Zeta: "Do you see that ant over there?"
Me: "Yes i do."
Zeta: "Wrap some of your mana around it and try to control it"
I Wrap my mana around the ant and try to make it walk to me.
To my suprise, the ant stops in its tracks and starts walking over to me.
Once it reaches me, it stops and goes back to doing what it was doing which was nothing.
Zeta: "Good, but notice how the ant goes back to what it was doing? You need to essentially program it."
Me: "How am i going to do that?"
Zeta: "Its simple really. Just command it to do something like protect you and it will do that until the day it dies."
Me: "Oh ok that seems interesting"
I wrap my mana around the ant once more and command it to "Protect me with your life"
The ant promptly walks up to me and stands infront of my core.
Zeta: "It seems like you are learning faster than most other cores. The other cores have to keep trying over and over again 10 times!"
Me: "Anything else i need to know?"
Zeta: "Yes. As you know, you are inside a closed cave. If you stay in this closed off cave for any longer you might die."
Me: "Wait why?"
Zeta: "You are like a animal. You breath in unsuable mana and expel mana usable by humans and other creatures. If you have too much of the latter mana, your core will get corrupted and you will weaken before eventually dying. To prevent this, open a hole to the outside world. To do this, focus on the rock and visualize it being dug out."
I focus my mana around the rock and imagine a tunnel forming to the surface.

The rocks slowly part ways with a grinding sound and i feel the bad mana rush out of it.
The absence of bad mana seems to have empowered my core!
Zeta: "You are a being of pure mana. For this, you have a immunity to most magic."
Zeta: "Now, you need to learn how to corrupt stronger monsters. Controlling the ant was easy because it's mind was simple. But to control beings more than ants, you have to corrupt its mind using pure mana. When the monster is in your domain, it gets slowly corrupted to your cause. Active corruption uses more mana but is alot stronger and faster."
Me: "Is it possible to force evolutions on monsters?"
Zeta: "Well yes, but not at your level. Changing any living being's shape, or mentality is very mana intensive. Say the word "Status"."
Me: "Status"
Race: Demicore Name: Mana: 400/500 Population: 1 Mana regen: .1/h
Me: "Wait why do i only have .1 mana regen per hour?"
Zeta: "The more monsters you have, the faster and better you gain mana."

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.
