Aaron had never felt more alive. Watching his shadowy adversaries stalk him, knowing it could all be over in a second made him think. He wanted to fight he wanted to live. A switch had been flipped on his mind. His anger at the world formed a nebulous core from which energy flowed forth. He was in a trance, the amount of energy flowing through him increasing by the second. He wasn't a helpless spatial refugee anymore, he was a cornered animal, one with fangs. The one on the left leapt forward, almost faster than he could react. Flow-state Aaron was now moving completely on instinct. Massively underestimating his now augmented strength, he jumped backwards, dirt exploded in clumps around him as he was propelled a good twenty feet back. Landing unsteadily on his feet, he took advantage of the robed figure's moment of surprise at Aaron's speed, by Leroy Jenkins-ing himself straight back at the attacker with all the speed he could muster. Dagger outstretched Aaron collided with the shadowy form with the force of a small hatchback. Aaron felt a searing pain in his thigh and to his horror found the short sword sticking out of his thigh, Blood starting to ooze out. " Fuck" he screamed in anger as he hooked one of his arms around the arm of his opponent and start stabbing like a madman. A good five stabs later, Aaron hobbled back, a wild slash aimed at his head barely missing. The first robed figure collapsed with a wet thunk, as the other eyed him warily with glowing red slits.
Not putting weight on his injured leg Aaron hobbled around to not give his back to shady fuck. "Come on bitch" he muttered. "Make your move".
Without warning the hooded figure number 2 thrust forward, his sword now an eerie black. Aaron barely managed to dodge slipping sideways in the most clumsy way possible. The wellspring of energy he found at the start of the fight started to dry up. Pain and exhaustion dulled his movements. Gritting his teeth, he lifted his leaden arms, bloodied dagger pointing towards his still adversary. On cue, it started walking towards him with grim certainty. Aaron standing his ground. Closing the distance with a short run it slashed at him. Aaron moved to block with the dagger which turned out to be a big mistake. Dagger spinning out of his arms and into the distance, he looked on in horror at it winding up for a slash that would kill him. Everything moved in slow motion. The robed figure reached the apex of its swing and as it sought to bring down its sword on Aaron. A glowing crescent of bluish energy hit its arm, lopping it off at the wrist. Greyish blood now spurting everywhere. Aaron grinned like a madman, as he stepped in and jabbed, its head snapping back very satisfactorily. He followed with a body shot and left hook to the face. Aaron could feel something give within the hood as it wobbled unsteadily. Tripping it onto the dirt, he slipped onto his back and locked in the tightest rear-naked choked of his life. Aaron SQUEEZED and SQUEEZED. Until he felt the life give out in his arms. A warm glow entered his body as he lay panting on the ground. HE.WAS.ALIVE.

Ursus Ex Machina
Ozzy was a man of the wild. Raised in a remote village atop the world's mightiest mountain, he'd been taught to respect and revere the natural world. The realm he was born into had been there long before him, and it would remain there long after him. Sure, there was the occasional madman who threatened to destroy it, but such boasts were always empty. No one individual was actually capable of demolishing this beautiful blue-and-green ball Ozzy called home. No matter what terrible magics these villains wielded, they were incapable of causing permanent harm to the environment. Even if the planet was completely devastated, it would recover. Life would find a way to flourish, same as it always had. That was what Ozzy believed from the bottom of his heart, so he never once felt the need to save the world he loved. After all, it was never truly in danger. The world would be fine no matter what. The people were a wee bit endangered, but that was another story altogether. However, what would happen if Ozzy suddenly found himself devoid of his beloved wilds? What would the man do if the realm he knew - one of wonder, magic, and chaos - was replaced with a man-made environment of concrete, industry, and steam? Ozzy could never imagine such a thing happening, and yet that was his new reality. After losing a fateful confrontation with a mad wizard, he and his friends found themselves transported to a strange world so thoroughly alien that every waking moment feels like a fever dream. Separated and scattered to the four corners of this land, each of these adventurers will need to adapt, survive, and overcome if they hope to reunite. They would also need to do so quickly. The sooner they are able to find one another, the sooner they can figure out a way back home and have another crack at putting an end to the villain's plans. Whether such a thing was actually possible in a world with barely any magic in it was a valid concern, but Ozzy had more immediate things to worry about. For instance, why did the air smell like a perpetual forest fire? How did ships sail through the sky as if it were water? And most importantly, was the pavement he was hurtling towards at high speed much softer than it looked? Probably not, but a man could hope.
