《Warped World: The Nether Dungeon》Interlude 3 Divine Intervention

The mournful voice of a woman berated a smiling shadow that hovered in a corner. “You know it’s wrong to hurt that dungeon to punish Havoc, right?” The shadow only grumbled as the voice continued. “We both know that Deanbeak had no chance at all of beating Faun Sway in a fight even if he ambushed her. She’s on a different level than he was, you should have more faith in your daughter Anarchy.”
“I know Deanbeak would have lost. I may have overreacted, any parent would if their child was threatened. I know it was kind of pointless, and she's strong but she's still one of my children and I would do anything in my power for them just like you Sorrow.”
“On that we agree at least. So, are you going to reverse your decision and return the ogres to this little dungeon?”
Anarchy gave it some thought shifting between different forms, never staying as one monster for long, eventually settling on something covered in spiky yellow fur.
“No, I won’t be changing my mind on that, not unless someone convinces me too at least. Besides he wouldn’t get access to ogres till the 5th floor anyway. So, I didn’t really deny him anything yet.”
Sorrow bristled with rage at Anarchy’s words and the true face of the Goddess of Torture showed itself. Her nail elongated into spikes and the skin on her arms up to her elbows flayed and hung in the air exposing the raw muscles beneath. Branches like antlers sprouted from her head while her eyes sunk into her skull leaving bleeding black pits. What remained of her legs lay on the floor attached to the bleeding remains of the torso by ligaments and barbed wire.
After her transformation Sorrow just floated in the air in front of Anarchy glaring down at him. “You know taking your true form won’t intimidate me, right? Remember I am the God of Monsters, but since you seem to be in one of your moods, I suppose I could return them, if you win a bet against me.”

“What kind of bet, Anarchy?”
“If the dungeon unlocks both of our floors and one other within a year's time I will return the ogres to him, plus I will let him keep the replacement monster I gave him. Plus, I will create a new breed of monster just for you, but if he can’t, you have to help with the recruitment and training of the next wave of gods.”
Sorrow continued to float, ever so slowly shrinking and returning to her human form, before she spoke again. “This is agreeable, but I have to ask, you know I would help train the next wave anyway, why make a bet where you don’t gain anything from it?
Anarchy let loose a strangled laugh from his shifted form and replied “I do gain something; I won’t have to recruit them all myself this time. Gives me some time to follow up on other activities.”
“Very well Anarchy, then by the Laws of the First we have a deal.”

HUD: Wargame (Sci-Fi GameLit)
★★★★★UNFRIGGENBELIEVABLE!!!!!! "HUD: Wargame is a sci-fi GameLit worth reading." -TienSwitch ★★★★★Rock-solid FPS GameLit. "Nic - the main character - is an ambitious, hyper-competitive perfectionist, and the story fortunately handles him correctly in that it does not push these traits too far." -Akaso ★★★★★This is a good one! "This is one of those stories where you read the first few paragraphs and can just tell that the author has the chops to tell a story. It's engaging and the rules are well thought out and clearly explained. The action is punchy and exciting. Anyway, read it." -HonourRae In the future, everything is a game. Even war. 18-year-old Nic Sigfried wants the high score. Virtually piloting a real-life robot, he'll face off against his peers with the help of his AI guidance system, RTIFIS. The prize?
