《Sonata Jackson: The journey of a female soldier》Chapter Twenty-four: Still in the jungle

The following day
Sonata and Sgt Mitchell were in bamboo cages half way underwater. The two were taken out and dragged to a big area and forced to sit at a table and play Russian Roulette.
Sgt Mitchell grabbed the revolver and he shot one and another before quickly tackling one and taking his AK-47 and fired with Sonata taking the same route but picked up a shotgun instead.
The two fought their way out and Sgt Mitchell gave Sonata a boost up and she pulled him up.
The two got out but it was mid-afternoon judging by the sun's position but they noticed more VC and they took them out but decided to steel a Mi-24.
"You know how to fly?" Asked Sonata
Sgt Mitchell replied, "Not entirely. Do you?"
"Not entirely," said Sonata
Sgt Mitchell got in the pilot's seat and Sonata got behind him in the co-pilot's seat.
After pressing some buttons and accidentally launching a rocket that blew up a tent Sgt Mitchell was able to get it airborne and gave the controls over to Sonata.
"You're flying this bird," said Mitchell, "And do both of us a favor and don't crash or fly too low where we'll both die!"
Sonata replied, "I'm not planning on getting us both killed! You I don't know. But I'm planning on becoming a mother one day! Kinda hard to be a mother if you're dead!"
"Okay then," said Sgt Mitchell
The two flew in the stolen Soviet helicopter and they destroyed many enemy instillations below and kept flying.
"Hey Sergeant," said Sonata, "When you become eighteen. What do you want to become?"
Sgt Mitchell replied truthfully, "A Policeman. But the CLPD Uniform is a white collared shirt, black full Windsor tie, dark navy blue suit jacket, dark navy blue trousers, and a dark navy blue police cap. But yeah I want to be a policeman. Why what do you want to do besides being a soldier?"
"Honestly I never thought of that!" said Sonata, "Honestly I don't know. Maybe a clerical. Something I know what I'm going to do but have a work-life balance. Also you kinda look like someone who's famous,"
Sgt Mitchell replied, "My cousin Cassidy Reuben says that I somewhat look like Bing Crosby. But that what she says,"
"Who's Cassidy Reuben?" Asked Sonata
Sgt Mitchell replied, "My cousin. She's a USMC Scout Sniper. Nice woman unless if you're in her sights of her sniper rifle than she'll kill you,"

They kept on flying but soon saw a clearing so they landed and got out.

Back on the ground
The two kept going and engaged more VC and entered a cave which been fortified.
They kept at it but they heard banging on the doors and Sonata pressed a button and the doors opened and it was the Assault Team, and Machine Gun Anti-Armor team where they were captured and placed in there.
All but PFC Mackenzie Rose we're able to get Soviet made weapons like the SKS, RPD, and Mosin-Nagant. They also captured French weapons like the MAT-49, and MAS-36 rifles, also some captured American weapons like the M3A1 Grease Gun.
They fought but as Sgt Mitchell used a steel door for cover but he heard crying so he looked behind him and saw PFC Mackenzie Rose sitting there in a ball crying.
Sonata came over and used the same door and heard PFC Mackenzie crying.
"What's wrong with her?" Asked Sonata
Sgt Mitchell replied, "I don't know! I just found her like this!"
Sonata did what she could of having a girl on girl chat. Private First Class Mackenzie Rose didn't really want to chat.
"Listen to me Mackenzie," said Sgt Mitchell, "You're a very strong, independent teenage girl!"
Sonata replied, "Come on. Get on your feet! We need you in the fight!"
PFC Mackenzie Rose didn't want to until Sgt Mitchell did what he never thought he would have to do and that was he placed Mackenzie Rose on her feet and slapped her and that worked.
"Okay 'Patton' what you going to do?" Said Sonata
Sgt Mitchell replied, "Haha it's not like that innocent back on August 1943. We need every soldier in this fight!"
PFC Mackenzie Rose soon came to her senses and gave Sgt Mitchell a bear hug.
Sonata then saw soldiers in dark olive green uniforms and with either dark olive green helmets or boonie hats.
It was friendly reinforcements that were never asked for and it was a small strike force lead by Major Waterson and a three man team.
Doesn't surprise me they're using foreign weapons, Sonata thought, But when you do operate behind enemy lines you do got to do to survive.
They helped the squad and Sonata and they pushed deeper clearing it out.

Half an hour later
On a UH-81 "Stealth Hawk"
"Can't wait until we get out of here," said Sonata
Soon Major Waterson came and he gave them their weapons back.

