Chapter 14 - Power

In the starry night sky of the world called ‘Nova’, a jade colour pierce into the sky descending towards the land when looking from the populace of ‘Nova’ view it looks like a shooting star

“Mummy mummy look”

A little energetic girl calls out at her mother who is reading quietly as she looks at her angel

“Yes darling”

The girl tackles her mother on the bed where her mother resides and declares with sparkling eyes

“I saw a shooting star mummy, it was cool”

“I’m sure it was darling”

In a pitched black cave a deep growl echoed and two pairs of red globes suddenly glowed in the darkness

“So it appears it has arrived, maybe this time I won’t be as unfortunate as before”

And so the red globes disappeared

Hidden inside the forest is a small crater, in the centre of this crater is a naked boy who is surrounded by multiple jade tentacle like energy squirming around, as if struggling to get away from his body while his wounds visibly closing up at the same time. Next to him is an old man watching him with an incredulous expression that under the gaze of the moon revealed

“Who is this boy and why is his power running rampant for?”

As the old man stroke his short beard questioning the boy as he watch the spectacle before him. On closer look, you can see the old man who looks to be in his 50s with rippling muscles, as if about to burst out of his body and wearing a brown cloth material wrapped around his waist like a skirt

“Well I better control his power”

The old man gathers his energy at his hand, watching as purple energy wraps around his hand he nods in approval and strike the boy in the chest as he kneels

Puh

The moment his hand touched the boy’s chest, the tentacle like energy withdraw back into the boy’s body

Damn

The old man struggles as he tries to contain inside his body as his face starts to sweat by the second. After 5 minutes of continuous pumping his energy inside the boy he finally succeeds in stopping the rampant energy and sits down into a lotus meditation form next to the boy to recuperate his energy

30 minutes later the old man opens his eyes and stand up as he turns to the boy

“This boy’s got potential; I almost died due to how chaotic his energy was. If trained right, he could most likely succeed my wish of achieving the ‘Rua’ rank”

Lost in thought, he hears rustling sounds from the forest. Not just any rustling sounds, because he noticed how odd the rustling sound is when compared to before. Thinking a little, he realised they must be people who were nearby that decided to check out the crater. He was about to disappear when he remembered the boy, after much deliberation he decided it was best to take the boy with him

“You’re in luck boy”

Soon as he said that, both the old man and the boy disappeared from the crater

Rustle

As soon as the old man disappeared something shot out of the forest and surrounded the spot where the old man was before he disappeared. What appeared were 8 figures whose shadow enveloped the small hole the boy made like the grim reaper. 8 figures with 5 clad in full heavy body armour, the last 3 wearing a metallic blank mask with only two holes for the eyes to see through with black and orange robes that has no hood piece to cover the head as everyone stares at the spot

Armoured man 1 – “Damn it, we just missed him”

Mask 1 – “I can fuckin see that, that old fucker should just keep fucking still so I can finally kill him”

The masked man screamed as he stomped his feet, cracking the ground a little

Mask 2 – “Calm down, notice anything different brothers?”

The other masked man quizzed as he looked at everyone, one man scoffed and replied as he spread his arms out

Armoured man 2 – “What? This bloody crater?”

Mask 2 – “No, scan this area with your ‘Whatu’ and you’ll understand”

The rest of the men looked at him like he was an idiot, why should they scan a crater that was made by the old man

The masked man seeing as everyone was looking at him became irritated so he decided to tell them the reason

“Idiots, if you scan this area you’ll see that there is a different mana source here meaning this crater wasn’t created by the old man. What’s more, I feel it is more powerful than the old man. I fear he may have allied with a powerful person”

As the mask 2 watched everyone get shocked, he may not be able to tell due to their faces all covered up but their body language doesn’t lie

Mask 1 – “Shit! This is bullshit! Utter..” as he raised his arms up cursing at the sky

Armoured 3 – “Oh for fucks sake, just shut the fuck up 31. You aren’t the only one who is pissed”

Mask 1 (now known as 31) – “What’d you just say to me 32, you wanna…” as he was about to prepare for a fight

Armoured man 4 – “Quiet”

This word alone shut 31 up

“First thing first, we need to report this to our Lord of this new development, before continuing our hunt. Is that clear?”

Seeing all the men nod, he then looked at 31

“Next time you step out of line..”

