《Traveler's Unceasing Footsteps》Chapter 5: A Sudden Sound

Unlike yesterday in which I slept for a long time, this morning even before the first bell reverberated in the whole city I woke up immediately and after preparing myself I departed from the inn towards the shops that are in the main road.
After a long time of asking and searching for a cheap store where I can buy things that I needed I found it in an a general store where you can find variety of things, I asked the owner of the shop about the things I want and he helped me in buying a cheap dagger, a used leather armor and a sling bag which cost me quite a bit of money, I thank the man as I leave the store and head towards the guild.
Then as usual I took a quest from the guild and finished it by the sunset then go back towards the inn.
And so my days passed by like this as my fifth day in this city passed, I paid the innkeeper lady to extend my stay in the inn for another five nights, then like a habit I walked towards the guild and search for a quest that I will do today but this usualness was suddenly broken as I heard a loud sound, I turned my head like the other mercenaries in the guild as we saw a yellow haired boy sitting on the floor glaring angrily towards a man who's cheeks reddening.
“Whass...that look for?!” asked the man as he staggers.
“Hah?! You're asking that?! You pushed me while I'm walking! Of course I'd be angry!” the boy rebutted back as he tried to stand up and reached for the sword in his waist but stopped by a black-green haired girl who carries a bow and quiver full of arrows in her back.

“Why are you stopping me!?” the angry boy tried to peeled the girls hand but stopped when he noticed that other people are looking at him.
Then the girl whispered something towards the boy completely calming him down as he gave the man who's giving him a mocking smile a last glare before the both of them walks towards the entrance of the guild.
Satisfied in seeing how the boy didn't fight back the man laughed. “Hahaha, all you can do is listen to your girl like a dog!”, not wasting the chance the man remarked towards their retreating backs.
The boy stopped before the door but he didn't turn to look back on gave a reply to the man's provocation.
“Be careful when you're alone outside.”
Hearing the clear threat from his words the man laughed.
“A newbie threatening your senior, Hahaha! You're the who should be careful especially that girl, Hehehe!” the man muttered while licking his lips as he look towards the entrance, he then got back to his table.
After everything's over the mercenaries that are watching got back to their own business like there's nothing happened making the whole guild bustling again, I am curious about what happened so I asked the receptionist whom I've given my request about what just happened.
“That was a normal thing that happens to the newcomer of the guild.”
“Isn't bad? What if they fight?”
“If its just a fistfight the guild will intervene or we asked them to take it outside, if the fight escalates to them drawing their swords they will get penalty which depends in the situation, the worst would be both of them being banned in the guild.”
'So its a normal thing but why do I not experienced it? Not that I want it...Ah, maybe its because of Carl who looks to be a veteran that is with me at that time that I didn't get bullied?' I thought as I thanked the receptionist.

Finishing the process of taking a quest I head out towards the forest to harvest again but now I will walk in the much deeper part of the forest because I accepted a quest gathering the leaves of a flower that are close to a goblin settlement, its a little dangerous but I accepted it because I have a little money left after paying for my stay at the inn and also its the one that got recently attacked by other mercenaries, so as Zana told to me yesterday, I trust her information but just in case I need to be careful in my surroundings so that a stray goblin or other monsters wont attacked me while I am harvesting.
Following the track left by the other mercenary I walked towards the part where the flowers are and after a long period of searching and walking I finally found it.
I harvested the leaves which is much easier to do than cutting asille herbs, all I need to do is to avoid putting too much force so that I wont pluck the flower but due to the vigilance I already started sweating as I focus all of my senses especially my eyes to look around the forest making me tire more faster, if a monster showed up all I can do is run as I have no experience in using the sword in my waist making it unnecessary weight when I run outside the forest.
As a drop of my sweat falls in the ground I plucked the last leaf of the flower in front of me and put it my bag finally finishing my quest, I heaved a sigh of relief for having not attacked by a monster and so I tried to stand up but-

This story was previously known as "The Awakening".~*~"One... two... three... one... two... three... a million... is that number right?" A figure less voice echoed."Hello? Who's there?" Caliope asked, focusing on that voice."One... two... who? A million... a billion... no, it's more... a legion..."Silence. She had seen too many horror movies and heard too many stories about that single word to overpass its meaning. The voice went quiet, yet she was still unable to see where it came from.
