Chapter 3.

Charlotte

Vie spent the morning in the house gardens with Nain Joan.

As they worked together she asked about Finns parents

deciding to live apart.

"Other than accepting the outcome, Finns Father had nothing

to do with the decision." Nain Joan said.

"It was all Finns' Mothers' doing.... the uppity bitch."

Surprised by her tone Vie apologised for asking.

"I didn't mean to be curt Vie." Nain Joan said.

"I have developed a deep and abiding dislike for Miriam.

As soon as Finn and his sisters where settled in and

studying at University, she decided to pursue her political

career without the hindrance of a marriage or children."

Nain Joan leant a ladder against a trellis and got Vie

to steady it as she climbed.

"Finn and the girls sometimes come back to visit during the

holidays, but not Miriam, she hasn't set foot in the house at

anytime in the last four years."

Vie handed a pair of pruning shears up to Nain Joan.

"It's funny you asked about it Vie.

Charlotte's coming tomorrow to stay."