He made a cutting motion across his neck to get his message across, he disappeared leaving 31 to take in the threat he made to him

One by one each of them disappeared until it was 31 turn to follow suit not before he whispered “Just you wait, you may be the leader of us but I will kill you one day for threatening me” as he disappeared

Chirp

Chirp chirp

Jay felt his consciousness return gradually as the chirping noise invaded his mind. Wondering what was the cause, he slowly opened his eyes

……I’m alive?.....what happened….

Attempting to get up, he was stopped when his forehead hit the low ceiling of the house he was currently sheltered

…..what the…..

??? – “About time you woke up boy”

Hearing the voice, he turned round to see an old man teeming with muscle. This shocked Jay because never once has he ever seen an old man possessing such powerful, sleek, defined and not overstretched like from his world’s bodybuilders muscles along with the aura he wore that if someone told you he could crush mountains, Jay would believe him

The old man noticing the gaze smirked

I may be able to get this kid to be my disciple if I promise him a body similar to mine

??? – “You want a body like mine kid?”

Breaking out of his admiration of the old man’s muscle, Jay was about to answer back but tensed up when the memory of his battles before he blacked out came rushing into his brain. His mind clicked thinking this old man in front of him is a part of the group that Grant leads, so he instinctively jumped and rushed to attack the old man screaming

“WHERE THE FUCK IS HE?”

The old man baffled by the boy’s sudden change didn’t panic but raised an eyebrow before he put his palm up

The moment he saw the old man faced his right palm at him, Jay suddenly felt his body get weighed down as he slammed to the ground creating small spider web like crack on the ground with him in the centre as his body stayed immobilized leaving his head free of the pressure

The fuck just happened?

Furious and confused, Jay screamed not caring about anything but the location of his enemy

“YOU FUCKER, TELL ME WHERE HE IS”

Watching the boy before him screaming from what he believes is anger and revenge. Crossed his arms with a nonchalant expression as he asked the boy

“Who are you talking about boy?”

The old man watched as the boy’s face went red and yelled at his ears

“YOU KNOW WHO IM FUCKING TALKING ABOUT”

The old man made a gesture of cleaning his ears out which further angered Jay

“ARE YOU FUCKIN DEAF OLD MAN”

He watched as the boy huffed and puff while trying to move around which is futile at his current level

“Let’s get this..”

“JUST FUCKING TELL ME WHERE HE…mmmmmhhhhmhmhh”

The old man cast a magic to bind the boy’s mouth, to stop the boy from cutting him off. He was about to continue but seeing as how the boy was still trying to scream while his mouth is closed decided to wait for the boy to waste his energy

2 hours later

Wow this boy sure has a lot of anger built up, he reminds me of my younger days

“Finished?”

Seeing the boy nod grudgingly

“You gonna be quiet?”

With another nod from the boy, he took the binding off the boy’s mouth

“Well *clap* introduction first. Name boy”

“Jay” his mouth twitched when he said his name to me

“Nice to meet you Jay, names Ark”

Jay rolled his eyes

“Whatever, so where is he Ark?”

“Who?”

“Don’t act dumb, ‘Grant’”

“Who’s this ‘Grant’ fellow” as Ark sat down in mid-air while in the doorway of the room

“What? Don’t act dumb, he’s your leader or part of the organisation you are in”

Ark realised that Jay was misunderstanding him and his situation. So he tried to clear up this misunderstanding that Jay is currently under in

“Hey kid..”

“Jay” he said laced with anger

“Ok Jay, clearly you are misunderstanding me

Firstly, I am a part of no organisation or leader of any group or association

Secondly, I know not of any ‘Grant’ fellow you speak of”

“Why should I believe you?”

“You don’t need too, but I do believe you are seeking power am I right?”

“No”

“Course you do, you need it for your vengeance right”

Jay snapped his head at what Ark just said

“What did you just say?”

“Which part?”

“About the vengeance, how’d you know I hated someone?”

Leaning back a little on his invisible chair, Ark answered

“Pretty obvious when you yelled this ‘Grant’ fellow name out with a pissed off face”

As Jay thinks about what Ark said so far, Ark slammed the last nail in before Jay could get himself back together

“You could probably rip your enemy into shreds, but that would be too easy. So with what I will teach you, with power you could rip him apart and heal him back *as he reveal a devilish smile* I could also teach you a technique to find your enemy, after all how are you going to find him in this vast world”
