《Paradox》Step 4: Treatment
Advertisement
What? You made it this far?
So... you've became what you wanted to be.
Paradox.
Was it worth it?
Infinite time... infinite isolation.
An eternal hell...
Well... that's all behind you now.
In fact, you feel quite good.
It is like escaping from prison.
You tried everything to become free
But once you actually got out.
You really didn't think you'd make it this far.
At least, that's how it was for me.
The structure of your brain is now quite different compared to a neurotypical.
You'd think all that time spent doing the same thing over and over would be beneficial to the brain
I'm joking of course, it is not.
Your brain will experience surface contraction (Areas of your brain will have shrunk).
You'll also be high on your own supply (Your receptors will be firing off crazily from the thrill of being free).
If you stay in this state for too long, you will no doubt die.
Your brain... not being limited by physical factors...
It will more so match that of someone with schizophrenia.
Your episodic memory, declarative memory, and working memory are now modified.
It isn't a good modification either.
You'll be receiving data from all the versions of yourself that never left the loop.
You'll also be receiving data from the abyss.
Signals from other universes.
As well as information from your basic senses which will be overwhelming.
Now things start to get a bit grim.
If you thought what you just accomplished was hard... well the, you have not experienced 13 days of infinite time.
That's right! You'll be going into a bigger loop.
This time, something critical is happening.
You won't be alone.
Your body has already crossed over to a new universe
You have found a new 'home'.
You can pretty easily find another universe whenever you wish
But that is only when you are insane.
The core to being a Paradox is not extreme insanity.
It is sanity to an insane degree.
I call it extreme sanity.

To achieve this, you'll need the help of some antipsychotics.
Once you become sane.
You will lose the ability to hop from one universe to the next on command.
But you will be able to fully utilize your plot armor.
This is partially due to the receptors in your brain correcting themselves.
See... how you interact with others in this new loop is quite important.
You won't remember exactly the process of how you got here.
Your body is acting on its own.
It is almost as if you have no control.
Because in reality... you do not have any control
Every action in the universe is the result of another action
Every thought you've had, every moment you've experienced.
It is predetermined
But you are now an outlier
You exist outside both your birth and death.
The universe cannot predict your movements.
This doesn't make you some god
A single bullet can still cripple you for life.
But this does make it so that you can see the moments you are in control and the moments that the universe is forcing you to do something.
So what exactly is the universe suppose to do to someone it cannot control?
Well invalidate their experience.
Lock them up.
Paradox?
That is merely you being delusional.
Being in a time loop?
That is Hallucination.
You will quickly find yourself in a mental hospital (From the mad behavior and ravings).
With a diagnosis of 'Brief Psychotic Break'
You'll also find that your memories are mixed up.
Since the universe can no longer 'reset' or 'erase' you.
It will attack everything that you believe.
It will mess with your memories.
What watch were you wearing when they drove you to the hospital?
Did the cop give you food; did you eat it?
Have you already been here before?
Why did they take everything away but your watch?
You will be brought in to a hospital initially.
They will question you.
"How long do you sleep at night?"
"When was the last time you slept?"
"What is your name?"
"What is the date?"
"Who is the president?"
That is when the realization will hit you.
My name?
It was... it was... what was it?
The date?
It's march 23rd.
"No it is not, today is april 1st"
April fools! Muhahahahha.
That can't be right.
Since when did time matter?
You remember the time... because it is something you must always pay attention to.
See... there will always be a way for you to tell the time.
The room you're in in the hospital has a clock on the wall.
You have gained an ability I have not mentioned.
Well, one I mentioned earlier.
Due to you escaping the loop you have acquired something I call 'plot armor'
No matter what you do.
No matter what you forget
No matter what the universe does to you.
You will survive.
If it is impossible to survive.
You may die.
You will restart at the moment you read step 1.
You will forever and always be and become a Paradox.
It is too late for regrets.
This is the path you chose for yourself.
Once you are admitted to a mental hospital
They will test various drugs on you.
For me, the most effective drug was in the form of monthly shot.
400 mg of Abilify Maintena.
As well as daily consumption of clozapine and depakote.
It is quite interesting being with others in a loop.
From April 1st to April 13th.
You will need to be 'released'.
See, before you were just trapped in a loop.
Now you are involuntarily committed to a ward.
The only way out, is to get the doctors approval.
Something quite terrifying is going to happen in this place.
Everytime you fail to be released.
You will experience a different version of reality.
In some realities the doctors will be quite confused by the measurements your body gave off.
You will become a sort of experiment...
In some realities, they genuinely want to help you.
You will die in many different ways in this hospital
Sometimes from a heart attack due to the medication (low chance of happening, but when you spend so much time, it becomes guaranteed to happen).
To be released, you will need to participate in the group meetings.
Discussing your experiences should help you realize what is real and what is fake.
You will follow their treatment plan.
The reason the universe led you here wasn't to have you trapped forever.
It was to instill some fear inside you.
It wants you to have the thought in the back of your head that
"If I don't play along to the game that is this universe... I'll end up in a hospital again."
Once you have proven that you are not a threat to yourself and others.
You will have found what I call 'peace'.
You must go from insanity to acceptance and peace.
If you can do that after an eternity alone... you will have a bright future ahead of you.
Being sane dulls a lot of the information you were getting from the hivemind.
A few days after the injection, you'll began to feel 'normal'.
Once you have gotten all benefits and experiences you can get in the 13 days of infinite time.
It is time to leave.
You may think to yourself... what was the point of going through all that pain and suffering?
Well... you beat the universe.
When the universe resets...
When you die.
You will be there.
You will come back.
Forever eternal.
Sometimes you become crippled for life.
Sometimes you go blind or deaf.
Sometimes you rot in prison.
Sometimes you get locked up in a asylum.
Because of 'Becoming Paradox'.
Even if it is a delusion.
You have acquired the most powerful ability in the universe.
'Plot Armor'.
You don't need the universe anymore.
But the universe most certainly needs you.