"Cool a samurai sword!" Said Sonata
Sgt Mitchell replied, "No it's actually my family's short sword. Been in my family since the 12th century in Germania!"
"Can I hold it?" Asked Sonata
Sgt Mitchell replied, "Don't cut yourself,"
Sgt Mitchell handed Sonata his family sword and she held it for awhile but gave it back.
"Hey cousin good wo..." Said Major Waterson before getting killed by a sniper

Charlie Base
SSgt Paul was walking around until Sgt Sonata walked right up to her brother and decked him right in the face.
"That's for leaving us behind!" Said Sonata
Sonata then saw Sgt Mitchell go into a barracks and she entered to talk to him.
***
A full hour passed
Sonata walked out of the barracks tucking her shirt back into her pants.
"So did you do what you wanted to do?" Said Staff Sergeant Paul, "You know what I'm talking about,"
Sonata replied, "I just had a chat with Sgt Mitchell and that was it. Whatever you think I did didn't happen,"
Paul didn't believe her but didn't call her out on it because he wasn't there and had to take his sister's word for it. Until he went into the barracks himself and asked Sgt Mitchell and he told him what Sonata told him.
Paul didn't believe it but he had no grounds to say something because what they said or did was better a fifteen-year-old teenager male and a twenty-eight-year-old woman. Paul also knows that their isn't a law preventing two people of different ages from socializing.
Paul then left Charlie Base and headed somewhere else but left Sonata behind.
Sgt Mitchell and his squad hitched a ride on a P-113 and went to the Bình Phước province.
"I have a feeling that there is something wrong with this war," said Sgt Mitchell
Sonata replied, "Every war is like that,"
"Yeah but if the Neptune was sunk off the Sparity island but it has military buildings from Malaysia, Taiwan, China, the Philippines or Vietnam. Honestly no one really owns that island." Said Sgt Mitchell, "Heck the Soviets could've done it instead and blamed the Vietnamese instead,"
Sonata replied, "That could be a possibility. But we can't look back on the past with 'what if's' Sergeant,"
The two kept talking about it but the two respected each other's opinions.
***
After awhile the P-113 landed and they got out.
"I guess this is where we part ways Sergeant," said Sonata
Sgt Mitchell replied, "I guess so too."
Fireteam Harmony got out first then Sonata until a woman ran up and threw a leaf hat into the helicopter blowing it up and the shockwave knocked them all down.
Sonata then went to go look for her older brother but couldn't find her so she asked a marine officer and he told her that he was here then he took a C-181 and went up north to Hue.
Sonata then went up north but she noticed Fireteam Harmony wasn't where they were and she assumed they went back to Charlie Base.
***
Hue
In the city of Hue. Sonata had her rifle in tow bit she mostly stayed in the buildings. She doesn't know if Fireteam Harmony is here in the city or not.
After a few minutes. In a building Sonata saw the Assault Team of Fireteam Harmony getting ready to assault a building and saw that PFC Mackenzie Rose finally snapped out of whatever happened to her.
"Assault Team go!" Ordered Sgt Mitchell
Private Chester Philips, Private James Falsworth, and Private Gabe Jones. They ran across the street and stormed a building across the street.
"Fancy meeting you here Sarge," said Sgt Mitchell
Sonata replied, "Have any of you seen my brother Paul?"
Sgt Mitchell took Sgt Sonata to the command post and Sonata's brother Paul was at a table moving pieces on a board.
The Little Bird Marines always putting themselves in danger! Sonata thought, Mid 1942 the LBMC launched a Naval invasion on the island of Hainan and took it from the Japanese!
"Paul, shouldn't we be heading home?" Asked Sonata
Paul replied, "You should. But me? No,"
Sonata then looked at the board which has toy army men with green respresenting the LBMC and the red PAVN.
These "Marines" are a very tough bunch if only half of what I've heard is true, Sonata thought, They gave the Germans a run for their money in both World Wars, they have the Japanese a run for their money in the Second World War, they gave the Italians a run for their money in WW2, They gave the commies a run for their money in Korea twice, Vietnam both then and now and the Warsaw Pact in '99-2000.
Paul ordered her sister out of there and placed her onto another helicopter that headed to Delta Base and on a plane back to Little Bird.

Sexy Sect Babes
“One in a billion.” Jack kept repeating the mantra in his head. “One in a billion.” That was the number the Omni-Corps liked to cite whenever someone stepped onto one trans-mat pad and then simply… never stepped off the other. “Safer than a car,” he repeated as he slogged through the snow, his mining overalls doing at least a passable job of keeping out the cold as he brushed aside a tree branch. “Safer than a plane. Or a starship. Safest form of transport in the Star League.” He slammed his fist into a nearby tree, exo-empowered strength shattering it into little more than scattered bark and kindling. “Yeah, well I never heard of a car ride stranding some prick in another dimension!” He roared, his voice echoing through the seemingly endless forest around him. Then he kept marching. He’d seen the fire off in the distance. And given all the snow around, he sincerely doubted it was natural. Which left the unnatural. Which meant people. He hoped. Because even if the trans-mat had screwed up, he doubted it had dumped him too far off the central finite curve. The fact that the air was breathable and that he could recognize the trees around him as oak told him that much. And if the dimension he was in had trees native to Earth, chances are it would have animals too. Of which humans would hopefully be no exception. “Because I’ll be damned if I spend the rest of my days talking to goddamn squirrels.” No, if there were humans on this mudball, he was going to find them. One way or another.
