《amarys the wizard of control》0002 - a trip

I am what they fear will happen, I am the prophecy manifesting before their eyes.
There is a sickness spreading, generation after generation all the clans are getting weaker.
My aura is the reminder that there is no cure and seeing me every day in the village, I was the reminder, and the danger, so they pushed me out.
That's why I am living in a cave, I can't find any village or city that will accept me, and if, they fear the sickness and see me as source of it, I will be as dead as the rabbit I am chewing on.
But that is in the future, right now I need the basics, I need to hunt more rabbits.
The rabbit I was devouring was, the finest meat I have ever tasted, or am I just too hungry to notice anything wrong with it.
I eat half of it as well as its liver, and I was still hungry despite all of that, I didn't want to eat it all and get sick.
Rationing was the word of the day, I kept half of it on top of flagstone rock that was on my right, next to the small fireplace made of Stone and mud and a chimney guiding the smoke out of the cave.
I have a memory of the boy dragging the rock from the river, the boy was weak compared to the people of this world, from my perspective he had the strength of a grown man, for a normal 14 years-old kid, carrying this rock is impossible.
The flagstone, was the size of a small dining table, an impressive show of force yet the most advanced technology in this cave is still a flat rock and a knife.
I looked around me, the entrance was blocked on the left by a door made of wood and mud, and a wall made in the same technique, the wall was connected to the fireplace built on the right with the flagstone positioned between the cave wall and the fireplace.
Behind me was my bedroom, on the left wall there was an empty water bag, that's it.
The kid wasn't setting up a temporary shelter, he was setting up a home.
Not realizing he didn't even have a chance, the hunger and physical fatigue left by the seizure, adding mental fatigue, the kid was doomed from the start.
The mental fatigue was another matter, its effects are still hunting me, I can't even remember things without getting confused, and using my quantum link implant for more than 2 minutes makes me feel even more fatigued, how can I live like this.
The implant is my only real advantage and its limited use only, why? Why is it malfunctioning?
As I asked in my mind, I noticed that I am getting absent-minded for short moments, I would just look at the cave wall or the fire just stare pensively into the crackling flames.
I was getting lost in thoughts and become unaware of my surroundings.
I don't even remember clearly how I skinned, gutted and cooked the rabbit.
Is that a symptom of soul sickness, am not sure, my memory of the boys' life is unclear yet familiar.
Maybe I just need to get more rest or some water, my throat is a bit too dry. Yeah, that's it, am just dehydrated.
That's what I told myself, it's just the dehydration resulting in a short term memory loss, I hoped.
What I need is a temporary distraction, before I start panicking, and make mistakes that could cost me my life.
What I need is work, yes that would be a temporary distraction from my worries, and it is the only distraction I have.
It's still morning, I can't waste the sunlight, time to get to work.
I set tasks for myself, get water and clean my kitchen.
I grabbed the water bag and collected the pail of the rabbit remains, head, guts and leftovers, it all needs to get disposed of before it starts to smell.
The smell could attract animals, or worse.
I went outside the cave, the cave was in a small area of undergrowth, I walked to the closest tree, it was five meters to the right, I dug a hole with a small rock, and luckily for me the soil was soft.
I buried the rabbit remains, keeping the rabbit's fur.
Furthermore, I looked back at the cave and didn't like my chances if someone or some animal found the cave, it needs a better defense, my inconspicuous shelter is only protected by a camouflage, that won't last.
I added upgrading the security to my to-do list, because life is a bitch and waiting for her to come get me was not in my playbook.
And security means learning about aura and how to fight using it, my aura is lightning oriented.
I looked at my left hand and explored my new senses, I felt a trickle of power building up, and I released a small electric chock between my fingers.
Not only that, but I could feel the weak control I have over my aura, I stopped playing with it and looked at my empty water bag, it was time to get water, I don't like feeling dehydrated.
There is a river close to the cave, just a few minutes’ walk.
As I walked to the river, I looked at some traps in my path just to see if I caught something, they were all empty for now.
I can hear the water flow, and feel my thirst getting stronger.
Walking in the undergrowth and as I got closer to the river, the forest was getting thinner until I reached a large clear area between the forest and the river.
I can see it, the river was flowing downwards coming from the village direction.
