《Celestial Cycle》Chapter 4

Dragis returned to work the next day expecting to deal with the fallout that was bound to come from the night before, expecting a representative from the Dreakar family to be waiting to reprimand him or to put on some airs to try and show their dominance. Yet as he opens his door to his lab he sees an older man in a grey robe with the Aesir crest on his shoulder sitting at his desk.
“Family Patriarch,” Dragis says with respect and then makes a slight bow.
The Aesir family patriarch was an elder man in his three hundred who always keep a long beard and a royal look and was also one of the top five strengths in Asgard.
“So you do still know how to show respect to others. I was scared that your power had made you forget even that.” He says with a slight smile as he stands up.
“I will always show respect to those who show me respect. But everyone has a bottom line that once pressed they will retaliate.” Dragis replies as he straightens up.
“Where this is true every man should have his bottom line remember also each action has consequences that may outweigh your bottom line or possibly put others in danger even ones who were not involved.”
“So does that mean you are here to give me those consequences for my actions from yesterday or just lecture me?”
“In a sense. your superior wishes for you to pay some penalty or make a public apology but if you will accept a request from me I will put pressure on her to make the problem go away as if it never happened.”
“What is it you wish me to do patriarch?” Dragis askes
“Next year it will be time for the meeting of the four islands. For the occasion, at the end of the year, the city lord will host the generation tournament to find the top ten most powerful members of your generation. Where people are not required to join the tournament. Since you are the strongest of the Aesir in your generation I would like you to fight for the first ranked spot in the tournament to return the honor we lost in the last generational tournament because of Shyun Drakar cutting off one of our strongest members connection to the grand crystal causing him to lose his ability to use magic.”

Dragis thinks back to when he was a kid watching that tournament when Shyun fought Grethor Aesir and through the use of his mental magic Shyun broke Grethors mind causing him to no longer be able to concentrate to cultivate magical powers.
“I will do as you ask patriarch and take revenge for our family member,” Dragis says with a slight smile.
“Good there is six more months till the tournament. Each family is allowed to enter at most thirty people to participate as a team. For most of the other members of your generation, there is little hope to win but we have five other family members who have great promise who we wish you to train in the next following months.”
“What about my brother, he is almost at my level will he not take part?”
“He will be taking all the others and trying to train them up to a much more respectable level. He may be almost your equal in strength but he is not as good with people as you and I am scared he may not know the limits of the others. Also, I am afraid of the cost of elemental stones that your brother would charge to train the other five.”
Thinking about the points that the patriarch made Dragis agrees since his brother, who normally is calm, his anger is on a whole other level and does not stand people who do not meet his standards or people who always make excuses. “Well this may be training for him as well but what is wrong with the other five” Dragis says with a laugh
“That is my very thought as well he is your equal in every way almost except for his understanding of people.” He says with a laugh “And there is nothing wrong with them they just may be hard to handle. Since you have agreed to start next week after your work come to the main family training grounds to meet the Family Elder and the other five.”

“If the Elder of the Young is free then why have me do it?”
“You will see next week,” the patriarch says as he walks by me and out the door.
“Guess my time of peace and quiet will be done for a while,” Dragis say lowering his head slightly in defeat.

A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."

Shadowrun: Blake Island School of Magic
It's a high tech, low life. It's the Seattle Metroplex in 2074. It rises like a steel and concrete cancer out of the earth. Poverty is rampant, corruption is everywhere, crime is out of control, corporations basically control everything, the old United States is fractured, magic has come back and now it turns out that humanity has been joined by elves, dwarves, orks and trolls. The old world ended but the rent is still due. Life goes on. You'd be surprised what people can adapt to, especially if they don't have a choice. One of the places where life goes on is just west of Seattle. Surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound is an island. On that island is the Blake Island School of Magic. A decade ago it was known for producing some of the most talented awakened in the world. That reputation was hijacked by the wealthy corporate elite who now park their teenage children there. And since it's a boarding school, their parents mostly forget about them. Three young people, who are certainly not wealthy or elite, are chosen this year to attend this school of magic in hopes of revitalizing their reputation for talent. One from the ash drifts of the Puyallup Barrens, one from the most densely populated slum hive in the world and one from prison. This is their story. -- This story is set in the Shadowrun universe. If you're not familiar with Shadowrun, it mostly tells the stories of deniable mercenaries called shadowrunners in a cyberpunk dystopia. Instead of telling another story solely about shadowrunners, this story will tell the tale of young people navigating a world that is indifferent to them at best and actively hostile at worst. Shadowrunners will be in the story and we'll see them operate, but they won't be its main focus. This story originally began in 2017 as a passion project and continues to this day on the Somethingawful.com forums. The unedited version is over a million words strong. There are currently seven books in this series and I am currently in the process of editing them. If you read this story then you won't lack for content. -- The Topps Company, Inc. has sole ownership of the names, logo, artwork, marks, photographs, sounds, audio, video and/or any proprietary material used in connection with the game Shadowrun.
