《Dungeon of books》The Cautious Team - Chapter 23

Pov - Umbra
My god, they are so god-damn slow, it makes the Priestess's team look like a fucking comet! All they did since entering the area is skulk around as if they are prairie dogs! They even stop the Priestess when she wanted to run off and show them the cave, with some bull shit like ‘Oh we have to check every inch to make sure it is viable for being a good dungeon’! I am so going to kill the arrogant sons of bitches when I get the chance!
I try to force my emotions down because I know deep in my heart that if they were all to die, I would be unable to gain any more adventurers. So this is necessary, I tried to look away to focus on some other experiments.
So like that, I spent several hours working on the Amaryllis and I really did not make any progress except getting so angry that I started to smash my mental head into a mental wall. Thus, after that brief yet a sharp bit of anger, I decided to bring my consciousness back to the Investigation Team. What I saw through almost made me flip the kill switch and send every goddam creature in this dungeon to kill them.
I was able to hold myself back, though, but I was teetering off the edge of wrath. They were only slightly past the halfway point and have set up camping gear. I see that they are on the lakeside and that all the Investigation Team are eyeing the lake suspiciously, hell even the Priestess is eyeing the lake. Listening to their reason for staying by the lake is solid, but they are courting death by being so near to the Vine Golem. Sure, no other animals dare come near the lake after the first case of the Vine Golem annihilating a pack of wolves, and sure it does make them technically safe, but personally, I would stay clear of the Golem. Oh, wait, they never found out the status or even saw the Vine Golem, all they did was run away.

Look at them all peacefully sleeping. Oh, except the Rogue, who seems to have been left the job of standing guard. I can’t wait for the expedition to move on. How can they honestly just move that slowly, does it not even bore them? Even when I was a small farmer, I had constant and different work to do. It was engaging, while this is just a constant boring slog where nothing new happens.
Oh, I know what I can do to speed up this expedition. I let out an evil chuckle that resonates deep within my soul. They dare make me wait for my entertainment, so in return, I shall send them running deeper. I let out another evil chuckle.
With my evil scheming coming to an end, I move my consciousness over to the west side. I come face to face with one of the natural creatures that have evolved within my dungeon.

Seeing the status now, I let go of my hold on my evil smile. No, it does not matter that I am only a consciousness. The reason I was letting out an evil smile was that last time I checked him, he was only a Dire wolf. So the now Shadow wolf is the first creature within my Demi-plane to evolve twice. I let out another mental evil laugh. But in the middle of my evil laugh, I somehow mentally choked on something, causing me to mentally hack. While this was happening, I was only thinking to myself that I have to cut down on the evilness.

After I was done hacking, I let out a sigh and prepare a mental communication to the wolf. Now that I look at the wolf, it looks like its body is a shadow on a wall, but what ruins this impression is that the wolf is 3D. I cough into my mental palm, ‘My dear subject, I wish that you go and slay the adventures parading around my plane. If you are too weak to complete the mission, drive them towards the mine.’ Once I was done with my grandiose speech, I can tell that the wolf took a fence, even mentioning that it could be weak. Then, with a Prideful stare, I could swear that the wolf is making a vow to itself that it will solo the adventurers. This causes me to facepalm at this wolf's arrogance. Even with my messed-up power-sensing ability, I thought that his wolf could not defeat the adventurers.
Now that I am starting to think about it. If all creatures have the system and are able to use the system, how come there's a difference between Sapient and Non-Sapient races? Also, along the thought lines, how come a beast with a higher race rank and a higher intelligence compared to a Sapient is not counted as a Sapient? Is there some sort of special divide between the types? I let out a huge sigh, knowing that all I’m doing is adding questions with no possible source to get my information. All I can really do is wait until I’m more powerful and grasp the answer for myself. I can’t rely on Akasha all the time.
At that moment, it was as if something click within me as I vowed that I would try to resolve my problems and questions on my own. Also, if I can’t beat my problem like the Abyssal creature, ask Akasha for help because it's fine to be independent, but it's a terrible idea to believe that I am the Messiah and solve every problem myself. I knew deep in my heart that Akasha one day will not be able to help me like with the Abyssal creature. So if I grow too reliant on Akasha, I will fall apart the second she is unable to do something, even if she is the strongest person I have met so far.
With those words firmly scratched within my desolate soul. I watch the Shadow wolf walk around, not knowing where the Adventures are because I forgot to tell him where it was. I let out a self-deprecating laugh as I realize that I need to work on my staying on-track skills. Furthermore, I have a problem staying on one task without my mind wandering to others. Trying to pull myself together, I sent another location into the wolf’s mind. The wolf surprised stood still for a bit, then it starts whimpering like crazy. I was wondering why, then it clicks! The wolf was one of the survivors of the golem incident, and he has PTSD. I quickly got my mind back together and sent him another message, ‘The golem will not attack you. This test is for you and you alone.’
Hearing my words, the wolf is able to bring himself together, but obviously seems reluctant to go to the lake. The wolf lets what I would gash a sigh would be for a wolf and starts walking towards the lake. This time however he seems far less arrogant and is he dragging his feet?

What Was Lost Outside Time
What happens to a mind, subjected to an infinite span of time? What remains, when it is taken out again? This is the story of an individual reborn after such time has passed that nothing remains of what it was; an individual who must learn once again what it is to be, beginning with awareness of the idea of awareness, and growing from there; from awareness of self, to awareness of others, to awareness of society, and on. This is the story of a mind; growing, learning, adapting, and becoming more. -- Currently the first three chapters are - well, kind of experimental. I both like and hate these; they were a pain to write, and I'm told by at least one person that they're painful to get through, but I think something like them is necessary to set one of the basic ideas about the way the story is written. It gets slightly more normal after that, the first arc of the story is rather "battle school", and I think I may need to go back and edit it - the characterization didn't end up working out as well as I had originally hoped, unfortunately, and ended up rather weak to my eye. I may go back and add a sub-plot or two, depending on how well I can handle the intended perspective shift of the second arc. -- Currently on hiatus, in case that wasn't obvious. I'm debating between rewriting large portions of what I've already written, and just finishing out the story, but either way, I don't actually have a clear idea of what I want to do right now. If I'm still feeling the same way in a few months I'll put a chapter up explaining where the story was going, maybe, so the people who have enjoyed it can know where the story was intended to go, and close this out.
