising sword fighting. You saw it from your bedroom window. You were resting your arms and your hands were holding your cheeks. It's not something new.

You have always witnessed these scenes from your childhood but it was different now. He briefly made eye contact with you. His instincts would have told him that he was being watched. You immediately straighten your position.

You were slightly embarrassed for getting caught. Once the practice was over he looked in your direction and greeted you. You smiled and nodded. After finishing your breakfast, you were waiting for Jungkook to accompany you.

Once he came, you went to visit some of the important officials' houses. You differentiated the officers on your side Vs the generals' side. Those who were not so loyal to the King were shaking or trying hard to be normal with you.

For someone, who grew up in the palace not just playing around with women or being ignored just because of being a girl but witnessed the court scenes, dealing with studies, witnessed how her father deals with the ministers it was easy to read people. You visited everyone just for showing respect but the palace was startled a bit.

They refused to believe that you were just visiting them without a motive. "I will visit my parents and get back. I feel a bit suffocated staying inside the house. I am thinking of visiting the marketplace", you said to Jungkook.

"Sure Princess", he said. You sent Yuri with other Princesses as she wasn't interested in politics. You were not used to this dry place. You always lived among the lakes, forests and rivers.

The capital was noisy and dry. You were returning to the house. "Do you have something to do?" you asked him. It was almost evening. "No Princess", he shook his head.

"Can you take me to the temple near the river?" you asked him. He immediately asked the guards to get ready. With a minimum number of guards, you exited the palace. After finishing the prayers you sat down watching the river flowing.

The guards stopped a bit far away from you to give you privacy. Jungkook came with some sweets which he got from the priest. He gave you some. You gestured to him to sit down. "Princess", he hesitated a bit.

"What?!" you asked him. "How can I?" he thought about his rank and class. "Do you think that I will treat you like a servant? You are my guest. Sit down", you said, sternly. He sat leaving a gap.

"I know that you and my brother are close and he must think of you as his best friend. Even though you are here doing some stuff for me, doesn't mean that I will look down at you. You are a commander after all", you said.

"Thank you, Princess. I was always treated harshly, so I am not used to it", he said. "I doubt that", you chuckled. "Tell me about you and your family", you said.

"My grandfather lost the kingdom to another King. I was brought up in a normal household but my parents passed away soon. I was raised by your maternal grandfather. I got trained there and after that, I met our Crown prince.

We both became close after that", he said. "Oh! You had a rough childhood", you muttered. "It's okay, I am good now", he smiled.

"Has my brother ever talked about us? Does he even think about us?" you asked him. "He always talked a lot about both of you, Princess. Even though I know you in person recently, I have always heard about you while your grandfather and he talk a lot about you", he said. "Right from the childhood memories till he came there, they would talk a lot. I would always listen to them. He praises you a lot.

For your information, your brother likes you the most between you and the other Prince", he chuckled. You smiled calmly, still looking at the running water. "It might be a pity, Taehyung got a lot of attention for his charms.

Most of the time, it was Namjoon who stayed by my side", you said. "If he pitied you, he wouldn't be praising you, care for you and most importantly he wouldn't keep telling you that you could be the rightful owner of the throne", he said the last part in a low voice.

So that others wouldn't misunderstand. You smiled looking at him. "Hope he comes soon", you said. "He will come soon", Jungkook said.

"Uhm... Princess, actually while I was travelling I saw certain weird stuff but I thought that they are not important. But after reaching here, I think there is some connection", he said.

"What is it?" you asked him. "I happened to stay in my friend's palace. He is Prince Min Jin ki. "There was a festival happening so a lot of people came and went. I thought it's normal as there would be a lot of officials visiting.

But, I feel like it's Chang Mi's husband and her father in law. They came unannounced. They left secretly. "That is where I met Jimin. I found him in that town", he said. "Are you sure that those people are them?" you asked him.

"I don't know Princess, they are too similar to be just a coincidence. I guess it's them. Also, Jin ki was not so happy about my arrival. He was stressed and he kept pushing me away.

So I had to leave the next morning, right after spending my night there", Jungkook said. You thought about it silently. "If it's them, then your friend is their another acquaintance. They are gathering support against my brother", you said.

"Princess, it's almost time for the closing of palace gates. Should we go?" a guard asked you. You agreed. "Thanks for telling me", you said. "It's my duty, Princess", he said. Later that day, you had your dinner and were talking to Yuri.

She was talking about her evening and a new hobby she picked up. The cold breeze hit you and the house looked aesthetic with all those lamps lit on every floor.

You never missed a chance to steal a glance whenever Jungkook walked past or did something. "We should sleep", you said. "Yes, Princess", she answered. You went and lied down. You couldn't sleep for some reason.

Among all the other thoughts, a special feeling was building inside you. You even smiled looking at the ceiling. After tossing and turning you finally slept. "Princess! Princess!" Yuri's voice echoed through the hallway.

You immediately woke up and rushed towards the voice. It was dawn. "What happened?" you asked her. A guard also rushed. "Jungkook is missing. It looks like he was forcefully taken away", he panted.

"What the hell! What were the guards doing? How come someone enters without being noticed?" you roared. Two of our main guards fainted and the reason is unknown. "Jimin sent some men in search of him", Yuri said.

"Go and find him as soon as possible", you sent the guard away. "Princess, calm down. He couldn't have gone out of the palace. They will find him soon", Yuri said.

"Where are you, Jungkook?" you murmured while trying to control your uneven breathing. Still, your chest went up and down exposing your nervousness. "It should have been me. Why Jungkook?!"
