The first dinner at Beacon went by uneventfully. Noir sat with Ruby and Yang. Ruby was going on about how Yang had ditched her and she somehow managed to cause an explosion. Both Yang and Noir laughed at the young girl’s slight misfortune. After eating Noir stopped by the locker area to put away his weapons and gather his luggage. He quickly changed out of his cloths and into his pajamas which only consisted of a pair of green pajama pants.

Afterwards Noir went to the main hall where all the new students were setting up their sleeping bags and gear. Noir found a spot towards the middle of the large room. He looked around and saw Yang and Ruby and it looked like they were talking about something.

“Ever heard of a shirt?” a familiar voice said behind him. Noir turned to see Bastion sitting behind him dressed in a large white undershirt and black pants.

“I have but when I sleep I tend to overheat when I wear one so it’s better that I don’t,” Noir responded awkwardly. Bastian made a nodding motion that looked like he understood what Noir was saying.

“Well, all I can say is every guy here is going to hate your guts right about now,” Bastian said smiling, trying to stifle a laugh. Noir looked at his new friend puzzled. Bastian pointed to the other side of the room where all the ladies were. A good majority of them were looking at him giggling and gossiping. “I think they like your six pack man,” Bastian finally said laughing. Noir gave him what seemed like a death stare.

“Gee thanks,” Noir said as he laid down in his sleeping bag. “Hey are you looking forward to our first assignment tomorrow?” Noir asked Bastian. Bastian himself started lying down for the night.

“Kind of,” Bastian said in a half -hazard tone. “Hey want to be on the same team tomorrow?”

“I appreciate the offer but I hear tomorrow that we only work with partners tomorrow, and I already had plans to be Yang’s partner,” Noir responded sadly. He would love to be on the same team as Bastian, the guy proved to be quite a force to be reckoned with but with a choice between him and Yang, Noir would rather have Yang.

“Who’s Yang?” Bastian finally asked interrupting Noir’s train of thought.

“She’s a friend of mine back from Patch and Signal,” Noir responded.

“OHH,” Bastian responded in a sing songy voice slightly mocking Noir “Is she hot? If she is she available?” Noir started feeling his face turn red in thought.

“Yes, and if you try anything I may have to put six of blade in your back,” Noir said feeling both annoyed and embarrassed. Bastian burst out laughing.

“Sorry man, I couldn’t resist but alright that’s fair,” Bastian said rolling over “Well good night.”

“Good night,” Noir responded as he drifted off to sleep. It wasn’t long before the noise around him died down and everyone was asleep. In the middle of the night Noir felt the need to go to the restroom and woke up. As he was getting up he noticed a dark figure across on the girl side of the room. What frightened him was dark figure was looming over Ruby. Noir immediately felt his older brother instincts kicked in. Noir jumped out of his sleeping bag making a small thump. The noise definitely caught the shadowy figure’s attention as it darted away. Noir ran after the figure trying to keep up with the shadowy figure. For a good portion of time he was doing well until the two turned a sharp corner and ended up crashing into someone again.

“I am really really sorry,” Noir managed to get out trying to stand back up. He looked down the hall really quick and noticed the shadowy figure had vanished. He then looked down at his newest crash victim and helped him up. When the other young man stood up he couldn’t be much taller than four and half feet tall. He had a slightly stout figure and short rust colored hair and was wearing dark pajamas. What really stuck out though were the two large and pointed ears on the top of his head.

“That’s alright,” the young man said dusting himself off. “I am guessing you were after that shadowy figure guy,” the faunus said pointing down the hall “Um sir what are you doing?” Noir had almost forgotten about the shadowy figure and was more interested in the stranger’s ears and had started playing with them.

“Sorry I have never seen a faunus before today,” Noir said while playing with the young Faunus’s ears. The faunus got annoyed look on his face as he swatted Noir’s arm away. “What?”

“My ears are not toys to play with,” the short faunus said crossing his arms.

“I think people really like them,” a voice came from behind the small faunus When Noir looked up he noticed another young man with hair the color of sand wearing a black and white gi. “First Nora plays with them then this blonde girl,” Must have been Yang Noir thought to himself “And now this young fellow.”

