《Love Death Cemetery》Chap 25: A tomb and a girl

Lug came out of his house after a few minutes.

He had gone to ask Gavan where the grave of this "miss Parnac" was.

On his way out he saw the young woman smelling the snowdrops that he had planted near his house.

Lug did not like flowers, he had the pragmatism of those who plant only what can be eaten.

But in spite of that he had chosen to plant flowers near his home.

Perhaps to hide from visitors the fact that he had planted a lot of vegetables, or perhaps out of love for beautiful things.

"Excuse me? I know where the grave you're looking for is, I'll take you there." he said quietly.

"My name is Hannah, with two H's, it reads both ways the same, not bad right? And you?" said the young woman happily.

"Lug, nice to meet you." he said soberly as he started walking towards Vonne.

Hannah followed him.

They passed by the swing where the old lady was gently swaying as she followed them with her eyes.

Hannah stared at her for a moment and then said:

"I thought the cemetery was closed to visitors?"

Lug froze for a moment, then said without thinking:

"Oh, that is my mother who came to visit. She's a little shy but very nice."

“She has to be 80 years old at least…” she thought.

Hannah knew at once that this was a lie, but she did not care, after all she knew something was up with this cemetery since she saw the heavily reinforced gate.

After a bit of walking, they arrived at a small marble grave, minimally decorated.

There was a small photo of a woman who appeared to be quite young, perhaps late 30s, early 40s.

"This is it."

"Thank you very much... I'd like some time alone if you don't mind."

Lug didn't want to leave his guest alone, who knows what she might find, the greenhouse he had placed near here? The beet plants? Or the wall he had started to decorate?

He shook his head and decided to observe his guest discreetly to make sure she didn't stray.

"Sure, I'll go take care of sweeping near my house, come see me if you need anything."

He walked away, and once he was a good distance away hid behind a low wall.

After a few minutes, he saw Hannah looking right and left to make sure no one was there.

Then she touched the grave, started to run her hands around as if she was looking for something.

She had small hands with short, lightly varnished nails, obviously not used to manual labor.

She then suddenly stopped searching, stood up and took pictures of the grave, she then headed back to the entrance of the cemetery.

Lug hurried back to the front of his house, picked up his broom and started sweeping again.

As she walked passed the swing, Hannah waved at the old lady, who smiled back at her.

She then stopped in front of Lug.

"Thank you, for showing me her grave, I have one last question: did you see anything special near or on this grave? A paper or something?" she said in an almost whisper.

"Um, no nothing like that. Why?"

"Look, I'm going to leave you my number, can you call me if anything comes to mind about that grave?" she held out a yellow post-it note with a number written on it in ballpoint pen.

Lug took it.

"Okay."

"Thanks," she said with a smile.

Lug looked away again. He was way more confident than before, but he was still weak in front of a beautiful woman.

He opened the door for her and she walked away to her car, which she had parked near the army tents camped outside the cemetery.

He closed the heavy door.

Leaned against the metal plates and pulled from his pocket the piece of paper Hannah had left him with her number.

"I need to find information about this grave," he thought.