I walked closer and started to wash my face and hands in the cold, clean water.
After I felt how dirty my body is and told myself, 'I really need to take a shower'.
First I filed the bag and started drinking.
The feeling of the water quenching my thirst was amazing.
I started to fill up the water bag again.
SnAp.
Behind me, I heard a noise of wood snapping, it attracted my attention to my left up the river, and I still didn't see anything, so I stood up to listen, the sound felt far away to my ears.
'Is someone’s in the forest?’ I wondered.
Nothing, I looked around me and listened carefully, still nothing.
The clear areas didn't worry me, it was the forest bushes that I can't see beyond that made me nervous.
Still nothing.
I turned back to my task of getting water, as I was re-filling my water bag.
SnAp.
My attention snapped back to the forest and I looked to my right.
I froze like a statue, as if manifesting out of a nightmare a large black head of a bear appeared, it was looking at me from the forest bushes, jaw widening.
It had two black horns like a mountain goat, and black fur.
The world seamed to stop, it all seemed to happen so slowly.
Ignoring everything, I could only see it in my mind, focused only on it as it looked back at me.
'Close, it’s way too fucking close'.
The distance was only 50-60 meters, yet I felt as if it was right next to me.
Before I could move a muscle, it was moving towards me fast, extremely fast.
In the back of my mind, A brain cell woke up, and that neuron told me to get the fuck out of here, RUN.
I didn't even feel or know how my legs started moving, I simply made a dash for the undergrowth and the trees.
Probably it was the survival instincts of the prey animal, activated by the fear of death.
I was running for my life running faster than I ever imagined possible to my home to the fire in, I wasn't fast enough.
I could feel it behind me, as I was running just before entering the forest, a feeling I have known only yesterday and in memories came back.
Yeah, it’s coming back the seizure, I dropped to the dirt and turned on my back to see a monstrosity Rushing towards me less than 4 meters away and that’s when the seizure hit.
It was my aura it felt as if I had a second skin, and it was expanding, tearing at my skin as if to escape from my own body.
The pressure under my skin was released, I screamed from the pain as my body started to tremble uncontrollably.
I was a lightning storm.
My aura, I could feel it as an extension of my senses, its rage, and its power.
Everything was getting hit, but mostly the bear was getting most of it, I can feel its body.
I looked at the creature, and it was only one step away from me, on the ground getting shocked by my unintentional attack.
My aura was focused mostly on it, and it looked frozen in pain, just like me.
The last thing I remember was the feeling of my insides burning up, and the smell of burning hair that filled the air.
I lost consciousness.
***
Waking up was difficult, like the first time after a seizure, the air was full of the smell of burning fur and flesh.
I could taste it in the air, and feel myself, that was the worst part feeling my body, Sore, dirty and ravenous, my muscles were weak and twitchy.
I started curling up on myself and stopped.
Remembering the bear I looked around me in panic, to see it next to me on the forest floor, Icy fear shoot through my veins, it looked dead.
The image of this horned bear peeking out of the forest bushes was still very real in my mind.
'I cannot believe I survived this thing'.
Feeling fatigued and unable to lift my body, I forced myself to stand up, and carefully moved closer to the beast, yes it’s dead.
“Better you than me.” I told the corpse.
I started rotating my shoulders to loosen up, this body is malnourished and the seizures aren't helping.
Feeling unclean along with the shame of not controlling my body overwhelming me, I looked at the river and moved towards it, and I just walked in.
The water wasn't deep just up to my knees, ignoring the cold I started cleaning myself mostly on reflex, like a robot I just cleaned myself.
The sun was sinking below the horizon, I could not stop looking around me, the movement added to my headache, but I was a bit paranoid to not look, like waking up to see a spider on my pillow, in that situation no matter how hard you tried the paranoia won't leave.
As I glanced around me, expecting an attack, I looked up the river in the village direction to see, black thick smoke billowing up into the sky.
'Fuck them, am blessed with my own problems.' I told myself.
Again I noticed the calm descending on my mind, that's not normal what's wrong with my mind, I can feel something like memory that keeps escaping me, I closed my eyes as I was taking deep breaths and centered myself, still can't get rid of that feeling.