“The young fellow is going to lose his hand f he doesn’t let go,” the faunus growled out.

“Oh sorry,” Noir said letting the faunus’ ears go. “Sorry about knocking you over,” Noir then went on to saying. “I was trying to catch that guy,”

“Oh he left the building, I lost his scent while you were playing with my ears,” the fauns responded.

“Oh, I see, that’s a bit frightening,” Noir responded. Now he was a bit worried someone was after Ruby. But he was quickly brought back when the faunus outstretched his hand in front of him.

“My name is Ivan Canis pleased to meet you oh shirtless one,” Ivan said smiling.

“Oh I’m Noir Pendragon,” Noir responded “Who’s your friend Ivan?” Noir then asked.

“I’m Onyx and I wouldn’t call us friends we just met today,” the other boy responded. “I met Ivan because a friend of mine decided his ear were cute and decided that she wanted to play with them.”

“Well I don’t like them getting touched but I made an exception for her and the blonde,” Ivan responded. Noir then soon figured out that Ivan had a weakness for women.

“Anyway we really should head back before a teacher gets us in trouble,” Onyx said flatly. The other two nodded in agreement and the three walked back to the main hallway where everyone was still sleeping. Noir’s two companions disappeared into the crowd of sleeping guys before he could say anything about it. Noir grudgingly walked back to his sleeping bag and fell asleep still worried about the strange figure standing over Ruby. Eventually he did manage to sleep.

The next morning all the students got up and got ready for their field test. Noir quickly got dressed in his green t-shirt, cargo pants, and leather jacket on and went to eat his breakfast quickly. After eating he went two his locker grabbing hi sheaths and sword handles. While in the locker room he noticed that Ruby was carrying a blonde hair guy out and Yang was standing back. Noir walked up to Yang and tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around and smiled.

“Hell-o,” Yang said in her obnoxious sing songy voice. She then reverted back to her normal voice “So I am trying to convince Ruby to be someone else’s partner so we could work together,” Yang said happily. Noir smiled at her.

“Yeah about that,” Noir started to say, and then told Yang about the shadowy figure that was hanging over Ruby the night before. Yang got a slightly distressed look on her face. “with all that being said, I think you should try to be on Ruby’s team, you know to keep an eye on her.” Yang nodded, Noir could tell that informing her of that worried her. Noir gave her a hug and headed out to meet the instructors for the field test. On his way he noticed a familiar sight of a seven-foot ebon giant in white cargo pants, royal blue shirt, and a black combat vest.

“Hey Bastian,” Noir said running to his friend. Bastian turned and made the gesture for a high five. When Noir caught up he took the offer and high fived his friend.

“What’s new man?” Bastian asked.

“Not much just anxious about this exam,” Noir answered and the two passed friendly banter between them until they got to their destination: A hilltop with silver panels on them all in a row. Noir stepped on one that was further down the left. On either side of him was Bastian to the right and on his left was Ivan dressed in what looked like pitch black armor with a white color and a cross on his back. To his left somewhat towering over the faunus was Onyx still dressed in his black and white gi only this time he had silver armor pieces all up his arms. Once all the students were lined up Professors Ozpin and Goodwitch came and stood in front of the students and addressed what the students would be doing.

What Noir understood was that the students would be launched into the emerald forest, they were required to find a partner who would be their partner for the next four years. Once partners were made they were required to get a relic from the ruins and head back. There was enough relics that each group of two people that got the same relic would become a team of four for the rest of their time at beacon.

“Um what does he mean by drop us,” Ivan asked Noir clearly new to how things like this work.

“These things we are standing on are launch pads, when he says go they are going to launch us one by one into the forest. We don’t have parachutes we are required to find our own way to land,” Noir explained. Ivan still looked puzzled. “Watch Onyx,” Noir said pointing at the ninja. When Ivan turned his head he saw the silver pad launch Onyx several hundred feet into the air over the forest.

“Oh, wait what,” Ivan then said right before his pad launched him up into the air.

“That guy is doomed,” Bastian said to Noir laughed. Noir laughed and nodded in agreement. He prepped himself to be launched. He felt excited he was finally going to truly start training for his dream. The adrenaline spiked as he felt his pad launched him high above the emerald forest.
