《Far cry: My life in a fantasy world as a gunslinger (Idea dump go to Far cry of an anti-hero for a more refine one)》Chapter 4: A calming bath with a not so peaceful end

I pick a flower from a bush nearby and put it in front of the gate of the cemetery. Even though this was somewhat of a Christian cemetery and it’s not really my religion at all, I would still like to pay my respect to those who had died here and those who are seeking salvation trapped in their rotten facade.
After I finish giving my respect, I then inspect my belongings. Weapons: M1911, 4 rounds left and 1 extra mag; Shovel, broken and discarded; combat knife, need cleaning. Loot and fuel: 4 bottles of new rubbing alcohol; 2 turpentine cans since I pour two half-full cans together; two sack of lantern oil. Miscellaneous: Area map and road map; silver dagger; iron musket balls; 4 imperial crests.
“Looks like that’s everything. I should get back now.”
I then make my way back to the camp. Upon arriving, I then try to find Emily. She is nowhere to be found. Her armor is still there though.
Aside from her armour, I could find was a note saying that she’s going to find food, and something good at that to pay me back for the meal she had.
Eh, this’s great, I can finally relax. It has been a tense three day. I recall seeing a carbonated spring near this spot. It’ll be nice to soak for a few minutes before coming back and the fresh clear water will help me disinfect the wound better.
After opening the trunk and putting all my stuff away, I then head out to the spring bath. Despite the thing is that I’m making my way to the spring bath, self-defense is still a necessity in this lawless world. I put some extra rounds in the half loaded m1911 magazine and sheath my combat knife. I still need to wash it anyway so. After locking everything and bring along my PDA, the knife and its sharpener and head to the bath.

After a short walk through the jungle, I then land in a pretty good looking oasis hiding behind a curtain of vines.
“Oh….This looks refreshing…”
The looks and aesthetics of the spring do give it a peaceful vibe. It doesn’t feel as bland as the hot springs I usually go to when I was still a kid.
I disrobe the fatigues get to the spring. I soak myself in the warm, bubbly water.
“Haah~ this is the best…”
As I drown myself in the bubbly water, every feeling of pain, fatigue and worry somewhat fly away. I haven’t arrived in this world for long, but somehow things feel better here. I don’t really know what I did to deserve such advantages, but I’m surely thankful for it. However, I still can’t shake the feelings of anxiousness and uneasy. I leave the bank of the lake, closing my eyes and let myself drift away along the current of the water.
“This sudden shift of situation somewhat baffles me…As soon as I dropped from being confident enough to take a test to rock bottom as to fail the so afformention test. Which in turn made me into a NEET otaku who spends his days aimlessly playing video games, watching videos dand playing dating sims. Of course, t,that might be why I died, too many allnighters…However, instead of coming here, shouldn’t I have gone to hell? I failed Mother and Father many times, ill-treated almost everyone in my class…How am I not in hell?”
These thought continuously spiral down up and down in my head. Until the memory of god addressing my death come to mind.
“Maybe this is barely the pseudo-world where I can live out my fantasy and maybe going to hell later…Yeah, that might be the reason why I’m having such an easy time… Ah screw it, I don’t really care. As long as it’s fast and not painful then I’ll take in anything.”

Discarding the thoughts, I then drift around for a while before hitting my head on something soft.
“Eh? What’s this?”
I then raise my hand up, trying to grab hold of the soft object that did not feel like a rock.
“HYA!~ ”
Another soft moan comes out as I squeeze the soft, round object colliding with my head. I open my eyes to see that no other than the “Klutzy knight” who saved me, with a flushed expression of embarrassment.
“I…I…”
“GEEZ! HOW LONG ARE YOU GOING TO SQUEEZE THEM? YOU SCOUNDREL!” she shouted as her hands push me down the soft warm water, trying to hide my leching sights away from her naked body.
“I’M…*ACK*….SOR…*ACK*…RY.”
After drinking somewhat half a liter of water, I manage to break free and move away from Emily. We both temporarily cover ourselves with some clean towels that Emily took from the car and have a straight conversation with each other. I acquire the seiza posture.
“Why are you sitting like that?” She asks.
“It’s a form of apologizing from where I’m from.”
“HM! Committing such a criminal act of voyeurism on me, have you gotten no shame?” Emily asks while trying to cover her embarrassment from my gazes.
“I was just…I saw the note you wrote and with the map, ,I found in the cemetery hinting this part of the jungle to have a hot spring. I then decided to come and have a bath and relieve myself of bad thoughts. And how lucky I was to be saved by you.”
“You…me…!?” She becomes more flustered.
“Anyway, I’m sorry to have peaked.” I bow down to apologize to her.
“Just this once alright? Be careful of your surroundings next time. And…and…if…you were to ask…me…I would…” Her face drastically turns redder as she stutters and tries to sound out to me.
I played enough eroge to know what she is going to say and I might say yes in the future but now my heart and mind aren't ready, so I divert her attention to another subject as it’s high noon and we should go back to the camp soon. We both don our pair of clothes and walk back both flustered from the situation we came through.

A Standard Model of Magic
The world ended, and magic came back. The part our parents didn't expect, was for Science to break on reentry. Twenty years after the apocalypse, with our nations dismantled and hidden continents unearthed, a new generation has grown up in the wreckage of 21st century civilization. For us, the fantastic is at our doorstep and we have had no choice but to fight back. Meanwhile, the laws of nature bend and break at the whims of immortal gods, all of which are now dead and none of which are content to stay that way. But we cannot afford to give up. We are the stewards of a rewritten century, in which a little luck and a whole lot of magic might make anything possible – maybe even a world better than the one we lost. A Standard Model of Magic is a complete overhaul of my old story A Storm in the Fall. I'm afraid I was unhappy with the LitRPG elements, which I don't mind reading, but I apparently loath writing. Sorry. Once I'd made the choice to decouple the story from the OF that inspired it and reconfigure the magic system to my satisfaction, little of the original plotline survived. I will be salvaging most of my original characters, and I will keep some elements which are endemic to the genre, but that is all. I don't have an update schedule which I can commit to yet, but I will try to maintain a weekly pace.(This is currently RoyalRoad exclusive, since I'm lazy. If you find it posted elsewhere, it wasn't me and it wasn't with permission) If you're interested, I've set up a discord.

I Have A Dagger
Bored, I browsed my spam folder. I clicked on some interesting spam, summoning me to another world. All I have is this dagger: [Dagger] Broad leaf blade made by a dwarf blacksmith while drinking. Hilt slapped on by an elf high on shrooms. The handle is pleasantly smooth, which makes for a terrible gripping experience. Upgradeable, if you upgrade it. Has a chance of killing something if you stab said something in the right place. Fully editable Google Doc for the whole story.

The Exodus Project
This is the original version of Origin before I rewrote it. It's much more simpler, some names and personalities are a little different. THere's nowhere near as much back story or character development/interaction. But the story is essentially at the end of book one. I wrote this 15 odd years ago, and with a bit of polish it doesn't look too bad. The story like Origin is about a group of college students who find a ship that is the last remnant of an ancient human space faring civilisation, they fix her up and go back into space. Along they way they'll meet alot of aliens, religious fundamentalists and conmen.
