《A GenEric Story》Chapter 21

Sometime before in the Ban and Dit camp.
The principal of the burned orphanage found himself near the mines. He saw people who he had sold here, on the orders of the previous Duke but he also got a hefty price for it. He scoffed at them before going near them. He saw them working away, some mining and some transporting some material he knew nothing about. He was curious before he laid his eyes upon someone he knew. Jack. Jack was there.
He went near him and spoke, “Jack? Is that you?”
Jack stopped mining and looked at the principal before ignoring him and going back to work.
“You are ignoring me? After all, I’ve done for you and...”
He looked around and saw many similar faces, he continued, “all of you people?” while making a face so distraught that you’d think someone stole his life savings.
Jack looked up again and went near the principal with a pick axe in his hand.
“You sold us to slavery. How disillusioned must you be to think that you’ve done anything for us?” said Jack in an odd calm manner trying his best to keep his anger in check.
“You guys grew up so healthy-”
“If we didn’t have these collars on our neck, you’d be dead by now.”
The principal smirked and looked at his collar and smirked before laughing uncontrollably.
“Yes.”
He laughed even more before clapping and walking around the place.
“Yes! Know your place.”, said the principal pointing his fingers to Jack.
Before it could escalate any further, Slav came inside the cave and asked, “What’s going on?”.
The principal scoffed again and replied, “Another slave...”
“You’re not allowed in here.”, said Slav without missing a beat.
“I’m not allowed here? Me? How dare a slav-”

Slav grabbed his hand and threw him to the ground before he could finish his sentence.
The principal stared into the ground for a few moments before getting up, he tried to dust off the dirt on his clothes but he got riled up and started screaming at Slav.
“You... You can’t do this!”
“Ban and Dit are my masters. Not you.”, said Slav in a calm voice.
The principal looked at all of them in anger but he knew that he couldn’t do anything, so he started to walk away.
“It’s John.”
“What?”, said the principal after turning back.
“It’s not Jack. It’s John.”. replied John.
The principal didn’t reply and scoffed while walking away.
Slav shrugged and sat on one of the boxes near her.
“So, what are you guys doing?”, she asked.
John looked at her and sighed before speaking, “We’re mining.”
He went back to his position to start mining again and continued, “That’s what we always do.”
“Hmm.”, replied Slav before jumping down from the box.
“I’m sure Ban and Dit would give you better roles if you could actually fight. Like me. I’m sure you guys can do it.”, she continued while smiling.
John and the others didn’t reply but kept working.
“Oh. Where’s Median?”, said Slav.
John shrugged.
“He was supposed to supervise over you guys! I’ll go check.”, said Slav before running outside.
John looked at her going outside with pitiful eyes, before going back to mining.
Slav ran as fast as she could, she took pride in being the fastest in her supposed family. She soon found Median, just hanging around, sitting on a rock, and eating an apple.
“What are you doing?”, asked Slav.
Median bit into the apple and looked over towards Slav before speaking, “Eating an apple.”

“You’re supposed to look over the people mining.”
Median stopped looking at Slav and looked over at the distance while continuing to eat his apple.
“It’ll be fine.”, he replied while having no care in the world.
“Fine? You’re not doing your- Wait, where’s-”
“Ogre?”
Slav nodded.
“He was called over by Ban a while ago. Something to do with other ogres or something.”
“You’re correct.”, said Ban who appeared out of nowhere. She shocked Slav and started laughing.
Median got up from his rock and tossed his apple aside.
Dit joined them soon after with Ogre behind them, with ten additional ogres.
“Wow, Ogre! Looks like you had ten children.”, said Median mockingly.
“Ogre!”, replied Ogre.
“They do look way smaller than ogre...”, said Slav while putting a finger on her lips, confused.
Dit sighed and spoke, “We have a plan. Follow us.”
They all stopped talking and asking further questions and followed Ban and Dit who led them towards a cliff.
“So, they’re all there somewhere?”, asked Ban.
“Yes. Doug seems them all.”, replied Dit.
“Good.”, said Ban while laughing mildly.
“You know what to do Ogre.”, she continued.
“Ogre!”
As soon as the ogres heard the scream, they ran down at full force towards the forest. A battle was about to commence.