The sun was very close to coming dawn, and I was just tired, that’s when I looked in the village direction to see smoke billowing up into the sky.
Likewise, I had my own problems I stood up moved to the river and just walked in, started cleaning myself like robot just cleaned.
First my face, my arm and the best part the pants.
At that moment when I was cleaning my pants from the piss and shit, it came to me that it's unhealthy to clean clothes in the river the villagers could get sick.
That’s when I laughed like a madman, who cares if they drink it or not let them taste my shit, let them all get pink eye.
I don’t care, in fact from today onward, I will only shit in the river.
Looking back at the smock rising from the village and back at the black bear
I noticed and picked up the water bag and refiled it.
I got my clothes back on all wet and cold and moved to that bear thing if the boy's memory is correct.
Its beast and all beasts have a core inside the base of their skulls or in the neck, and a core can be used for many things like mana storage and more.
Maybe if I can sell it I can find a cure, yes that’s good idea, cure the strange unknown disease that keeps making me lose control over this body, my body and shoot lightning yeah, good plan.
“I can’t live like this” I spoke out loud to no one.
I am getting sick of this loop, and it's just starting yet am no idiot, I know a pattern when I see one, and it's going to kill me if I don't break it.
I picked up a rock a big one and smashed the skull, after the 5th hit the skull finally cracked, I could barely summon the strength to do anymore.
Using the knife, I made the crack wider.
And finally it opens up, ignoring the ugly gory brain and using the water from my bag to wash the blood and brains to finally see a small crystal ball.
It was half the size of an eyeball using the knife I got it out and looked at it after more water the blood washed off, the ball looked like a mix of white and blue.
The smell brought me back to reality looking at the corps I felt the need to get cured to get control over MY body, or I will die.
If this thing was too far away from me, it could have survived and just killed me after the seizure or cures whatever this is, it was over, and I was defenseless, looking back at the smoke from the direction of the village.
I felt unsafe and so back home it is, and in the morning I will go to the village to see what is what maybe sell the core for food and desperately ask for cure or just a direction to a city or any place to get some help.
I moved home slowly, carefully looking in every direction, and as I walked I realized that the cooking food can be dangerous too, dangerous if things like that bear are any ware close.
Images of night attacks came to my mind.
Okay I need the energy and to stay calm the seizures seem to be triggered from fear or stress, I need to do my best to calm down.
My head was still pounding, and when I tried to walk home.
The shock and lack of food was not helping, it’s probably just me holding my emotions do to confusion and being so tired I don’t have the energy for panicking
I took deep breaths and counting from 10 to 0 over and over, I started relaxing and felt my aura, my second skin relaxing.
'Yes, that’s it'.
Just before home, I looked into the traps in my path, hoping for more meat.
“All empty, maybe it’s time to go fishing or make fish traps”
In my little home I put my water bag and moved to the fire added some wood to the little dying flame, as I dried myself and my clothes the cave was warming up, the good news I won’t freeze to death.
At least until winter comes.
Feeling hungry I started warming up the rabbit in the fire, as I was eating I made plans unclear undefined plans just the shape of a plan more like goals based on what I can remember.
One safety and food
Two a cure or way to hold back the seizure from killing me.
Three information about this world.
I need to go back to the village, sell the core or just go to a city.
After dinner, I made sure my home was safe added more branches to the little door I was actually more relaying on staying hidden, soon it was dark night and that creepy looking dead moon was back.
I went to the bed and I realized why it was so wet, last time I was too tired to care now I know.
It's so that if the boy, no not the boy, his name was ⴰⵎⴰⵔⵉⵙ ama-re-yas.
Yes "amarys" my name is amarys, it was so that if I get seizure the bed won’t burn me alive. This idea alone made me determined to get the seizure under control, I slept with that as my last thought.
Morning came, the sunlight hit my home directly illuminating the inside of the cave from small holes on top of the door, hitting my face waking me up.
As I opened my eyes and felt my body complaining about the bed.
I didn't care, taking a deep breath I stood up, used the water bag to wash my face outside after that I collected all I need the water the bag with the clothes and knife and the core was in my pocket and started walking to the village north.
I fallowed the river up to the north so that I won't get lost or ambushed, and the closer I was to the village, the angrier I became.