Trapped in a world not my own. Facing a destiny never meant to pass. Dealing with a hero doomed to defeat. Which will end first, this world or my life? 8 186Rise of Toki
From a common worm to human to a dragon, they have a gem embedded in their bodies since birth. These gems contained the skills of that specimen for it to grow and mature. The more skills one obtains, the stronger they become, the more evolutionary options they open. Then their powers would be passed down to their children to unlock. This is a story about a little tortoise rising up against ... the world! Maybe not. It all started out when this little tortoise sought out to find her little sister in a big world. My attempt to draw the main characters.
8 202The Destiny Detour
In a kingdom putting together the pieces after a series of devastating magical wars, trouble is brewing. At least that's what the Seer's vague warning to Princess Lillya claims. That warning sends young Sorceress Rosaliy and enigmatic ruffian Drake from one end of the world to the other searching for answers (and lost magical children). The Destiny Detour is third in the Black Pearl Series, but the events of this story occur 10 years after the first two, and it focuses on different characters in the world. It should be able to stand alone. If you are interested, the beginning of the series is available on Amazon and most e-book places: https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B01AYLLKK8
8 161Tironia
Reincarnated on the world of Tironia, I find myself naked and alone. Apart from the fact that I've been linked with a less than helpful companion, through my own doing no less. All I want is a kick-ass name and some super-sweet magic. "Is that too much to ask for?" Apparently so. All I got, was a schizophrenic sidekick and a set of bad jokes. "Is it time to start shitting my pants yet?" Note: If you enjoy my first novel, please leave a rating or a comment. Constructive criticism is also appreciated. As of now Tironia is complete. I need to edit the chapters however as there are many, many mistakes. Once that's complete, I will begin work on Erins next adventure: Dungeon Igo. Current Chapter Rewritten: 1

He takes my hand off of his face and places a kiss to my palm before resting it on his chest, covering it with both of his larger hands."Really?" He asks hopefully. I give him another wide smile. Before I narrow my eyes and scowl at him, ripping my hand away from him. His brows furrow in confusion as I take a step back."No."Cover made by @ViaAlyssaNicole