Entangled Fates Book 1 - Quantum Beginnings
“By far, the greatest danger of Artificial Intelligence is that people conclude too early that they understand it.” —Eliezer Yudkowsky Hey all, we're moving over to book 2. This content is in a state of transition. The book is now availble on Amazon (includes extra chapters): https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07W1534R8 Artificial intelligence was nearly mankind’s last invention. AI took off like a rocket, then when it racked up an impressive death toll, it crashed before it could blossom and took most high-tech industries with it. Resistance and fears became deep-set. Two decades after the infamous Rev. 4.6 incidents, humanity hasn’t quit dreaming of the wealth and power that could be at their fingertips. A new generation of mega-corporations rose from the ashes. When one melds a quantum computer to a barely functional mental patient as a PR move, there are those who seek to profit, those who want to destroy it, and Alex. Alex Sage is a typical college student trying to keep up his grades and maybe find a meaningful connection with the fairer sex. Then, an automated semi crashes into his home, killing his family and turning his head into a pin cushion in the process. Alex awakens to find most of his memories gone and an illegal AI hidden in his brain implant. Now the pet project of a tech billionaire and heavily in debt, Alex struggles to stay valuable enough to be kept online. Still grappling with the repercussions of his injuries, and threats from a dangerous anti-augmentation political movement, there are no easy answers and threats loom around every corner. Alex must use whatever resources he can to escape from under the thumb of a ruthless corporation, while keeping those he comes to love safe. Chapters will stay up on RRL until Aug 10. It'll go up on Kindle Unlimited after that. How do you get those extra chapters I didn't have planned for RR? If you want them, they'll be in the published book. Book 2 will still make sense without them - I made sure of that. But... isn't $3 a lot for extra chapters? Think of it as tipping me for a good job and you'd also be getting my eternal thanks. If you enjoyed it so much that the idea of missing out a few chapters haunts you, I did my job as an author and made an engaging story. What's in those extra chapters? Resolving a few issues, set up for the cybernetic revolution, a rather intense sex scene with a new partner, revelations of who's really pulling strings, and a bit of set up for book 2. Complaints that people missed out on it when it was published here won't help (sorry!). I posted this for the folks who helped me shape the book, which is you all! (Again, yay!) But... Why! Why not keep it all on RR forever? My editor likes being paid for one. For two, I'd like the ability to get broader readership. If I break even on editor costs, I'll be incredibly happy. What about book 2? Drafts for Book 2 will go up around Sept 10. My draft of Book 2 is done, and it will be handed to the editor once Book 1 is published. Feedback has been even more positive. Beta readers devoured it and wanted more. I'll add a link to Book 2 once it's up on RR. I'm more or less, using you all for Beta Readers, so you get it before it's "canon" and edited. I invite active and meaningful feedback during this process. In return, you get early access to chapters. That does mean that the book content or plot might be adjusted before it gets published as I refine it. Sex Y/N? Yes. I heard the feedback, 90% wanted it explicit. You all will get the "full" experience. Will I dump all of book 2 here? Honestly, I'm not sure yet. At a minimum, it'll be up to the 75% mark as we collect feedback, much like what I did with book 1. It really depends on how good the feedback is and how nice people are. Lots of support + meaningful feedback to make it better = higher likelihood you get all the book. Will be it up here indefinitely? No, it'll probably go up on KU at some point, but I'll make sure there's enough time for a large readership to grab it here. Then we move to book 3 which already is around 60K words already. What about other adventures in the same universe/characters? Yep. Absolutely. Nothing ready to share yet though. I plan to keep those side chapters and more slice of life stories as RR exclusive. Since I'm carving this off in book-sized segments, I'll have to figure out where those disconnected story arcs belong. I'm open to suggestions.

Authors Note: If you find that the dialogue from the prologue to chapter 5 seem to be not that smooth, I apologize for that, it was my first time writing a fanfic so the dialogue was not in a format that is ideal. However, due to reader comments and some research I will try to attempt to improve the dialogue from chapter 6 and onwards. I may or may not come back to edit the first few chapters since I would have to rewrite most of it and I would rather spend that time writing out more of the story.