Feeling angry at people I don't know yet, amarys knows them, and that was good enough for me.
The anger was about how they kicked me out with no mercy, no food, only false hope, finally I was there in front of a broken gate with claw marks on it and the blood just blood no bodies.
'What the fuck is this'.
I walked in feeling my stress level rising, i felt my aura reacting and I tried to take control over myself, it was working slowly, deep breaths.
Walking deeper into this horror show was not easy, yet i found it impossible to resist.
I noticed the horse wagons in the village center.
The village was built like a big circle, the village was in a wooden wall and inside fourteen houses in two circles of seven houses and one big house for the village chieftain facing the village gate,
And a big empty space in the middle of the village, that’s the location I was in, surrounded by six wagons, and silence.
It was the basic creepy horror scene you might expect in an empty blood stained village, and like the good victim I was standing exposed in the middle of it all.
I looked around me moved to the closest wagon using it as cover.
And picked up a good fighting knife from the ground it was kukri blade, and it was sticky from blood, I was not in the mood to feel grossed out.
As I was holding the blade it was reacting to my aura, I can feel it absorbing some of my mana it looked as if it was sharpened by my aura.
Nothing was moving, just me and the smell of blood in the wind, no birds no bugs no bodies, nothing.
Finally, I remembered I can use lightning magic, and collected my misguided courage and started to move.
Looking around me, I found a wooden shield, I picked it up like a Noob playing warrior.
I looked around, using the wagons as cover.
Nothing, just the same image of broken doors and scene of fight and blood, no bodies.
I started to think of every movie I have seen, and every book and story I had in my head.
All that experience was telling me to get supplies and go as far as I can from this death trap.
The first wagons I searched was half empty, I found some coins silver gold some blue crystal stuff, I just collected every important looking thing in a large bag and looked for more in the next wagon.
I found dried food in jars some made from clay others glass, they were full of meat fruits white pea bean and some mix of seeds.
Okay, this wagon was full of food, the next one was full of fabrics and cloth.
I took stuff that looked like it fit me and ignored the rest, my collection was getting big I can’t take everything, not unless I wanted to do multiple trips and I don't want to.
I need all of this so yes I need to risk it, as I moved around the wagons.
My eye fell on something strange, one of the wagons had no place for a horse, actually it was smaller, and after I looked more at it, I noticed what looked like a driving wheel.
I found 6 beast cores in a box positioned in the middle of the front seat of the wagon, this wagon is a magically operated.
It can collect mana and use it to power the wagon if someone was driving it and was guiding the mana flow.
Looking around as I considered how to get this thing moving, I started filling my new wagon.
I collected all I could need in the wagon, starting with food, some medicine I think I was medical, I was just reading and taking, one of the things I found in the village was crafting tools and in one of the wagons I found more crafting tools and supplies for crafting.
"I can't use it, but I can sell this shit"
After I moved all I can to the wagon I was in the driving seat, as soon as I touched the wheel I felt it absorbing my mana and I felt the wagon move slightly, I looked around me.
"It’s all clear".
I started my trip home.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

To complete his mission he needs a dragon but the road to the dragon’s lair goes horribly wrong, and when he finally faces the beast he stands alone. A deeply emotional story that deals with pain, regret, betrayal, and failure. Despite it all somehow our heroes discover they need each other and slowly come together. With the help of some dedicated friends they realize their love is special, and go on to forge a new world befitting their unusual union. If you like dragons, romance, a little magic and a lot of war this might be for you. This story eventually evolves into a very loving harem, where the women rely on and love one another just as much as they love our hero. Please note: I am an amateur writer who started this story as a form of therapy while my wife was teetering on the brink of death. Thankfully she survived but by that point I was so committed to telling this story I couldn’t stop. I learned a great deal about writing over time but I am afraid my early chapters were very rough. I have since gone back and begun to edit them, applying the lessons learned and cleaning them up. I hope you will still enjoy the story, as I love sharing it and I can’t imagine a better use of my time. Sexual content.. In seven books I have written two sex scenes, but one of them will be highly edited once I reach them with my rewrite. Overall I imply our characters are sharing their love but don't go into any great detail as to how. So if sexual content bothers you, it is only lightly touched on twice.
