《Hurts So Good》Chapter 28 | One Chance

Did you love me for even a second? Was there a second where what all you said was true? A single thing? A single word?

Every fucking word was true, Farren. Every single word, every single second, every touch, every kiss. I love you.

Tears dripped down my eyes as I threw consecutive punches on the punching bag.

It's my mistake. I should have told her the truth, told her everything and what would be happening in the future. Should have warned her that whatever Hector would tell you, whatever my behaviour would be, it will be nothing but an act. My love for you is real and it always will be.

I want her back. I want to turn back time and mend every mistake and wipe away every doubt from her.

"Sir. Please stop, you are hurting yourself." Marcus, my second in command since Hector is locked away, spoke up.

I didn't pay attention to him. My eyes burnt with tears and my hand ached with so much movement.

"Did she reach home safely?" I asked, throwing another punch to the bag.

"Yes. She took a cab to her apartment."

I didn't reply. Her apartment? I thought she would go to her father, tell him everything.

"Sir, stop. Your knuckles are bleeding."

I kept punching the bag untill it came off his hook and fell down on the floor with a heavy thud.

Panting, I stared down at the floor. "Take someone with you, look over her discreetly from today onwards, make sure she is safe from all harm."

And I glanced up at him. "She is your fucking queen. Protect her with your life."

He nodded curtly. "Yes, sir." And then he walked out of there, ready to follow my orders.

A drop of blood fell down on the floor making me divert my attention to my knuckles which were now bleeding. Her tears hurt me fucking more than this.

A sob wracked through me and I fell down on my knees, my body trembling with emotions. How am I supposed to make her believe that I do love her? She doesn't even want to see me now let alone listen to me.

I don't know for how long I remained like that on my knees, crying. When I got up, my body felt sore and it ached but not more than my heart.

I went upstairs to my childhood room and took a shower and changed into some fresh clothes and grabbing my car keys, I went out to my car.

It took me half an hour to reach her house and parking my car outside, I went up to the front door and rang the bell.

Mom opened the door was surprised to see me standing there and seeing her, once again, tears made their way out of my eyes and I hugged her tightly, sobbing in her embrace.

"What's wrong? Why are you crying? And where's Farren?" I cried harder when I heard her ask about Farren.

A few minutes later I found myself laying on the bed with my head in her lap as she gently stroked my hair after I had told her everything. Each and everything.

"Hector was always jealous of you. From the moment you were born, I could see it in his eyes."

"I lost her, mom..." I whispered gloomily. "She hates me now."

"So go make her love you again."

I shut my eyes firmly. "How can I do that? I am so clueless right now."

"Do you love her?"

"More than anything."

"And I am sure she loves you too, Elysian. I have seen the way she looks at you, she truly loves you. And love isn't that weak...yes, she is angry with you and she might have said that she hates you but I don't think so she really means that. Give her some space and beg her if you have to, beg her for forgiveness and keep reminding her that you love her. Don't give up."

"I would be damned if I ever give up on her."

"So, now stop crying and get to work." And she bent down and pressed a kiss to my forehead.

I inhaled deeply and stayed like that for another minute before finally getting and I kissed her cheek before leaving.

According to Marcus she was about to reach her office so with a bouquet of white roses, I stood outside her office waiting for her.

I waited for her and when I finally saw her walking towards me my breath hitched, she looked pale with her eyes puffy and red and my heart clenched knowing I was the reason for that.

She didn't see me untill she reached the doors and I called her, "Farren?"

She froze in her place and glanced up at me, her jaw clenching. Before I could even give her the flowers, she walked away.

I didn't call after her knowing she won't listen to me so with a defeated sigh I was about to leave when I saw Nora.

And when she saw me, she gave me a deadly glare. "What are you doing here?"

"Nora, can you please give this to Farren?" I pleaded.

She folded her arms across her chest. "After what all you did to her to her do you think she even want to see you?"

"Please...I love her, I really do."

She rolled her eyes and scoffing, even she went inside.

Fuck.

Sighing I walked back to my car and placed my head on the steering wheel in defeat.

In the evening, once again I waited for her and when she came out, she ignored me completely and went away.

I followed her to her car. "Farren, please...listen to me. I love you."

Ignoring me she opened her car door and slid inside and slammed it shut and drove away.

I didn't give up. Not yet. Not ever. She is worth waiting for years.

So the next day, I again waited for with another bouquet this time.

"Babe..." I said softly when she neared me. "Please give me another chance. Please, I love you."

Nora and Zeke was with her this time and everyone just ignored me and they walked past me.

I have to try harder.

I again waited for her in the evening and she again ignored me.

The next day, Nora accompanied and I again stood there with a bouquet of dandelions this time and a note along with it that said: I am so sorry. I love you, please give me another chance.

"Farren..." I begged. "One chance, please. I am so sorry."

She ignored me as usual, a neutral expression on her face but this time, Nora glanced at me with pity in her eyes and she waited for Farren to go inside before coming closer to me.

She gestured to the bouquet. "I'll give it to her."

I handed the bouquet to her, my eyes on Farren's retreating figure. "Thank you."

She nodded and went inside and I felt a glimmer of hope inside me.

"Did she read my note yesterday?" I asked Nora the next morning after Farren ignored me once again.

She sighed and glanced at Farren who went inside. "She did. And then she left the bouquet in the office only before leaving."

"Oh..." I whispered. "She really hates me, doesn't she?"

She placed her palm on my bicep. "Look, she might hate you right now but you need to keep trying, okay? Don't give up."

I nodded. "I am not giving up."

She patted my arm. "Good. I know she is going to melt sooner or later. But I swear to God if you hurt her ever again I will chop off your head and then serve it to her on a golden platter."

Oh. Damn. I gulped and nodded. "I promise I won't hurt her ever again."

She gave me a smile before leaving.

After a few days of sending the bouquet through Nora, I started to leave it on the hood of her car instead around when she leaves the office.

On day first of doing that, I stayed hidden behind a car and watched as she picked up the bouquet and read the note on which I keep writing the same thing over and over again, asking her for another chance. And she kept the bouquet down in the parking and drove away, leaving it there.

She never takes them back home.

This continued for almost a week, she always leaves the bouquet in the parking.

But I never gave up.

Once again I watched as she picked up the flowers and read the note and sighed deeply.

She is going to leave it again.

But much to my surprise, she looked up and glanced around the parking lot as if looking for me and when she didn't find me, she took the bouquet with her and sat inside her car making my heart skip a beat.

That's a progress.

And I fist bumped the air in excitement. I know I have still to go a long way but still that's a progress.

And from everyday since then, she took the bouquets with her home so I slowly started adding a few more things to it like chocolates and candies.

But one day instead of leaving the flowers on top of car, I stood there with them in my hands and waited for her.

She was wearing a long overcoat with her hands stuffed inside its pockets and she halted when she saw me there.

I slowly extended the bouquet to her and she glanced back and forth between me and the flowers and her jaw clenched.

She didn't take them and proceeded to unlock her car and I grabbed the door as she opened it. "Babe? Please. I am sorry."

Tears welled up in her eyes and her eyes snapped to me and she gave me a glare making me step back and without taking the flowers, she drove away from there.
