《Lord of cauldrons》Chapter 4:Treatment[Simon's point of view]

"Have you reconsidered my offer?"
"Not in the mood."
The first thing I was greeted when I reentered the main sect gates was getting harassed by miss princess of the sect Junli here. My mood was down in the dumps and I had two little bundles in my arms that would probably die from her murderous presence alone. In her normal cold monotonous tone, she asked.
"May I ask why? I am one of the strongest of my generation and would make a much better artifact than those two fragile mortals in your arms."
"Can we not have this conversation right now?"
"Very well, when is it being postponed to?"
"I do not know, later. Come find me later."
Accepting that answer the woman left. Sighing I went to my assigned 'hut'. Arriving at the large room building with a herb garden in the middle I was greeted by Bai Qing. She was about to give me one of her signature pouts but one look at my face and her demeanor shifted entirely.
"Can you put these two to bed? Can you little Bai?"
Silently she took the two sleeping forms from my arms. The scene was comical as the two girls were larger than her but the strength in her small form made the process look effortless though logistics were very off. I would make a joke at any other time but right now there were better ways to spend my time. Thankfully my essence was hard at work and most of the wrinkly texture of their skin was replaced by a much healthier smooth one. This, however, would keep them asleep proven by the fact they were still asleep after the rough shift.
I went down a hatch at the back room of the hut to come to my alchemy lab, which was also my enchanting station and my crafting station. When one did not need to spend so much time practicing martial artes all of a sudden a huge portion of their time becomes unused. As a hobby I had picked up several disciplines, turns out I was good at them and so kept at it.

What I needed right now were nutrition pills, their bodies had gone through years of malnourishment and normal food could do as much harm as good if we were not careful. But as a three-star alchemist if I could not remove all their ailments with no side effects I should just give up that title.
Shoving all the herbs into the alchemy cauldron was easy enough and with God's mist keeping the right temperature and essence flow was child's play. But here was where the real challenge came to play, the high purity of these pills could easily destroy the bodies of those two girls. I could make them less pure but the impurities would harm their future growth so that was out. What I was left with was a very convoluted idea to insert my essence as a limiter so the pills were not absorbed too quickly. Simple in theory but to attach a piece of essence to a pill to give it additional functions was extremely difficult. The only reason I could even think to do so was that I was also a three-star artifact craftsman and a three-star enchanter.
While the pill was still being formed with the omniscient sense God's mist granted me I slowly started etching the rune work onto the surface. Every line I drew with my essence had to be perfect, even a moment's distraction would shatter the magic array and would probably destroy the pill with it.
Sweat trickled passed my brow as I worked at it, my only confidence was that I had done this once before. My mind was split three ways perfect temperature control, perfect essence, and etching onto the still gooey pill. Not one could be anything other than perfect otherwise the harmony required for the spell to form would not happen and all of that effort was for naught. It was around an hour but felt more like days before the pill was ready and the spellwork held. I whooped for joy as the pill formed only to groan when I realized I had to make a second one. The second go around was not as successful nor was the third or the fourth. On my fifth attempt though I finally managed to recreate the success of the first.

I stood up and turned only to see little Bai standing with her trademark innocent smile and slutty outfit combo. In her hands was a fresh set of clothes.
I frowned, my soul ability should have prevented any soot or impurity from touching my body or clothes. I looked down only to realize my mistake. My essence was not only healing the girls but also refining their bodies ejecting at least a decade worth of gunk and impurities from their bodies. As such two large smelly imprints was now stuck on my clothes. But even then removing the stain would take but a thought why would she even bother?
Then it clicked, my little Bai was feeling needy right now, her master had gone out and gone straight to his lab upon his return leaving Bai all lonely.
"First, let us get these into our new family," I said pointing at the two pills in my hands.
Bai pouted but did not stop me. I nearly lost control at her war-starting pout but I held strong and moved along.
On the bed lay two sleeping forms, their expressions much healthier but their faces were still gaunt and covered with the impurities leaking from their pores. With a flick of a finger, all of the impurities were removed from their bodies, and the fabric and now a small ball of concentrated gunk rested on my hand. Moving to the head of the bed I gently pushed the pills into their mouths, Hope started suckling on my finger like a pacifier when I did which brought into picture just how starved she was. I slowly and softly pulled my fingers out which probably caused her a bit of distress as she moved her head trying to find it in her sleep. But the pill then started to kick in and she fell onto the pillow in deep restful slumber.
Closing the door behind me I was met with a thoughtful Bai.
"What is it, my little Bai?"
"Where can master have his Bai? His bedroom is occupied."
I nearly tripped, Bai really had a one-track mind.
I caught myself before pulling ourselves close together to share one passionate kiss.
"Anywhere my little Bai wants"
With half-lidden eyes, she asked.
"Really?"
"Yes."
I regretted that very soon after.

8 191The Orb Weaver Chronicles
"The Orb Weaver Chronicles contains several major and unique events that may or may not unknowingly intertwines with one another. The author of these chronicles is unknown, although some have hinted at the symbolism behind its name..." - Year unknown, location unknown 9 February 2022 Update: Welcome to the companion short story compilation of my novel trilogy The Shadow Paradigm. This compilation features prequels, sidequels and sequels to the novel's major plotline, as well as featuring a wide range of characters, new and recurring. Prior knowledge of the novel is not necessary as the Orb Weaver Chronicles' short stories are standalone. Once called The Arkesyyan Chronicles, I've deleted quite a few of its old stories. Due to the new avenue and revision, oriented toward more mystery and film-noir ambience, that I took my stories into, I've removed all aliens and overly sci-fi aspects of the whole TSP lineup, so I've updated the Orb Weaver Chronicles accordingly. I hope you enjoy them, and in time, a revised version will also be updated.
